Three days after the bandit incident Alex & co reached purple dawn city, the home of the purple dawn sect. As they left th carriges the guard captain started speaking,
"a room for each of you has been reserved at the purple dawn tower, a hotel for cultivaters. You will all be given 5 low level spirit stones to spend as you wish. The gates to the purple dawn sect will open at midday tomorrow. We don't know what the tests will be but we know there are five, and the top five candidate can enter the inner sect amd even possable catch the eye of an elder. I wish you all luck."
With that he and the rest of the guards left after hiving them each a pouch with five cryistals that looked like quarts with glowing specks inside.
[Low level spirit stone: a naturally formed mineral that absorbes incredably pure qi over time. This qi is very mild and easy to absorbe.]
'So the standard currency exists. Hopefully the other cliches don't happen, I'm realy not I'm the mood to come across some cocky young master. I'll head to my room first, maybe turn some of my less impressive techniques into manuals to sell. I heard this place has a decently sized scripture pavilion.'
With that Alex started heading to the purple dawn tower, it wasent hard to miss considering their where only 4 building with more then 2 floors in this town. The alchemy tower, the scripture pavilion, the purple dawn tower, and the mayors house.
On his way to the purple dawn tower Alex saw many difrent things such as stream performers, food stalls, exotic shops, and more.
Reaching the tower, he enterd the foyer, it was rather empty but their where a few people here and their, most of them dressed extravagantly or with a air of hauttness around them as they wither stood around for the sole purpose of showing off, or played chess with eachother, also for the purposes of showing off.
Walking up to the receptionist, they where your stereotypical cultivation beauty, pail skin, this wrists, long black hair, delicate eyebrows, and 'assets' that had to be bad for her back health, to bad that wasent his type. "I have a room reserved. It should be under Alex crow?"
The receptionist smiled and handed him a key with the number 15 on it, "your rook is on the third floor. Enjoy your stay." "Thank you."
With that Alex was going to go to his room, but a young man, about 16 stoped him. He was dressed in fancy white robes with gold acsents along its sides and cuffs, along with a green belt. He also had the most over embellished sword sheath at his side that he had ever seen, low grade spirit stones, fancy gems, gold, silver, other miscellaneous metals, he questioned how it staed attached to the belt without falling off with how heavy it must be.
As for the young man himself, he had a cocky expression and an upturned chin, his skin was clear and white with long black hair tied up in a high ponytail with a hair ornament just slightly less fancy then the sword sheath.
'Fuck.'
"Wait right their! How dare yoy flirt the the beautiful miss yue'er! And how dare yoy try and impersonate a noble in this fine establishment! For this disrespect I challenge you to a duel! The looser must call themselves a pathetic waits of space and cripple themselves!"
...
"Huh? Flirting? Impersonating a noble? While I'm not entirely aposed to slapping a bitch, I am not in the mood."
"How dare you lie! You where obviously trying to flirt with the yue'er, and you are obviously a commener, I can tell just by how your dressed, yoy even had the gall to bring a wild beast into this fine establishment!"
To be fair, Alex was the only person dressed in a plain black cultivation robe. It was high quality and about as close as yoy could get to a suit you could fight in. But everyone else was dressed about as fancy as the young man.
Calling nuwa a wild beats was a bit of a stretch though, side note, she had been relaxing around his shoulders this entire time, but at the mention of her being a 'wild beast' she asked 'when do eat him?' While glaring at the young man.
Sighing Alex said "Alright, fine. Let's fight. Outside the purple dawn tower, now. Looser cripples themselves. But when I win you can't go crying to your dad or master that I won and get them to try and avenge yoy or something."
"Very well! But when I win you must admit yoy are nothing but a filthy commener and cripple yourself!"
As they walked out of the tower Alex thought
'Does he ever stop yelling? And what's with this hate against commeners? He says it with a hard r somehow.'
Once they where outside the tower one of the other patrons followed them and became the referee. As the young man pulled out his sword, which was just as extravagant as its sheath, he said "Alright commoner, prepair to cry! I am ons of the participants of the purple dawn sects entrance exam! And I have refined 50% of music blood along side being at the peak of body forging with 7 meridians opend! Great wolf slash!"
Sidestepping the attack Alex thought.
'Realy? Monologuing? What are you? A third rate villain? And calling the name if your attack aswell? Sigh'
Useing [serpents dance] he menoverd around the young man, before punching him in the back of the head heard enough to slam their face into the pavement.
"Yea yea, your so great. I'm at marrow refining and have 9 opened meridians."
As he went to walk aback inside the young man jumped up and tried to attack him again, but this time nuwa grew large enough to compleatly wrap around him, and was about to eat the young man's head before Alex said "nuwa stop, leave him." Reluctantly nuwa untangled from the man, after breaking both his arms, and returned to her second favourite on alexs shoulders.
Turing to look at the 'referee' Alex said "he was about to sneak attack me and you did nothing, but nuwa was going to defend me and you reach for a knife? I have half a mind to beat you up to. And your 15% marrow refining and first stage qi absorbing g isn't going to do anything."
As he walked away the referee, who was the father of the young man, enterd a cold sweat as he began to question how that freak could tell he was about to attack without even looking at him. Amd even more so how he know his exact cultivation level.
Alex bought an empty book in one of the near by stalls before going to his room, 'which technique should I write? Most if them are two high level to even consider. Guess I'll have to just use a downgraded version of [serpents dance]. How about I call it [snakes entrapment]? Sure.'
Alex started to 'downgraded' [serpents dance] so that it would be more reasonable when he sold it. [Serpants dance] was caused around flexibility, maneuverability and evasiveness, speed was secondary.
So he was making [snakes entrapment] to be more of a cornering movement technique with the foundation of slowly creating around the target untill you where in a position to strike. After a few hours it was dusk and he had finished the full manual.
Picking it up he headed to the scripture pavilion to see how much cash he could get for this, he also planed to browse a few techniques of theirs for some inspiration.
The night-life of purple dawn city was very difrent from the day life. Purple dawn city, and subsequently purple dawn sect, where part of a 'grey zone' which wasent part of either the orthodox or unorthodox factions. This meant that both righteous and demonic cultivators where alowed to roam free, so long as they didn't comit any crimes. But them again, this was a world of cultivation. 'crimes' where comited by whoever was weaker. Even if you massacred an entire village, so long as you where strong enough, no one would stop you.
Back to the previous topic of the night life, instead of streat performers and road side stalls, their where suducers and shady markets. But Alex didn't care much unless they had some way of making him stronger. Once at the scripture pavilion, Alex walked up to the receptionist and placed his manual on the table.
"I would like to have this graded so I can sell it please."
Looking down from their own book, the receptionist, a middle aged man with grazing hair, opend the manual and began to read. After half an hour he put the mannual down and said, "tier 2 mortal, good quality, decent as a foundation for future techniques, doesent have a particular alignment, and easy to learn. 15 low grade spirit stones. Deal?"
"Seems fair. Deal. But i'd like to exchange the spirit stones for reading time instead."
"Granted. You have 2 hours of reading time. Once that time is over an assistant will find you amd ask you leave. Enjoy your stay." The receptionist then went back to reading.
'Study time.'
