Is it Wrong to be Reincarnated after Death?

Live your life to the fullest. Haru heard these words a lot, but no matter how many times, his heart refused to listen. 'Live life to the fullest? How am I supposed to, stuck in a hospital with a few days left?' These were his thoughts as his life slowly left his grasp. That was his thought, but during one of those days as he sighed, observing with a broken smile, the dazzling sun now waning, the door of his room burst open, generating a sound so loud it scared him. "...I'm sorry if I'm late!" Said the girl, panting as if she had run miles and miles without stopping as sweat clearly flowed down her cheeks. --- This is a work of fiction and I do not hold anything of Danmachi other than my own character and backstory. Reincarnation System

Out of the blacksmith's shop, Haru headed to what he remembered to be his home. Before he was born, his parents were the owners, and as he walked undisturbed, memories of all the training previous Haru had done continued to cross his mind. Not only had he done his best to stay in shape, since he had received the sword, he had continued to swing it up and down, with the aim of becoming strong enough to reach the summit, and the present Haru fully shared that feeling, not only was it the fastest way to impact the world, it would also satisfy the wish of the previous Haru.

'I may have a different purpose to yours, but what we want fits perfectly'

Although he didn't know anything about the process in itself of so-called 'Reincarnation', Haru was convinced that the version of himself in this universe was watching over him. And as if to reassure that part of himself that was composed of memories of the previous Haru, he could only act with sincerity, deep down it was himself with whom he was trying to interact, and he hated lies and manipulations more than anything else.

As if a rustle of wind passed through him, Haru felt the strange concern reassured, which made him take a long breath before proceeding further. Whatever happened, he was happy that the previous Haru had decided to trust him, or at least that's how he interpreted the feeling he had just felt.

"Now that I'm officially alone in my house, I'd say it's best to check out what this strange system might be."

[Reincarnation System: Booting Up completed...]

It'd been standing in front of him the whole time, but he still had no idea what it meant, so he chose to change first. Although Haru didn't have much choice in his clothing, it was not important to him. The previous Haru had developed quite useful household skills, in fact his first thought after taking off his clothes was to put them on one side for the next day, so that he could wash them and leave them to dry.

The house itself wasn't so spacious for a family, but being completely alone, Haru still found this house quite spacious and with everything that was needed. The only thing missing being the presence of a real bathroom where he could take a shower, or immerse himself in a bathtub, but this because it was considered quite expensive, so his only choice was to use the water of the nearby river, which fortunately wasn't more than 400 ft from home.

"On second thought, Gaia mentioned that my status would be visible once I received a 'falna', who knows how many other features this system has to offer."

Now lying on the bed having already changed and laid his dirty clothes aside for the next day, Haru was looking towards the ceiling as these words came out unintentionally from his mouth.

[The end goal of the Host is to change the world for the better, and the system was created directly to assist in this task. I hope my first Host will succeed.]

These words led Haru to nod. From what had been explained to him, the system was nothing more than an instrument created by Gaia. There were several things that she hadn't explained to him at all. He had a small inventory, able to carry some small object, he could use a sort of [Appraisal] to analyse carefully any object the system would be able to understand, just like before, transforming what were simple properties of materials and objects in themselves into attributes easier for Haru to understand, such as increased attack and defence.

But what intrigued him most was the presence of the [Points of the Reincarnated]. They could be used and allocated to some functions of the system, such as its inventory, making it a bit larger whenever Haru would allocate them. After this explanation, however, he was also explained that the inventory was a very small space, so far only a cube about 3 inches for each square.

[.. With the same points, you can request other functions of the system, and much more, but for now the user can not get any, since it hasn't yet been inserted any falna in your body.]

He had well understood that getting a falna from a God had to be his first crucial step. He didn't yet have access to his [Status] and couldn't fully use the system, but Haru was barely at the beginning of what will be his long journey, starting from the beginning with all the functions of the system would surely make him dependent on it. Haru was convinced this could negatively affect his collection of points for the future, something he absolutely could not afford.

'I'm not sure, but apparently Gaia predicted that outcome, which is why she must have set limits...'

His eyes felt heavy. He had on him the fatigue that the previous Haru had accumulated during the day, and in addition his mind was exhausted after all the events that transpired one after the other, without ever really giving him time to take a long, deserved rest...

---

Haru opened his eyes slowly. When he woke up, however, he felt uncomfortable. He was fully accustomed to living in hospital for more than a year, and although the food wasn't good at all, every day he would wake up knowing that his friends, or Asumi, or someone else would come to visit him to keep him company, but after realizing that in this world, he was alone, a smile formed on his face as he carried a hand on his face to wipe away the tears.

