Chapter 44: Ruby Rose…?

~Ruby…? POV~

"RUBY!!!!"

While I flail my arms around I saw that my friend Penny flies in carrying Blake.

Blake is thrown forward as Penny is knocked back by Cinder's fireball but Blake manages to grab me.

She uses Gambol Shroud to hook onto the platform. She tries to swing back up, but Cinder launches another fire jet that burns through Gambol Shroud's ribbon. I and Blake fall and disappear into the abyss.

The last living person I see is Penny looks on, distraught.

Then nothing….

….

….

Darkness…

All I could see was the darkness enveloping me as I and our team tried to push off the enemy.

Guess pushing off wasn't exactly our strong suit.

Hehe…

That joke was so hollow makes me wish Yang was around I guess I would be joining her shortly regardless.

We all tried our best to defeat Salem and her goons but instead we got ourselves to blame being pushed like this.

But as I fall down I remember what a certain thief said to me following what he said made me rethink on my enemy words up to this point.

'You want to be a hero? Then play the part and die like every other Huntsman in history! As for me, I'll do what I do best: lie, steal, cheat and survive!'

'You got spirit, Red. But this is the real world! The real world is COLD! The real world doesn't care about spirit!'

'The rose has thorns!'

'I sent your sister to claim the power of the Winter Maiden. When I realized we'd been compromised, I knew we couldn't wait any longer. The Staff and the Lamp have to be locked away.'

'I'm sorry it's come to this, but until Atlas and the Relics are safe, you're all under arrest.'

'I knew your plan would be bold, but I never could have predicted all of this... At least, not without a little help from Jinn. I suppose I have all of you to thank for one last lesson. Sometimes, if you want to win... you simply can't do it alone.'

'You should have never threatened me. And you… should have never been born.'

Even after all of that we still failed…

I'll take solace of the fact that we tried our best to warn the rest of Remnant of Salem.

I'll take it as my last goal for my duty as a Huntress was to warn everyone of the looming threat.

At least I hope Ozpin and the rest can pick up where we left off…

Waking up slightly as I felt myself feel the coldness – wait that doesn't sound right?

Feeling the cold?

My eyes widen as I woke up from what appeared to be the land of… MANTLE!

"Mantle!"

What?

What is going on here?

I thought Mantle was crushed under the floating city of Atlas when we took the Staff of Creation away from the vault that made Atlas lose it's main power source.

Standing up clearing my eyes and feeling my aura working again I then see my baby Crescent Rose standing on the ice heavily damaged as I frown holding my weapon, "Wait… if Crescent Rose is here then… MY TEAM!"

My team my friends!

If they fell with me then they have to be here as well!

Glancing around though I took on a frowning look as I then realized that no one was around meaning that we must have separated part ways from each other inside that… Pocket Dimension said the spirit of the Staff of Creation.

If my weapon is here then maybe the rest is also nearby I can't wait for Team RWBY to be reunited again!

But…

Glancing at the now stable Mantle at the distance I began to have some doubts as I talked to myself, "But… if were sent to the void like Ambrosius said not to fall… where exactly am I on Remnant?"

Now that's the question of the day now isn't it?

Sigh…

And me without my cookies to figure out what exactly is going on anymore.

But maybe Ozpin can help me find my friends although I am wary to trust him his my only hope to find my friends.

There is the General in Atlas but…

Suddenly I was then remembering a flashback remembering the last time asking the General for help.

'Mantle… You're still worried about Mantle?! Remnant is doomed, Ruby. Unless we leave, Salem will destroy Atlas and with it, any hope humanity has left. We need to think about the future. If she makes it through our defenses, everything that follows will be on your hands.'

Right…

Might be a bad call.

Flinching at remembering what happened to Ironwood…

I think it's best if I meet up with some old friends that can help me out.

Maybe Penny is around but she's loyal to Atlas perhaps Pietro could help me out but leave out Ironwood.

Next I see my Crescent Rose broke down a piece of itself as I frown seeing the poor state of my weapon as I talk to myself, "Sigh… For now I need to repair my weapon. This is going to take some time infiltrating Atlas who else can help me out in Atlas to make an ally of?"

Truly I need to think hard first of what to do next but first I need to get my weapon prepared.

Taking out my Scroll I turned it on to see my Aura sign but contact and everything else is out of the question as it goes to error sighing seeing that my Scroll would be no use here if everything is different.

Well at least I have a place in mind to visit.

Better make my way there to a blacksmith to help me repair my weapon.

Then find Ozpin to help me out on searching for my friends.

Using my Semblance Petal Burst I rushed over to Mantle to see what is the situation is like.

Hopefully I can meet a few of my team members of team RWBY there.

Yang, and Blake please be safe.

Better hope Weiss and Jaune didn't fall in as well.

After my beatings from Maria and not too bruised up I began to work on creating some Meteors from what I gathered from Echidna past achievements of created Meteors for me to use.

Re: Zero technology is weird but not something new.

Thankfully Pietro allowed me to use some of his spare parts for me to tinker how I see fit as I began to work on creating some materials while Maria is out and about searching around Mantle using her new youth again.

She tends to keep on saying youth nowadays now.

For now I'm trying to reconstruct Echidna old Meteor Staff her primary weapon other than magic as it was pretty handy to have at hand.

Or at least make a bracelet version for it.

A meteor that was created by Echidna as it is able to charge up and fire a giant burning blast of light. It's undodgeable even by Reinhard because it locks onto a target's gate and tracks them down until they're hit.

Consequently, it drains the user of almost all of their mana.

But hey at least I get to have a big gun to use and possibly take out the enemy in the process if they are magic users like say the Maidens, Ozpin, and Salem.

Hopefully I won't have to use it on the good guys but considering their history…

I ain't taking no chances with them.

Working on it though I began to pout finding some issues with the metal at hand as I talked to myself, "Damn it… seems like the metal is not compatable enough to be useful Meteors? Perhaps a different material is needed or is the mechanism not built well enough?"

Who knew engineering was this hard.

But I got to at least try this out.
