CHAPTER 10 - WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

After that incident Elena could not sleep well at all. She wanted to curse Cameron who had kissed her so presumptuously. But it was just a kiss on the cheek, she couldn't possibly mind a kiss on the cheek on someone. This is Washington DC where it's normal for people to kiss each other on the cheek.

"I'm an honorable woman who won't swear again for the umpteenth time." Elena muttered. She had curled up under the blankets and had dimmed the lights in her room, closing her eyes again but again the image of Cameron came back into her mind.

Elena noticed something different from Cameron that night. Like a... sincerity.

***

"Morning, Elena." Cameron greeted as usual. Acting as usual and annoying as usual too.

Elena snorted and ignored Cameron's greeting. She continued to walk towards her office room while passing Cameron who leaned his body in front of her room while holding coffee in his left hand.

"You didn't hear me?" Cameron asked.

"Yes! I suddenly go deaf if you greet me." Elena answered and closed the door to her room.

Again, Cameron arrived earlier than Elena. The record that Elena has not beaten at all from Cameron is that she is always earlier than herself, who is also very early in the morning.

Elena took the laptop out of the bag and started to turn it on. Doing research and—ah… this afternoon she had to take witness statements. It's still very early to two o'clock in the afternoon, Elena can still enjoy the beauty of this morning that is not entirely beautiful with a cup of latte and extra cheese toast, even though her work seems to attract Elena to do it quickly.

Someone knocked softly on the door. It was still very early and Elena was sure that the person behind the door was Cameron Jones.

"I am busy." Elena said demolished.

"Apparently not," Cameron poked his head in.

"For God's sake I'm busy, Cam." Elena refuses to make small talk.

"But we have to discuss something," Elena rolled her eyes and looked at Cameron who was still sticking his head out the door.

"About Chicago? Gosh just saying it makes me sick,"

"About the Johanes Group." Cameron said. "So can I come in?"

"Ah ... I thought about that ex-girlfriend of yours," Elena replied while nodding her head.

Okay. This is a workplace and they should both get rid of all personal thoughts that will interfere with work performance that they have instilled for a long time.

"So what do you know?" asked Elena.

"You haven't found them yet?" Cameron asked back.

"I just wanted to hear your version," Elena smirked. "You're the first to bring this up, after all."

"I mean we'll talk about this together,"

"I'm lazy. We'll do our own thing," Elena snorted.

Cameron tapped his fingers on the table, calling for Elena's attention, who had now refocused her gaze on the brightly lit laptop screen.

"Helloo..."

"Stop bothering me, Cam." Elena said coldly without even looking at Cameron.

"It's really about the Johanes Group."

"Yes, yes, yes. I know." Elena responded lazily.

"El..." Cameron started to get Elena's attention again.

Elena got up from her seat and walked towards the photocopy machine which was right next to the bookshelf. But before she could go any further Cameron pulled Elena's arm hard enough that Elena fell on Cameron's lap.

It took a few seconds for Elena to curse the man who was again so close and even touched her like this.

"Cam!"

"Yes?"

"Let me go!"

Cameron's sturdy hands wrapped around Elena's tiny waist while Elena, who was still holding a piece of paper, waved the paper in Cameron's hand for the man to let go.

"For God's sake, Cam. I'm going to scream and charge you with harassment!"

"They'll all be here at least two hours from now. It's only seven in the morning," Cameron said. He smelled a very alluring fragrance from Elena's body. Sweet, fresh and also, what is this? Exciting? Passionately?

"Cam..." Elena said again with great emphasis. "Let go of me. I'm not a criminal who won't keep her word and again you've crossed the line we've been building for years." Elena took a deep breath as she said that. The air he breathed in was again filled with the scent of wood and was very masculine.

A fierce battle between what she needed to release all the stress hormones that had been building up for too long and the battle between her desires to kick the man she was now staring at her for forever raged in Elena's mind.

Cameron had found the mysterious Elena's biggest secret, and vice versa. But it was clear they didn't know each other properly. They wouldn't be able to work together to get a client as big as the Johanes Group or get Emily back in Cameron's arms. But now it wasn't Emily in the arms of this muscular Ivy League bastard, this man was embracing herself not too tightly but was about to hug her tightly when he let his guard down and gave her permission to do so. Rest assured that a single sigh convinced Cameron that Elena would allow it.

A glimmer of a smile appeared in Cameron's eyes. He pulled his beautiful lips and looked at Elena intently. He locked his gaze right in the eyes of Elena who was now starting to worry about his feelings.

Elena's heart was beating fast. "Do you want me to let it go?" Cameron asked.

His voice grew weaker as he brought his head closer to Elena's face. His gaze that was getting deeper and deeper instantly froze Elena who had been struggling and waving the paper she was holding at Cameron.

"Elena?" Cameron said, his deep demonic voice bringing Elena to her senses. But before Elena could answer, Cameron quickly took one last step. One hand held Elena's hair while her lips touched Elena's.

Should not!

Elena screamed in her heart. Unfortunately the passion that exploded behind her eyes said otherwise. Her natural instincts led Elena to run through Cameron's hair very gently. She threw the paper she had been holding as if she didn't care about all the contents that she had painstakingly compiled day and night.

Elena's body curled toward Cameron's as if every part of her could blend into Cameron's.

Feel it.

Elena bit Cameron's lower lip when she felt the man's smile on her lips. An absolute Ivy League conqueror's smile.

Unfortunatly, Cameron seems fine. He still remained calm, waiting for Elena to welcome his tongue that continued to force its way inside. He pressed Elena's back and kissed her gently and deeply until Elena's entire body was flooded with a raging and intense sensation. The scent on Cameron's body once again enveloped Elena, warm, sexy, and seductive until they both heard the sound of high heels tapping closer and closer to Elena's study door.

"Ms. Smith, you've come, haven't you?" Patricia's voice rang out and the doorknob began to move down.
