SIXTY: FINDING RESOLVE

[SHAIRA's POINT OF VIEW]

As the lady walked away, her words echoed in my mind, fueling my anger and insecurity. I couldn't believe she had the audacity to say such things. Deep down, I knew I couldn't let her get to me, but her words struck a nerve.

Taking a deep breath, I composed myself before coming back to my husband's room. I stood outside the door for a couple of minutes to heave a heavy breath. As I entered, I put on a smile, pretending that everything was normal. I didn't want my son to sense any tension.

"Mom, where's the lady?" Tamra asked.

I cleared my throat and kissed Tamra's forehead as I replied, "She went home. She's a busy woman."

"I see. Anyway, what happened to Dad? Is he okay?" Tamra asked while staring at the man on the bed. I could read his worries for his dad.

I am also worried. I may have been in anguish over the infidelity, but it does not mean there was no love left in my heart.
