Chapter 13

It's almost been a month since the river incidence took place. I've shifted my self to Brooklyn highschool , even though Brooklyn is not so far as its a part of New York but still. I've shifted my house over there and my parents have been shifted to India last week. Since the last day of my previous school I've not been in touch with anyone. All my friends including Amelia and Steve came thrice to my house but I told my parents to tell them that I'm not home and even to say that my phone is damaged so don't call on it from now. I really miss Anna, Noah, Steph, Tessa and Camellia. And obviously I do miss Steve and Amelia. I've parted myself from everyone but I couldn't overcome from anything. I'm still in St. Teresa but it's just a different branch. There's a lot of times when both the branches have functions together but I never really attend any of those programs. I have two very good friends over here Jessica Davis and Otis Millburn. Jessica is even my neighbour so I generally spend a lot of time with her. She's knows all my secrets and is a very dear friend of mine. Jessica is dating Alex Standhall so eventually even he's a part of our small group.

Today it was a holiday as it was Thanksgiving. All my neighbours were busy decorating there houses. Even I got some fairy lights and decor stuff but obviously I was still not in a mindset to celebrate. I was missing all my friends. Though Jessica was basically decorating my house.

"Maya would please come and have a look at these lights." She shouted from downstairs.

"Coming."

"So do you like it?"

"I love it Jess. Thanks a lot girl."

"Aww.. Always welcome. So will you be coming to my house for the dinner."

"Oh, no no Jess. Your family is flying from California for Thanksgiving , so I want you to have a family day today."

"But what about you?"

"I'll probably go out for a dinner at Monet's. And Skype call my parents."

"Ok. So then I'll see you later. I have some work at the home."

"Yeah. Enjoy."

She smiled at me and ran towards her home. She was really exited today as she was going to meet her cousins after a long time.

I went back upstairs and took out new dress which Jess made me buy for Thanksgiving. I dressed up and was ready but I really didn't have anything to do. I called my parents but the time difference fucked up. When I stepped out of my house, it was so beautiful out there. There were so many decorations on the streets too. There were young groups hanging around. And I was all alone, without my family. Alex and Otis were in Portland with there families. I booked a cab to Monet's and my car was on servicing. When I reached there it was all full. None of the table was empty. I turned back to walk out but someone tapped on my shoulder from behind. I turned around and there was a young man almost as same age as mine, with blonde hair was standing there.

"Do you want something?" I asked.

"Umm.. Actually I was sitting alone, so I thought that maybe you can join me."

"No. I really don't want to trouble you."

"It's totally fine. Actually my parents are not here and my friends are out with family , so I would love if you join me."

"Ok then."

We sat there and told each other about ourselves. His name was Zach Dempsey and we were in the same highschool. Like what a coincidence. He was a year ahead of me.

"So why did you shifted to Brooklyn? As there's no difference here."

"I know. But I wanted to stay in Brooklyn so that's why."

"Ok. "

We sat there for a long time. We had our dinner and even exchanged the numbers. It was a long time since my mind was so relaxed. I was enjoying my life finally. He even offered me to drop back home but I already had a cab booked.

It was a week since Thanksgiving and me and Zach became really good friends. We both used to talk a lot and he even became a small part of our group. He often used to join us for lunch. Finally I started to open myself again and getting back normal to my life. I used to party like others on Friday's and went on drives and most importantly I had forgotten about my past. Steve's name no longer took my breath away. And I even had a boyfriend and I think it's easy to guess. And he was the most charming person Zach Dempsey.

Zach, Jessica and Otis had known each other for like 4 years and because of Jessica even Alex was a part of there group. It was almost a month since Zach and me were together.

"Hey Maya. Got a boyfriend so you have forgotten about me?" Otis said as he came to sit with me in the cafeteria.

"Of course not Otis. You are my sweetheart."

"Haha. I know."

I couldn't believe it myself that everything was back to normal. I was finally happy and normal. It was the sophomores year and I really wanted to throw a party. I discussed everything with my friends and this time it was not going to be a small party with just my friends, all the students of sophomores year were invited. It was going to be a grand party and I was really exited for it.

The party was from 7:00 and me, Jess, Otis and Alex were preparing everything. Zach was with his best friend Jason Upstairs preparing the hot tub for the party.

It was 8:30 when the party actually started it was fun and happening. Everyone was dancing, playing bear pong, suck and blow etc.

Me and Zach too were playing suck and blow. When it was his turn to blow the paper to me he intentionally blew the paper away so that he could kiss me. He laid down on me and kissed me. He was a little extra romantic this evening.
