Last Breath(1)

When the morning bell rang, the raucous crowd instantly quieted down. The physics instructor entered the classroom and began teaching the next topic.

Su Anya had been feeling uneasy since the morning and was unable to concentrate in class. Someone appears to be calling on her phone, which she had set to silent.

She checked her phone after class and discovered that she had numerous missed calls from the hospital. Her stomach churned and her heart raced a little faster. She redials the number with her shaky hand.

"Miss Su, we've been trying to contact you for a long time. Your aunt's situation is critical. Please make your way to the hospital as soon as possible." Su Anya felt as if all of her energy had been drained from her body after hearing the news on the other end of the phone call. Her phone slid down her hand and landed on the floor.

She dashed out of the classroom, determined to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

"Where are you going, little girl? No student shall be permitted to leave the school without permission. Return to your class before I complain to your teacher." Su Anya was stopped from leaving the school by a security guard.

"Please let me go, Uncle. There is an emergency, and I must go to the hospital. Please allow me to leave." Su Anya began to panic, and her eyes were already welling up with tears and started to beg him.

"Little girl, you must obtain permission from your teacher before leaving." The guard refused to allow her to leave the school.

With no other option. Su Anya shoved him and dashed away.

"Stop right there, you can't leave like this." Behind her, the guard was yelling. He wanted to chase her down, but she had already crossed the street and the traffic light had turned red.

Su Anya was running aimlessly down the street. It never occurred to her that she could take a taxi to the hospital.

Someone suddenly grabbed her arm, and the sudden pull caused her to hit her head on his chest.

"I've been calling you for a long time. Why are you running down the street? "Don't you realize it's dangerous?" Lu Rayansh began to chastise her. When he saw that she had almost hit the car, he became extremely concerned.

Su Anya raised her head to look at him with teary eyes. "I need to go to the hospital." She began to cry. She appeared to have gone insane and had no idea what to do.

Lu Rayansh was taken aback by her tear-streaked face and felt his heart ache just looking at her. He took her hand in his and led her to her car. However, the person did not appear to want to accompany him.

Su Anya did not move from her position. She assumed he was preventing her from getting to the hospital.

"I'm taking you to the hospital, Su Anya. If you accompany me, you will arrive there soon. So, let's go. Okay." In a soft voice, he tried to persuade her.

She didn't resist this time and followed him to his car. When assistant Du saw that his boss had brought Su Anya into the car, he was taken aback. He appeared to have realized that there is something between them.

"Take the car as soon as possible to the city hospital." You must arrive in fifteen minutes." Lu Rayansh ignored his assistant's reaction and spoke to him coldly.

He turned to face the girl who was sitting beside him. The girl sat there motionless, as if she was lost. She appears to be soulless.

They eventually arrived at the hospital. Su Anya sensed they had arrived at the hospital as the car came to a halt. She slams the car door open and nearly falls. Her legs seemed to have lost energy.

Lu Rayansh helped her out of the car by holding her hand. He led her inside the hospital and inquired at the reception desk. "May I inquire about..."

"You call my aunt... my aunt." Su Anya cut him off before he could finish his sentence.

The receptionist was perplexed and couldn't understand her.

"She received a call from your hospital regarding her aunt." Could you please tell me the name of the patient listed under Su Anya's phone number?" Lu Rayansh's explained.

He found out about her aunt's patient room. Su Anya entered her aunt's room and noticed her pale face. It makes her realize that it was impossible for her aunt to recover from her illness.

"Anya," Lin Xinyi noticed her niece's vacant expression. "You are a good child, Anya."

After hearing 'good child,' the tears she had been holding were streaming down her cheeks. She doesn't believe she was good to her aunt; if she had been a good child, her aunt would not have been left alone in her previous life. She had tried to change her fate but had failed to change her aunt's fate.

"I am not a good child." Su Anya said through her tears. "If I had been good to you." You would not have been here. I was unable to provide proper care for you."

"Don't be too hard on yourself, Anya. You are not to blame for my condition. You don't have control over life and death. And…" she said weakly as she cupped her cheeks. "You are only a child, a clueless one, who craved love but was also scared of it. Remember this: I have never blamed you for anything."

Li Xinyi began to have trouble breathing. The machine's beeping sound indicated her frantic heartbeat. "Doctor, doctor, doctor. Take a look at what happened to my aunt." Su Anya began to scream when she saw her aunt in this condition.

The doctor entered the ward and began to examine her. "We did our best, Miss Su."

Su Anya's heart was chilled. Her surroundings became silent as her mind went blank after learning of her aunt's condition. She looked at her aunt, who was struggling for her last breath. She felt helpless and unable to understand anything.
