CHAPTER 55

Y/N'S POV

After spending the whole day with my mom, Mr. Duncan and Brooke, it was finally time to get ready to go to the dance. Brooke dressed up to the nines while I preferred to go pretty simple, basically because what was waiting for us was another kind of party. I just hoped that the situation with the hunters and the change of location for the Raven had worked, because otherwise, I would have no choice but to face my mother and her pet, the hyde again.

- Brooke: I'm on edge - she tried to shake my hand but I pushed her away - Y/N?

-Y/N: I don't like excessive physical contact, you know that - I faked a smile - Don't take it the wrong way.

-Brooke: - she nodded - I'll change your way of thinking, don't worry - she smiled - When you've been with me for a couple of weeks, I assure you that you won't want to spend a second without getting your hands on me.

-Y/N: - a sarcastic laugh escaped me - Sorry, I just find it difficult... In seventeen years of life, I have never softened. I don't think I would do it for a girl - I lied because the truth was that I had already learned to love and let myself be loved, Enid had taught me.

We went to the fake Raven in Nevermore and I convinced my mother to enter the premises under the pretext that the director wanted to meet her in person. Mr. Duncan was not going to be the one excluded, so he also came with us to the interior. Once there, everything was in the dark and I told them that it was a maintenance problem. I excused myself by saying that I would go in search of the concierge, but to my bad luck, Brooke decided to accompany me.

Just as I finished talking, shots started to be heard coming from the gym, the place where we had left our parents. I assumed that the hunters would have already made their appearance and that matter of time that the light returned, I had to flee from there without being seen. But there was a problem... Brooke.

- Brooke: What's going on? !! - she practically jumped into my arms - Y/N... Was that a few shots? !! - the girl was trembling in my arms - I think we should go to our parents, the sound was coming from the gym...

-Y/N: Shhh, the hunters will hear us and we will be in danger - I tried to calm her down - Don't scream, please.

- Brooke: The only one who is in danger is you, I am a simple human who has been kidnapped by the biggest bitch in history - she glared at me - Help! - she continued to scream.

- Brooke: My father is in danger because of you! - she continued shouting - I will not stop until you are captured. Here! She's here!

I didn't want to resort to brute force but there was no other way, I took advantage of the fact that I did have night vision and covered her mouth with my hand while I immobilized her from behind. I dragged her through the corridors until I reached the bathrooms, just in time to avoid being seen by the lights of the Hunters' lanterns. I sighed when I heard them walking away from us, and then I released Brooke.

- Brooke: - she slapped me - Y/N! You're dead, I'm going to get out and I'm going to scream for them to come get you.

-Y/N: Please don't do it... You are not like that - I said pleading - What I have done is horrible, but understand me. You betrayed me too and took the side of the bad guys, I'm just doing the right thing.

-Brooke: - she stared at me for a few moments while she cried silently - My father, he's the only thing I have. If something happens to him and they end his life, I will make sure that you will never be happy... Do you understand me? If you ruin my life, I'll be fucking and bothering with you for the rest of yours - she threatened me.

-Y/N: Are you threatening me to save your father? - I frowned - Why would I do that? Your father attacked my cousin and my friends - I reminded her.

-Brooke: You've used me to trap him in this mousetrap, you know well that I won't stand the guilt - she swallowed thickly - Because all this is my fault for falling in love and getting my hopes up with the person I shouldn't.

I had sent the plan to hell, yes. The idea was to set the trap for them and then run away in the direction of the forest clearing where I would meet up with Enid and the others and enjoy the dance. But damn the conscience I had developed, I couldn't help but feel guilty for taking advantage of Brooke and agreed to risk my life for her father's. I slipped through the corridors until I reached the hallway and hid when I saw the hunters surrounding Mr. Duncan and my mother.

The battle was being hard, they had weapons specifically designed to finish off each and every one of us. I observed the place in detail and decided to go outside because I had come up with a plan that if it worked, would solve all our problems. On my way out to the Nevermore garden, I bumped into Mr. Wilson and Wednesday in her role as "normie".

- Wednesday: What are you doing here? You should be running through the woods by now. Do you know what will happen if you are found out?

-Y/N: I have to save Brooke's father - I said looking my cousin in the eyes.

- Wednesday: Have you lost your mind? !! Why would you do that? !! That hyde tried to kill me!

-Y/N: Because I haven't done things right either... Brooke and Mr. Duncan will go far away and we will never hear from them again, she has promised me - I said seriously - Besides, I have had an idea to face the numerical disadvantage.

- Wilson: What's the plan? - said the old man rolling up his sleeves - I will do anything to make up for my mistake.

-Y/N: Let's set the gym on fire - I pointed to the dumpster - if we block the exits, we can finish off my mom and the Hunters of one. I just have to get Brooke and her dad out in time.

- Wednesday: Are you telling me that you're going to get in that mousetrap, where they can kill you easily, and take the Duncans out while Wilson and I set fire to the academy gym?

-Y/N: - I nodded and smirked - We have to take a chance, we hadn't completed the possibility that the hunters would still be here once the Raven finished - I shrugged - If we can finish them now, I don't see why we should wait.

-Wilson: - He started pushing a dumpster towards the gym door - Stop gossiping! Leave that for recess time - he scolded us - Let's do it!
