Chapter 27 Surprise

Production was forced to stop because of the video leak.

Taking a break in the hotel, Yan Wen answered Jiang Sui-an's call.

His manner was simple and direct and his voice was as smooth as an aged wine. 「I miss you, what are you doing?」

「Reading my script in my hotel room. Xia went to order dinner.」 Yan Wan replied softly. 「Oh yes, thank you for sending the bento boxes, they were delicious. You went to such expense for me.」

Jiang Sui-an put his bag down on the carpet at the room door. He arched an eyebrow. 「I don't mind if it's for you.」

「Thank you, darling.」 Yan Wen blushed as she said it. Thank goodness Jiang Sui-an was not there to witness it.

「That's more like it. Did you miss me?」 His voice was full of desire as if he was ready to devour her.

「Of course. But I've got two scenes to film the day after tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll be home with you.」 Yan Wen plucked at the cover of the script. She asked timidly, 「Will you be unhappy if my work gets hectic in the future?」

A man like Jiang Sui-an with a reputation to uphold would surely prefer a gentle woman who would cater to his every need. Once Yan Wen was back into the swing of things, it was not possible to have that kind of spare time.

「No.」

「Really?」 His answer filled Yan Wen's heart with warmth. Jiang Sui-an would not lie to her.

「Uh huh because no matter where you are, if I want to see you, I'll come find you.」

As he said that, he gave a signal to Xia, who smiled and swiped her key card. The door opened and Jiang Sui-an strode in, wrapping himself around the woman who made him worry.

「Why are—」 Yan Wen's eyes grew wide and she tried to cover her face. 「I just removed my make-up and I didn't sleep well last night. My dark circles are terrible!」

She did not want Jiang Sui-an to see her imperfections.

He huffed a laugh into her ear. Holding her wrist gently, he kissed the crook of her neck.

「What haven't I seen before?」

In the doorway, Xia blushed at that and closed the door with a snicker. She had been worried that Yan Wen would have trouble sleeping because the production had stopped but with Jiang Sui-an here to visit, she did not need to worry.

「Why are you here? Aren't you busy at the office?」 Yan Wen tilted her head to the side, acting cute.

「Very.」 Jiang Sui-an cupped her cheek meaningfully. 「But you are more important.」

He had postponed two meetings and brought along the documents that needed his attention. All because he wanted to spend the night with her. It did not matter what they did as long as he could hold her.

「I'm touched.」

Yan Wen was a sensitive soul. Even though they had only begun to get to know each other, she believed in his sincerity and that they would have a perfect ending.

「Thank you for making your way here. Go take a shower/ We'll have dinner together.」 Yan Wen laid her hand on his shoulder, smiling warmly.

「That's it?」 Jiang Sui-an frowned, pretending to be upset. 「I made the trip all the way here, that's all I get?」

「Tonight I—」She had not finished before she felt herself lifted by the waist, her legs in the air, leaving her to grab at Jiang Sui-an.

「I want it... Now.」 Without waiting for her reply, Jiang Sui-an carried her into the bathroom and gave her a kiss she could not resist.

The sudden hug and heated kiss were slowly turning her on. She leaned on his chest and let him lead her. But it was just a shower and there was no next step.

「Sui-an... I...」 Yan Wen was barely coherent.

Jiang Sui-an did not remove his hand from her body and instead, moved dangerously close to her, asking her in a charming voice, 「You?」

Yan Wen closed ger eyes and shivered in anticipation.

Jiang Sui-an understood what she was unable to say and finished her shower with the utmost care before letting go of her.

Yan Wen slowly opened her eyes and pressed herself against his chest.

At the same time, Yan Wen and Jiang Sui-an were enjoying dinner together, elsewhere in the hotel, Xia answered a phone call from Bai Zhexuan.

「What?」 Xia answered impatiently. If Yan Wen was not still signed with Grand Entertainment, she would add this number on her blacklist.

「You...」 Bai Zhexuan reined in his anger. 「Is Yan Wen still in the production?」

「Of course, Yan Wen is actually hardworking. Unlike some other stars who don't act well and just entertain others, relying on their looks to get anywhere. Oh, maybe not just their looks.」

「I don't have time to listen to your veiled accusations. Get Yan Wen on the line.」

Xia pursed her lips. She wanted to tell him about Jiang Sui-an but Yan Wen was not ready to disclose the information. So she cleared her throat and replied perfunctorily, 「Yan Wen is changing. We'll be meeting the director to discuss the show so she has no time to speak with President Bai tonight」

「Trying to pull a fast one over Yan Wen about the video? I won't let you spoil her date!」

His phone screen constantly lit up with messages from Jiang Lingyun but Bai Zhexuan did not open a single one.

Pulling on his suit jacket, he headed straight to the nightclubs. He needed to relax and be able to breathe.

Unlike Bai Zhexuan's anxiety, Yan Wen had spent a wonderful night. She lay comfortably on the sofa and sighed. 「This place is great. I can hold your hand, hug you...」

Without worrying about the paparazzi or the tabloids.

「We can do this when we go back.」 Jiang Sui-an held her tight in his arms. He wanted Yan Wen to hear his heart beating for her. In a seductive voice, he said, 「Once you say the word, I'll make the announcement about our marriage.」

She was not as easy to affect as before but this man was spoiling her like a princess.

「If I don't spoil you, who can I spoil?」

Jiang Sui-an held her hands and said earnestly, 「I would prefer to announce our status. But I also know that as long as we treasure each other, we will be able to walk down the path of happiness together.」

Yan Wen looked up at him. 「I didn't think a high-status man like you would approach marriage like that. I thought you would...」

「I would?」 Eyes half-closed, Jiang Sui-an kissed Yan Wen again. 「I'm yours. Never doubt that.」

Yan Wen closed her eyes in happiness. It was enough with him by her side.
