On the 19th floor of the dungeon, which belongs to the mid-level region, adventurers need to have a certain level of strength or teamwork to enter. Compared to the upper floors from the 1st to the 17th, the difficulty here significantly increases.
The previous floors are like beginner areas between the newbie village and the main city, but once you pass the 18th floor, it's akin to entering areas beyond the main city, where mid-level monsters begin to appear.
Moreover, according to in-game settings, this is also the starting point for player-kill zones.
Although you can indeed PK anywhere in Orario, compared to other PK areas, this place is no small affair. In Orario, at most, adventurers would fight at Level 3, but those at Level 4 are usually the main forces of a Familia and don't casually go out looking for fights.
However, beyond the 18th floor, no one resides here permanently. Someone can be murdered here at any time!
After passing through the 18th floor and arriving on the 19th, the first thing Altair did was pull out the urn containing the ashes of the five people who had previously caused trouble at the church. He found a secluded corner and scattered the ashes evenly on the ground.
'I, Altair, always keep my word. I said I'd scatter your ashes, so here we go!'
After scattering the ashes, Altair casually threw the urn on the ground. Whether or not the dungeon's cleaning staff would come to fine him for littering was anyone's guess.
[Now then, let's see what kind of monsters the 19th floor has to offer.]
With his left hand holding up the new dialogue board, Altair began his exploration of the 19th floor.
Since his left hand was occupied with the dialogue board, Altair decided to focus on close combat today. It was the perfect opportunity to test the board's durability in battle.
'Today, I, Altair, will be a melee player!'
[Come on, show me the enemies of the mid-levels!]
With the dialogue board in one hand and a lightsaber in the other, Altair marched deeper into the dungeon. He was alone today, and he was determined to go on a killing spree!
However, reality didn't match his expectations.
Ten minutes later, staring at the monsters blocking his path, Altair's expression had become stiff.
[You've got to be kidding me (⊙.⊙)!]
With the dialogue board in his left hand and the lightsaber in his right, Altair was supposed to be cutting down monsters and demons alike, sweeping through the 19th floor effortlessly. Yet, upon entering, he was stopped by the first wave of monsters.
It wasn't that these monsters were especially strong... it was because all of them were goat-headed monsters!
Just like the demons described in the Bible, the monsters in front of Altair had goat heads and hooves, along with human-like hands. They were essentially upright goat-headed beings, and these goat-headed monsters were the primary monsters on the 19th floor.
These seemingly not-so-strong goat-headed monsters had become an impenetrable wall blocking Altair's way deeper into the dungeon.
Why? Because he couldn't kill them!
The dialogue board easily blocked their attacks, and he could even use the indestructible board as a weapon to hit them. But he couldn't kill them. Every time he knocked them down, they would get back up. And when facing his lightsaber, they suddenly became incredibly agile... so much so that not a single slash connected.
Even though Altair's body, thanks to his newly acquired skill, had become extremely agile and quick, he still couldn't hit them. It was as if they were cheating!
At first, Altair thought this was just the natural strength of mid-level monsters and blamed himself for underestimating them. He didn't expect the mid-level monsters to be this powerful.
But after effortlessly killing a different type of monster that had appeared from the side, Altair understood.
[Are these things even considered goats (╯°Д°)╯︵┻━┻?!]
They had goat heads and hooves, so yes, they were somewhat related to goats. But still, this was too much!
Altair was very familiar with his abilities, and the second skill he had acquired, Wolf Wisdom was powerful but had one flaw. The skill's description clearly stated that it could not defeat sheep.
[So, do these goat-headed monsters count as sheep?!]
[Oh right, I forgot, the sheep in the cartoon series are also goat-headed beings.]
Fine, these goat-headed monsters were indeed considered sheep, and they just happened to be the kind that Grey Wolf couldn't defeat.
[This setting is ridiculous. It's bad enough I couldn't beat the sheep from the cartoon series, but now I can't even defeat these sheep here? Grey Wolf is completely useless!]
With his left hand holding the dialogue board, Altair expressed his inner thoughts through the words on it, while his right hand swung the lightsaber to fend off the approaching goat-headed monsters.
These goat-headed monsters, who should have been slow and clumsy, suddenly became nimble. They all jumped backward, dodging the sweeping attack of the lightsaber.
Taking advantage of the moment, Altair swung the dialogue board in his left hand, smacking all of the goat-headed monsters away.
[Alright, they can dodge the lightsaber because it's lethal to them, but the dialogue board isn't, so it doesn't have much of an impact. I can't kill them, but I can still hit them. This makes sense.]
But Altair didn't want this reasonable setup.
Knowing he couldn't harm these goat-headed monsters with his lightsaber, Altair sheathed the blade and pulled out an old-fashioned high-explosive grenade from his spatial pouch. Without hesitation, he tossed it at the goat-headed monsters.
'Not playing with you anymore, bye!'
He didn't expect the grenade to kill them but only to stall them because Altair had no interest in wasting time with this herd of goats.
As soon as he threw the grenade, Altair activated his leg transformation, turning his legs into wheels and speeding off. Behind him, the grenade exploded among the goat-headed monsters. The blast sent them flying, but even in midair, they twisted and contorted their bodies in bizarre ways to dodge the shrapnel. What should have been a one-second float in the air was stretched out to three seconds before they finally landed.
[Incredible!]
Altair, still running, glanced back at them, raising his dialogue board to express his admiration, then turned and bolted.
[Fine, go ahead and show off. Next time, I'll bring a team to cut you down!]
As he ran, Altair held up the dialogue board toward the direction behind him, the message glowing brightly.
[If I can't beat you, I'll just bring reinforcements!]
[I'll be back!]
