Is baby alive?
A dazzling night, Though the city is busy and lively, it was still in a hold of the silence. But the thing is too different in RMH, a private owned multi-specialty hospital is different from the rest. There are people, a few doctors and attenders, who have been waiting at the entrance. They seem panicked as they are expecting something to come in. Right at the moment, Two ambulance rushed to the entrance with a loud sound of the siren. Soon it came and stood before the entrance. People who have been standing there rushed in and began to open the doors. Soon there were noises stating that it is emergency and they get straight into action. Since the cases seems a little urgent, they need to rush up. After all, it's their duty to save lives.
Soon after two stretchers were pulled out from the ambulance. Both the patients lying there are unconscious and there is no sign of them being in their conscious level. The attenders in the ambulance explained the condition of the two to the attenders of the hospital who came to bring them inside.
"The woman is already unconscious when we reached there. We just gave her oxygen just to keep her heart and brain functioning." A attendant explained.
"He breathe a lot of carbon monoxide, I guess. He had a difficulty to breath.", The other one said.
Soon after bringing them down the doctors and attender dragged them into the Emergency room. Though they are both unconscious, They had their heart beating. That is the only hope for them.
After a long struggle, One of them began to Gain consciousness. But the other one was still in a critical state. It took more than three hours to stabilize her.
In order to have them under observation, both of them were shifted to ICU for observation. After two days they were shifted to the wards allotted for them. Even though they are out of danger, they were kept under constant observation.
A week passed since they got admitted.
"Ask Dr. John to take my shift tonight. I have another important case to look after. And by the way, didn't anyone came to see her....", the man in who wears a white gown said as he came out of VIP ward.
"No Sir. As far as I noticed, No one came looking for her. But the patient in the next ward came often but didn't get in there. Dr. Deuce.", the attending nurse for that ward at that time answered him.
Deuce, The neurosurgeon who took this case on request of some acquaintance. He can be regarded as a ace of the RMH. He is also the son of the chairman of RMH. Though he hate medicine and studied it on the compulsion of his non identical sister, Hecate, who is a gynecologist in the same hospital, He never gave up on doing his duty.
"Who are you talking about.", His sister, Hecate, asked from behind who came looking him.
"Do you remember the emergency case that came a week ago. I am attending that case. I was asking about it.", He replied after sending the nurse.
"Oh...", was the only reply she gave. She knows how dedicated deuce will be when he take up something like that.
"By the way, Do you have some time.", He asked. He can only rely on his sister for the thing that is bothering him as it is not his specialization.
"I am not in a mood to fool around.", She said in a sarcastic way while she actually came looking for him to go out to catch some breath.
"What you always think about. I am talking about serious business my dear.", He flicked her head and caress her head.
"How many time I have told you not to treat me as a child." she was adjusting her hair. "
Leave that what do you want to talk about." she added.
" It's nothing much.The patient I attended just now, she is pregnant.Can you do a check up.", He said.
"What happened?", while taking the file in her hand.
"She almost had a concussion because of beating and I afraid she was tormented physical for atleast three days ..She didn't show any bleeding but it is still a initial pregnancy...", he explained his observation and conclusions...
"So ...
You wanna know whether the baby is alright.", She asked.
"Yeah...", he nodded.
"Just tell me.Why are you so concerned about it.Is it biologically related to you by any chance.", she asked in a teasing manner.
"Can you save a face for me.", He felt like he was struck down by lightning. How can she speculate things on her own. after all he is her biological brother...
"I am just asking you on behalf of someone else. He asked me too do so.", He continued.
"I will look at it", she assured him.
