It's Either You Or No One

When jasmine checked back at the wall clock, it's already past eight. She's been trying to reach her granddaughters since an hour plus, but yet none of them picked up the calls. Infact, they turned off their phones, which made jasmine became more worried. Her hair by now is now a total mess like she was struck by an electric. Hmm, yeah. Maybe electrocuted. Frustration has a lot to do with that. I guess. She grabbed the second iPhone 14 which her son, Justin, had bought for her few weeks ago before leaving for L.A, from the glass center table. At once within a blink of an eye, she began dialing her son's number.

His name

"Hi," Britney waved at him and his friends.

Camila took her hand for an handshake, "Ah, you must be Britney. Bern, has said so many nice things about you and it is good meeting you for the first time. I'm Camila."

"Tyler. Camila's boyfriend and future husband." Tyler also took her hand for an handshake.

"It's nice to meet you guys." Britney smiled.

"A pleasure. You're welcome." Tyler grinned.

"Wait, was it you who rode that silver Bentley Bentayga that dropped Bernard off by the station yesterday afternoon?" Camila asked.

When Britney nodded her head with a cheerful smile, Tyler and Camila gasped and turned towards Bernard.

Bernard raised his eyebrows at them, "What is it? Can you guys please behave yourselves in front of someone new?"

"Absolutely." Tyler stated and coiled his arm around Camila's shoulders, "Baby, we have to stay calm. Bernard's cupcake is here."

Camila nodded her head and whispered something into Tyler's ear that made him laugh. "I know, right? The future is yet to come."

Bernard frowned and gritted his teeths at his friends, "Britney is not my cupcake. We are just friends, okay? Now stop comparing someone with junk foods."

Though blushed in her heart and it could still be seen physically on her red cheeks. She liked the word 'Cupcake' it made bolts and nuts transformed into butterflies inside her belly.

Rolling his eyes over his friends, Bernard turned towards Britney, "Don't mind my friends, they can be annoying sometimes."

Placing her hand on his arm, she shook her head with a sweet smile, "It's alright."

For a minute, Bernard felt a slight shiver of cold on his skin tone. And as she took her hand off his arm, he wished she had never retrieved it.

Wait, what's up with him? Why should he be thinking of such a naughty thing? He better don't start developing anything nasty for her.

She's just a friend he met yesterday. She might have a boyfriend and he's unaware. 'Bernard, stay on your limits. Don't develop anything for her.' He said to his thoughts.

"It's breaking time, so I bought some lunch for us. Including your friends, I hope you don't mind at all?" Britney asked while placing some packs of snacks on the desk.

Tyler and Camila grinned excitedly. They didn't bother to spare a glance at Bernard, though they knew he was watchyand was gonna give them a deadly glare if they stare at him or lay hands on the snack packs but who cares?

They picked one each and started unsealing them.

Bernard helplessly shook his head. His friends are so shameless. Looking at Britney, he sighed, "You shouldn't have bothered yourself doing this. It's too much already."

"I haven't done anything yet, Bernard. These are just a token of appreciation." She chuckled.

"For what?" He asked. "Did I perform another good Samaritan tactics today?"

Britney chuckled and vigorously shook her head. If only he knew how much her heart had been craving to see his face today. She has no idea why and she found it very difficult to read or sleep last night.

It'll sound awkward if she explain things out to him. Will he even understand her emotions? Just yesterday they met here, something weird and strange, something that she has never felt before in her life is pulling her heart closer to him every single minute.

Every lectures she had in class today before breaking hour was completely useless. Her mindset, brain and sense organs found it difficult to focus on what the professors taught. The only thing banging in her head was his name 'Bernard'
