IN THE BEGINNING

Chapter one

Samantha looked into the mirror one last time, before heading out of her three-bedroom apartment. Something felt different about the day. But looking around her, all she could see was the regular New York City bustling and hustling everywhere. The morning sun was ready to provide its blessing and light for the day. She then decided to walk to her favourite café for a refreshing cup of cappuccino to start her day.

She made sure to be on time to work. As a secretary, she had to be at work before her boss, Mr. Willes, a middle-aged and annoying man of forty-five got to work. The day was normal and nothing spontaneous happened. Everything seemed to go normally as every day was.

It was half past ten in the evening when she closed from work. She had missed the bus and had to walk past Avenue Street. Right when she began to walk through the dark woods, then she remembered all the rumors about the place. How strange and fast creatures were spotted…to how they lived on blood…they were Vampires! The thought of it made her swallow her saliva.

She instantly felt relieved when she exited the woods. But when she got to the first four buildings, she felt as if someone was monitoring her. But every time she turned her back, no one was around. The third time she felt that way, she quickened her steps and before she realized it, she was running towards her house. After fumbling for the keys for about two minutes, she finally felt safe when she shut the door behind her.

She lay down on her bed after making herself comfortable. Her mind then drifted off to the woods. She then felt as if she saw a pair of eyes…emerald green eyes…to be specific. She closed her eyes for about five minutes when she felt a flash of wind around her and she opened her eyes to find a pair of green eyes close to her face…

"Oh my god! Get away from me! Please don't kill me…I haven't given my mum grandchildren yet…please, please get away from me…" she cried but she then realized that the 'creature' was actually human, at least that's what she thought. It was still coming close to her when she continued.

"Okay…tell me what do you want? Money, my firstborn, well that's quite dumb to say on my side…I'm the only child of my parents." She managed to say. To her utter surprise, the stranger started laughing.
