Humiliation..

"Are you ok my boy?" Eva's father came rushing towards Richard, giving him his hand for support to get up and then dusting away his clothes with his own hands.

Till that time Richard's parents too had come rushing towards him, helping the boy get up. Soon Eva and Emily's mothers too rushed towards the scene looking apologetically towards Richard. One of the ladies picked up the bracelet from the ground, handing it over to Richard.

"No! I can not have it back. Please give it to Eva from my side." Richard nodded his head in a 'no.'

Eva's mother sighed not knowing what to say to the boy and his family. "Listen dear, Eva has not yet said yes to you so she might not like accepting such costly gifts from you. But I am really sorry for my daughter's actions. She should not have insulted you in front of everybody."

"Yes, we are really sorry." Eva's father too looked at Richard's family with apologetic eyes. "Richard boy, you should give Eva some time. Currently she is not in a state of mind, to have a finacee or a husband. If you will make such kinds of display of affection in public, then it might hurt the girl." Eva's father tried to explain the situation to Richard.

Till then Eva's grandparents too walked towards the spot looking at the boy's dirty clothes and nodding their heads in a disapproval. "I do not understand this girl. He is such a wonderful boy. Why can she not marry him?" Eva's grandfather patted Richard's shoulder, increasing the boy's confidence to the core.

"I will have to talk to these girls. This is sheer stupidity." Eva's grandmother too spoke up in much anger.

Richard and his family exchanged happy glances towards each other but did not speak any word further. They were now playing the trump card, of being insulted in public, making the girl's family feel extremely guilty.
