CHAPTER 26

Y/N'S POV

The next morning I woke up around ten in the morning, quite late considering that I usually woke up at half past six. I yawned and turned my head to the side to meet Enid's sleeping face. How calm she looked, her breathing was totally relaxed and she was urging me to take advantage of the situation. Obviously I didn't and I got out of bed to stretch out and get ready to start the day.

I quickly washed up in Enid's bathroom and when I got out I walked to my cousin's bed, it was empty. I assumed that he would have arrived after we fell asleep and that she had woken up before me, however something didn't quite add up for me. I sniffed her sheets and was surprised to notice the trace so faint, as if it had been more than twenty-four hours since she had been there. Maybe she would have spent the night out? If that was the case... Where would she be at that moment?

-Enid: Mhmm - Enid stretched - What are you doing, Kit? - she smiled and stretched out his arms in my direction - Do we say good morning properly?

-Y/N: I don't think it's a good time for cuddles, Wenny hasn't spent the night here - I said worried - Where can she be?

- Enid: How do you know she hasn't slept here? - she got out of bed and came over to me.

-Y/N: The trace on her bed... It doesn't seem recent - I scratched the back of my head - what do I know, maybe they are my imaginations.

-Enid: No, they are not, - she said after sniffing - Believe me, the sense of smell of lycanthropes is very sharp and I do not feel the recent trace. Wedns hasn't come tonight - she crossed his arms - We can ask Yoko, after all they went on a double date - she walked to the bathroom - I'm going to get ready, okay? Will I meet you in your room?

I nodded and then headed towards my room. I entered with my eyes covered, afraid of seeing something indecent, but I was surprised to discover that I was completely alone. Where was Yoko? I changed my clothes quickly and started checking my phone in case I had unread messages or a missed call. But no, there was nothing. I was starting to get nervous because something was giving me a bad feeling... I waited for Enid to arrive who was also surprised not to find the vampire.

-Enid: Yoko hasn't spent the night here either - she looked at me seriously - Maybe she's in Divine's room?

- Y/N: You think? - I said not very convinced - I have the feeling that they have not returned to Nevermore all night. Look, Yoko's pajamas are here, if she went to sleep with Divina she should have taken them. Right?

-Enid: It doesn't have to - ladina smiled - Sometimes pyjamas are unnecessary.

I bit my cheek from the inside of my mouth to suppress the smile that that comment had provoked in me. Just a few seconds ago I felt like I was going to climb the walls because of the worry I had on me, but the wolf always managed to calm me down. I sighed deeply before deciding what to do.

-Y/N: I know it's Sunday and maybe you have better plans to make, but... Would you mind coming with me to Jericho and look for them? - I tried to keep a neutral expression - I have a feeling that something is not right.

-Enid: You're worried, I understand - she took my hands - But don't worry, we'll go to the village and find them. Surely they did whatever silly thing that did not allow them to return.

-Y/N: I hope that's the case and you're right - I sighed.

We had two sandwiches from the cafeteria before taking the bus to Jericho, as I could not contact "Lurch" because apparently he was the driver of Wenny and the others the night before and answered none of my calls. On the bus I was biting my nails from nerves while Enid was stroking my arm trying to calm me down. How could I calm down with my cousin lost? !! What if something had happened to her? Obviously it was about Wednesday Addams, I was aware she could take care of herself. But even so, the guardian nature had taken over me.

We asked in several establishments about them and none of them could tell us anything, Enid tried to track them down but there was no recent trail to follow. We ended up sitting near the fountain thinking about what could have happened to them. It's just that... How had they been defeated? They were not normal humans, the reason had to have been weighty.

-Y/N: I have failed - I said leaning my elbows on my knees and bringing my hands to my head - I had to take care of her, and I have not.

-Enid: It's my fault too - she sighed - I should have assumed we weren't safe when I saw her with Tyler. Y/N, I'm really sorry about what happened but we can't stay here still. We should pass some of it to the sheriff and have him organize a search or something.

-Y/N: - I looked at her and nodded - Could you take care of contacting the police force? I want to keep looking around, if I don't find anything, no indication... I think I will have to contact my family and... Oh my God, they're going to kill me - I pressed my lips together before standing up - I have to find Wednesday as soon as possible.

-Enid: As I said once to Wedns, I'm not really in favor of separating us... But I'll do as you say and come back as soon as possible. All right? - she said seriously.

-Y/N: Thank you, Enid - I smiled slightly before receiving a kiss from her on the cheek - The fountain will be our meeting point. By noon, we'll both have to be here.

- Enid: Understood! - she shouted as she ran away.

I headed to the outskirts of Jericho where I transformed into my animal form so I could move more nimbly. I didn't catch any smell related to Wednesday, neither her scent nor the fabric softener on her clothes. I also couldn't catch any smell of Xavier, Yoko or Divine, it was as if they had disappeared from the face of the Earth. I walked through every damn corner of the forest for hours until I caught the smell of Thing's hand cream.

It was a faint smell so I hurried to follow it. At that moment I wish I had Enid's abilities to capture smells with more power and be able to run faster through the forest. But since I couldn't change what it was, I had to settle for my ability and ran tirelessly until I reached a kind of clearing where I found the boys tied to some poles. Around them there was a circle of several chemicals together that caused a putrid smell, an odor that had made it impossible for me to trace them.

-Y/N: - I transformed back to my human form and ran towards them - Wednesday! - I screamed when I saw her tied up with several wounds - Are you okay?! Can you hear me? !!

- Wednesday: Behind... - she said with difficulty.

-Y/N: I will untie you - I approached her resolutely.

- Wednesday: Asshole... - she complained about the pain - Told you to look behind you - she said in a thread of voice.
