It's Either You Or No One

When jasmine checked back at the wall clock, it's already past eight. She's been trying to reach her granddaughters since an hour plus, but yet none of them picked up the calls. Infact, they turned off their phones, which made jasmine became more worried. Her hair by now is now a total mess like she was struck by an electric. Hmm, yeah. Maybe electrocuted. Frustration has a lot to do with that. I guess. She grabbed the second iPhone 14 which her son, Justin, had bought for her few weeks ago before leaving for L.A, from the glass center table. At once within a blink of an eye, she began dialing her son's number.

A hug from a girl

Outside the building

It's time for the full-time students to take their leave for the day and now the part-timers are tripping in for their lectures.

Britney stood at the foyer of the faculty with her books in her crossed arms. It seems like she's waiting for someone special. Well, who could it be?

Seeing the number of students tripping out and in, she glance at her watch and sighed before shaking her head, "Where is he? Isn't it closing time already? Ugh, Britney you're such an idiot. How could you miss taking his number? What if he had already left?"

Just because Britney wanted to meet Bernard the guy she knew few hours ago, she hurried with her classwork and couldn't finish with the class dictations.

She had to borrow her course-mate Stacey's notebook for completion.

After the little conversation she shared with Bernard and the yet of him to be known, Britney felt more nervous to see him more. She wished he was her course-mate.

She doesn't know how to explain this if someone asks her why? But all she know is that she like Bernard and he kinda serve as a good friend too.

Britney could swear she was so motivated to tell her friends in class about him. She only told Stacey and she auctioned her to hurry up to catch up with him before he leaves or else she might never get to see him forever.

Minutes has passed and now only part-timers are more seen in the building. It's just three minutes past two in the afternoon. Where is he? Has he gone home?

Britney's brows curled downwards. She'll be disappointed in herself if she lost her new pal and she'll never be able to forgive herself ever again.

She can still remember when Bernard told her that he was studying on a scholarship program. Hmm, he has to be very brilliant and intelligent. No wonder he barely speak or comment in conversation.

During their lunch, she was the one doing the talking the most and he was just nodding his head like a good student paying attention. But he never spoke about his family. Nor was his background laid out of his mouth.

Is it that he is the secretive type or what her mother usually calls 'Private personnel'?

Britney shrugged her shoulders. Well whatever it might be. She'll wait according to him 'There's still a big time ahead of them.'

Ugh, Britney is running out of patience. Her phone rings. She took it and rolled her eyes after seeing the caller ID.

It's her brother Princeton. He had called several times and because her mind was focused in what she wanted, she missed his calls.

Ding! A sound notification vibrated her iPad. She read the message. It's still from him. "Are you still in the building? We're leaving. I just text to inform you so you won't waste your time searching for us in the premises."

Rolling her eyes, she hissed. "Whatever, do you have to act like you care? I brought my car and it's parked in the garage. I bet you weren't too blind to see it." Britney texted him back.

Of course the silver 'Bentley Bentayga' her great-grandma bought for her as her fifteenth birthday present before she passed away is right there in the student's garage.

All five of them had their luxury vehicles for moving from one place to another as source of transportation so why do her brothers have to wait behind for her like she was four?

Britney took a deep breath and glance at her watch one more time before taking a step to walk away. Her thought was right. What if Mr handsome has left and she's just here waiting for him?

A notification beeped in her phone inside her purse. Britney completely ignored it. She knew it was her silly brother. He wants to taunt her back for snapping at him through the text. Well, she'll get to delete later and face his wrath by the time she arrives home.

While Britney was busy walking lonely towards the garage, she heard a voice called out her name, "Britney!"

She stopped right on her tracks immediately. It's customarily familiar. Yes she had captured who it was. Her eyes widened in excitement and she turned around immediately. "Bernard!" She ran to meet him like a child who lost her parents for years.

Bernard squealed in shock after getting a hard hug from her. He wasn't expecting a hug from her either.

He smiled and slowly arc his arms around her. It felt nice to get a hug from a girl for the first time in his life.

It's weird for him to feel that way but it's the truth. All through his life as a child without a father has been an unquenchable heat in his life.

So many students and pupils called him a bastard. Some blamed him for the death of his father and called him bad luck. He never grew up to meet his father. But according to his mother, his father loved him more than he did to her.
