58 Chapter 58: Pit Stop

Chapter 58: Pit Stop

~Albus POV~

*Brrr*

*Thud*

Landing down on a platform on the destroyed building I began to set up a place as Cinder glances outside as she spoke out, "Albus thanks for the ride. But why exactly are we here in Mountain Glenn?"

Mountain Glenn is the failed city alright.

Mountain Glenn was an expansion of Vale to the southeast that was overrun and destroyed by the Creatures of Grimm.

Mountain Glenn is a defunct city-dwelling comprised of destroyed and dilapidated buildings. Grimm and sand have begun to retake the landscape.

The area also boasted an extensive subway system, taking advantage of the preexisting underground caverns; these caverns also contain a makeshift village as derelict as the rest of the city.

*Zzzz*

Transmuting the area creating a sphere to protect us from the outside Grimm I began to talk to Cinder as I activated the emergency lights in the airship, "For me to take some time investigating the city and learning to hide my magic. I need time for now and we might be able to find some good stuff around here. Merlot Industries should be around…"

Yeah, Merlot Industries should be around here…

Mountain Glenn was the Kingdom of Vale's first serious attempt at expansion and most probably the worst mistake to create.

The kingdom developed an elaborate underground metro system that allowed the settlers to commute to and from the main kingdom and the new territory, thus bypassing the danger of the Grimm smart while also setting up an aggressive perimeter defense that worked for a short period of time, keeping the thousands of the city's residents safe in their new home.

Sadly though with a lady controlling Grimm that could only last for so long.

However, Mountain Glenn did not boast the natural barriers Vale did, and as such Grimm attacks began to increase every day until inevitably, they overwhelmed the city's defenses.

But the attacks were man-made because of a certain company screwing that place over.

These ever-increasing attacks were partly due to the actions of Merlot Industries which worked to attract more Grimm for the purpose of experimentation.

And I plan to see if there is anything worth collecting.

In a last-ditch effort to stave off destruction, the citizens of Mountain Glenn took refuge in the tunnels they had initially cleared for their subways, converting them into an underground settlement and cutting themselves off from the surface entirely.

Unfortunately, this supposed safe haven was eventually compromised when an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern filled with subterranean Grimm.

And well…

No need to explain the long tombs of that underground system, do I?

The ruins of Mountain Glenn now stand as a reminder for history to reflect upon.

But it is also filled with great resources that anyone could find.

That was when Cider grew a confused expression on her face as she began to talk to me, "Really? Well… I guess it's good to resupply searching around Mountain Glenn."

Nodding at that I began to take out my journal detailing some notes of simple enchantment base magic more on stealth as I talked to her, "Yeah. What I needed for the both of us is to coat our magic to ensure a certain wizard and witch stay out of our way. The last thing we need is to be placed in their shadow war."

Blinking at my blatant response she was about to say more but I began to use my alchemy to create a bracelet for her to wear.

*Zzzz*

Creating the bracelet and using my Mana I began to enchant a spell of Stealth Magic to ensure it hides Cinder's magic signature as I wrote it down, "With this enchantment, it should be helpful to you."

"How would this be useful for me?"

Tilting her head slightly I began to briefly explain to her that there are people who hunt down magic users to her, "To be sure that magic users can't be hunted. You wouldn't believe but there are two groups that hunt down magic users to their sides. No choice of freedom mind you but well… you don't get a choice unless you want to get caught."

Hearing that I handed her the enchanted Stealth Magic bracelet I told her as I felt my Mana drain a bit, "This should at least hide your Spirit Arts and Spirits. At least people won't be able to see or hear them along with hiding your magic except yourself."

Cinder takes it as I began to try and sense her for her Mana…

Nothing.

I didn't sense her having it as I see Cinder play around with her spirits except for the fact I can't see but can see through her motions that she is playing with her spirits as I have my very own speaking out.

Guess Spirits could see Spirits despite them being invisible.

Yeah, I figured as much but good info to know.

Now I just need to take time to practice my Stealth Magic before taking control of squashing the spiders for good.

*BOOM*

*RUMBLE*

"Whoa!"

"Was that an explosion?"

Yeah, what the hell is going on here?

Opening up the small sphere I ready my sword to analyze the outside situation.

~Adam POV~

*BOOM*

"Quick Members of the Fang covering Fire!"

"Yes, Captain Taurus sir!"

"Argh…!"

"Quick more Grimm coming to our right!"

This turns out to be a very peculiar day has it?

When the news of the rumors that Ghira is finally stepping down soon certainly caused quite the commotion.

But it's only speculation so far but the rumors are seemingly becoming truer the next days to the next.

I haven't heard much but according to Sienna that the rumor is no rumors.

Just plain facts.

Have to admit though it certainly came as a surprise Sienna wanted the White Fang to form branches in the Kingdoms as I'm currently the rank of Captain just below Vice Branch and Branch Leader following my leader's orders.

Ghira got behind the plan to create safe centers for the Faunus so he supported the expansion in other areas near the kingdoms.

Good plan as any in the right step helping the Faunus.

Our Branch Leader is currently asking the Captain ranks like us to create settlements here in Mountain Glenn as the base then push forward towards the Forever Fall to create the branch centers.

Hard to do with our current supplies but we have to manage.

For the Faunus.

*Bang*

Ah!

Surprised I managed to see our newest member joining the soon-to-be-created Vale Branch was our current High Leader daughter Blake Belladonna the same girl that she allowed me to join the Fang meeting the High Leader Ghira in person.

"Careful Adam there is more Grimm in the area."

"Thanks, Blake."

"You're welcome."

Nodding at that I began to refocus my efforts on saving my fellow brethren as I draw my sword.

*Swoosh*

Evading another Grimm attack I prepared a quick slash motion eradicating the monster as I see more of the grunts try their best.

Grr…

There is really no end to them.

I will die for the freedom of the Faunus as I will keep them safe.

As I was readying my blade I saw Blake my Vice Captain having a hard time as we are being forced back in a corner as did the rest of the members as she spoke, "Huff… there is really no end to Grimm. We have to take care of them soon Captain Taurus."

Yeah…

This is really -

*KABOOM*

What?

That was when I saw a sudden explosion of red sparks before fire consumed the Grimm consumed the area where the Grimm was as we all heard no saw an airship going off towards us?

I didn't know we have air support?

No, wait how did it attack without any weapons attached?!

Next, I heard the person talking through the speakers of their airship as we stayed cautious and listen to the conversation.

"Hey, folks seem like you need some help – hey? Blake is that you! It's me Albus how's it has been!"

"Wha… wait, Albus! When did you get an airship!"

"About a week ago and would like to talk more but… you know Grimm."

"Yeah, Grimm! Mind lending some help!"

"Sure no problem."

Well…

Guess our new guest seems to know my Vice Captain and the way she spoke fondly.

In fact, I do seem to recall some debates about him granting permission for him to enter Menagerie.

Shaking my headfirst I began to refocus my efforts on the Grimm first but his Semblance seems to be quite useful as I didn't see any firearms or weapons equipped so I guess must be long-range Semblance.

At least his helpful in saving my Faunus.

Time to get to work.