'Come on, Haru. Asumi wouldn't want to see you cry...'

According to the reasoning that time had no value in the judgment room, Asumi could have been watching Haru this very moment, and she would surely feel responsible if she had seen him in this state. He nodded to himself, gaining strength enough to raise from the bed as he had several things to do.

After washing the previous day's dirty clothes properly, Haru knew it was time for a bath as he had to change into his working clothes. He had told the blacksmith that he would wait a couple of days exactly because as Haru's memoirs confirmed, adventurers were to come to the village on an extermination mission of goblins who were dangerously approaching the village, his intention was precisely to kindly ask the adventurers for a ride, and if they wanted money, the previous Haru had kept a nice amount of savings, so he was confident that the adventurers would accept his escort mission to gain some free money.

The day passed quickly and, with Haru having finished all the tasks for the day, it was time for his usual training. The previous Haru was accustomed to running long distances, swinging the sword as he had been taught by the blacksmith to improve, and doing normal push-ups to improve his strength. But Haru, who had practised sports and in particular had been in the gym for some time, was aware of things the old Haru could never have known.

Although he was certainly not an instructor, he remembered his usual training, and if the previous Haru had focused on agility and strength, Haru aimed to improve the body in its entirety. There were exercises that couldn't be done for lack of equipment needed, but Haru certainly wouldn't have given up just for the lack of 'comfort', the old Haru had managed to go on with much less, after all.

'I'd say we'd better start with the previous Haru's run. Even though this body is in perfect health, that doesn't mean it has the same physical abilities I had before I went to the hospital. I need to figure out how much there is to recover.'

He certainly didn't have an impressive physique or comparable in any way to a professional body-builder, but before he ended up in hospital, his body had definitely shown results from his workouts, pronouncing more of his body muscles, but this feeling in this body was now completely absent, but on the contrary, he felt that the upper part of his body would have required much more challenging challenges than simple push-ups to improve. The previous Haru couldn't know, but changing daily exercises was very important. Doing the same exercise for years had soon brought his body to a state where to succeed in being really a challenge to his body, Haru would have to perform an intense number of push-ups, that in itself didn't give any benefit just to give a little exceeded what was his limit without stopping or at intervals of a few minutes.

'I understand the hard work and I can't help but find it commendable, but I'll never understand how the previous Haru couldn't see such a basic thing.'

He couldn't understand even observing in his memories how the previous Haru was doing, it was simply more comfortable alternating a completely different type of exercises to accustom the body to more challenging challenges than a simple push-up, but Haru knew to speak was only the part of himself that had comfortably lived on earth, he could in no way judge the 'stupidity' of the previous Haru, also because if he had found himself without that information, he would probably have done the same.

After a warm-up run, Haru didn't hesitate to start with some more complex exercises to further stimulate the legs, and after gathering enough information for the day, he noticed that he had actually managed to do the whole 'routine' for today much faster than normal just because the previous Haru wasted all his time in a training that produced results, but very poor ones. The sun was still high enough in the sky, which meant it wasn't even sunset yet.

For a second he thought he would continue his training, but instead he chose to go home. For years now, the previous Haru had established the small forest located about 100 feet from his home as a training place, just for the absence of monsters due to the adventurers' help, this was also the ideal place for him, so he chose to keep the training routine in this place.

He came home for a reason. He had essentially left his sword at home, not expecting to have time to train with it as well. Although the body of the previous Haru was a bit missing in the legs, Haru didn't think it would take too long to reach the level to which he was accustomed. The thing that most intrigued him was how the falna would affect his body, he couldn't imagine one day being able to reach a speed equal to that of sound, or even beyond that, but he chose to leave these thoughts behind since he already had the sword in his hands, and during training he used to focus fully on it.

The first swing.

Haru had an almost imperceptible feeling of familiarity.

The second swing.

Haru could almost feel the feeling taking shape, yet it was still completely indefinable.

The third swing.

Haru unintentionally associated the movement with what the previous Haru used to do, but that was wrong, the experiences were something to remember and overcome, not something he should have counted on.

The fifth, sixth, seventh swing.

Haru was slowly learning how much force must be used to produce the movement, the feeling was slightly more vivid.

The twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth swing.

He could almost feel the sword cut off the air, the movement had become slightly more natural than before, but he was and would remain resilient for a long time only on what was the strength to use to make a perfect cut. He still had a long, long way to go, but the training of the previous Haru had made him understand that continuing to see in the movement a simple cut was wrong, it was not the way to continue towards the path of the sword, or at least that was what he believed. Surely in this world where skills could be developed and improved would help Haru to understand what the sword was, although for now all he had managed to do was get to understand a simple directional cut was not enough.
