Chapter 53: So, Magic is a Thing
~Cinder POV~
"And so… magic is a thing."
Inside a private hotel in Mantle in the slums as they gave thanks to Albus' help they let us stay for the night as he paid them greatly.
Blinking.
All I could do was be dumbfounded seeing him perform feats of magic after laying down the rules or rather secrets of this world.
That was something I wasn't prepared for.
And the fact he casually said that seems like it was no big deal to him at all.
Living my life in survival against abuse only to stumble upon the concept of magic existing…
It was a bit too much for me but as much as I hate to admit explains too much as Albus began to explain to me using magic.
I would say it would be nonsense but…
Looking at the balls of light floating around talking happily and me able to interact with them seems to make me believe it.
I mean come on!
Who wouldn't want to hold these little cuties as they sound like children at times and the next reasonable people?
Except for the fact they aren't people but Spirits from what I heard of them through Albus' words have certainly had my eyes open to them.
I wonder if they are related to that fairy tale I read once upon a time.
With the main character named what was her name… Ah!
Her name was Alyx the story is of a girl who fell through Remnant and found herself in a brand new world.
Quite honestly though I feel like I'm that character but with the new world coming to me for a change not going after it.
But still, that leads me to ask Albus a curious question if magic is in this world then what about… the fairy tale world did he perhaps meet Alyx!
"Hey Albus, have you ever encountered a girl named Alyx before?"
Raising a confused eyebrow he shook his head I was a bit disappointed as I thought he met the person.
But maybe this fairy tale could be true…
I mean when he told me about his favorite fairy tales I said it was 'The Girl Who Fell Through The World' and he replied with the 'The Story of the Seasons' as all he said was real.
The maidens exist and so did their magic and explained a secret organization that made them real all protected by the highest of security by the Headmasters along with the relics of great versatility and power.
If I get the Maiden power then -
"No, you won't."
Huh?
Blinking in surprise seeing his dragon eye as he stares at me he began to explain there is actually a trick to getting it, "Sorry Cinder but to get a Maiden power there is a trick to get it. Killing one won't do since they send there power at random if they died or they think of a female girl to transfer their power towards when they die."
Oh…
Frowning at this I wish I could get to use magic.
I mean every kid would want to and –

Albus said only females as in girls could get it but…
How did he get magic to begin with?
Seeing him smirk knowing my thoughts I pout as I began to ask him my greatest question I want to ask, "Hmph. Know it all. Ok, then Albus how can one get magic as you did? Or is it possible for me to use magic?"
Thinking hard for a bit one of his spirits went over as it began to speak out about the possibility of existing getting my hopes up, "Hmm… while she can't use magic from herself she could use one of us Spirits to help her use magic."
The more I listen the more I began to have more hope about being able to use magic as Albus began to talk nodding in agreement, "In that case, she would need to be a Spirit User. Probably the first eh… technically second this world has ever seen. Me being the first of course."
Rolling my eyes at this but he isn't wrong.
But the idea of using magic I used to dream stuff like that when I was a little kid but never thought it to be real…
At least till now, that is.
Wanting to learn more about the subject Albus began to start drawing a circle I got confused as Albus glanced over to her with his spirits as he asked them, "Yo. Ia can you tell me what elemental spirit would be best for Cinder?"
As the red ball of light called Ia began to move around me as I was a bit nervous as it merely twirled around me as it began to talk, "Yup! I say a Fire and Water Spirit would suit her as the rest are very bad usage."
Fire and Water?
Blinking a bit I began to ponder towards Albus with some confusion as I asked, "Say… does this relate to that Alchemy stuff you mentioned?"
"Hahaha!"
"Oh no, not at all."
Laughing a bit at that remark he replied to me with his hand waving up and down towards me the question, "Alchemy is more science than magic Cinder but if you are interested you need to invest some time. But guess we need to make two summons first for you."
Hearing this I got excited by the fact to be able to use magic.
Even if I can't it would be cool to learn how to use magic like Alyx says in the story of her journey meeting with unfamiliar creatures and spirits that live in that land.
But I couldn't help but ask Albus a question of my own as I couldn't help but want answers for myself, "Albus… why trust me to use Magic? Or I guess Spirits Arts is how you describe it. Why trust a total stranger…?"
Hearing that he paused briefly as he sighs out loud to himself as he began to smile as he simply replied, "Honestly. I felt like I need to reintroduce the world to something long lost. That and figure out if you can do it and if it works I'll teach you how to handle Mana through your body using your new Quasi Spirits."
Yes!
Although I don't like the idea of being tested first about becoming the second Spirit User I get to use magic and be able to use Magic Spells!
I can forgive him for using me like that and I mean who wouldn't want to use magic?
Honestly, I can't wait to learn and he said he introduce more of the topic.
Would that make Albus someone targeted in the future though…

And the people in ATLAS would no doubt try to monopolize this if they ever found out as they would try to use him.
Frowning at the idea I talked to Albus who was he going to introduce the topic to as I asked curiously, "Really? But where are you going to actually introduce the topic to reintroduce magic though? In what Kingdoms would – "
"Menagerie of course."
Blinking in surprise I half expected Vacuo or maybe truly Vale but…
Menagerie wasn't even close to my mind of introducing the idea of magic to Faunus, but he seems really happy at the idea as he continues his plans, "Of course first I want to build a good name with them first with some techniques I have in mind. Magic is included but I want to help the Faunus create a Kingdom with them since the White Fang helped me out. It's only fair I return the favor a 1000-fold."
1000 fold?
Well…
That certainly is an interesting way of returning a favor.
One hell of one as well to return it that much with the Faunus being the first race to technically obtain magic…
Huh.
Thinking more of the idea Atlas and the rest of the Kingdoms would want a piece of Albus' knowledge, especially the corrupt ones.
Expressing an ugly face at the idea this kid really needs some bodyguard.
Smirking a bit when I graduate from a Huntsman Academy I can sign up to be his personal bodyguard for thanks.
"Alright Cinder time to get you your spirit companion and believe me you won't regret making a contract with them."
From the way he spoke about them he seems to have a high opinion of them.
Makes me quite nervous as he began to instruct me using my own Aura would suffice to summon to activate the Fire Spirit Circle I gulped at this.
"Whew…"
