Prologue

"I'm sorry Mr and Mrs Anderson, Jade has been diagnosed with leukemia" said Dr James. "But it isn't chronic and it's still in it's early stages so I believe if treatment starts now she should be cured."

Mr and Mrs Anderson looked at each other then at their 12 year old daughter who was a few feet away from them, lost in her thoughts without a care for what was going on around her. " Leukemia?" said Mrs Anderson her eyes filling up with tears. " When will the treatment begin?" Mr Anderson asked the doctor.

"We can start whenever you want, but you have some forms to fill with the nurse before we begin." "Will she be staying in the hospital till the treatment ends?" "No, she will have scheduled dates and times since we will be using chemotherapy. I'll go get the forms for you to fill." Dr James said, leaving the office.

"I have cancer, right?" Jade suddenly spoke up startling her parents who were lost in their thoughts. "Am I going to die?" she asked with tears in her eyes. "Mommy I don't want to die"

Mrs Anderson pulled her daughter in for a hug. "No my baby, my sweet angel, you're not going to die, you're going to get treated. Before you know it, you'll be perfectly fine, running around with your friends again." She said wiping her daughter tears.

Dr James entered the office " Here are the forms, both for the treatments and payments and you are to go through them ,fill the information needed and sign here" the doctor directed. "I'll also fix the times for treatment and I'll inform you about them."

"Thank you so much Doctor James, I'm glad this can start early and be done with on time" said Mrs Anderson.

"I'm just doing my job,Mrs Anderson. It's a good thing it was discovered early so the chances of getting well are high" Mr Anderson hands over the form to him.

"I guess that will be all for now. You'll let me know about the treatments schedule and any other information." "Of course, Mr Anderson."

" We'll be taking our leave then. Thank you Doctor" said Mr Anderson, shaking hands with the doctor and leaving, his wife and daughter trailing after him.
