My name is Kevin, and first and foremost, I'm not the bad guy

*BOOM!!*

An explosion erupted from behind him as he walked with three duffel bags on his person, one on both hands and the other strapped to his back. Police Sirens blared as the police cars raced to the Chicago city bank.

Ignore the bank exploding right behind me. No one was inside, and I got all the money I needed, and besides hurting cooperations, it isn't the same as hurting people

A young man no older than seventeen walked leisurely, as if he hadn't just robbed a bank. He was tall, around 180cm in height and had three duffel bags full of money, he had short black hair that desperately needed to be cut, he had black eyes and wore black jeans with a black t-shirt, his skin was a light skin black.

What can I say, I like the colour black, and no, I'm not a goth.

*screech*

The police cars arrived at the scene and quickly got out of their cars and pulled out their guns, and aimed at the young man.

"Stop right there!! put the bags down and your hands up!!"

One of the officers shouted, and the young man complied with his orders. He placed the bags down. However, he didn't lift his hands up

I already said I'm not the bad guy, so I'm not going to hurt these cops after all, they don't know who the true bad people are. They're only doing their jobs.

"This is above your paygrade pigs, so leave before I'm forced to have to actually hurt ya"

The young man informed as his body began to change and took a more humanoid metallic form, almost as if he turned into metal.

It's fucked up enough that I got reincarnated in this type of fucked up universe but being literally homeless at seventeen is worse.

Seeing the young man use superpowers, the police quickly became alert and they realised that this was not their job since it involved someone with Super powers, so now their job was to simply form a perimeter and keep the 'villain' from getting away and they did exactly that as they began to surround the kid.

"they always want to do things the hard way don't they"

He whispered to himself as crouched to the floor and touched the earth and had a layer of hard rock like skin cover his iron body. absorbing two elements at once always was the better option as it meant double the durability and double the super strength.

And with superstrength I can just bulldoze my way through, they'll get out of the way if they know what's good for them

Picking back up the bags he placed them over his shoulders before he began to charge, the cops began shooting their guns at him however they barely tickled.

As he ran in a straight line planning to crush any car in his way, the cop cars started to back away and opened up a path, as stated before their job was to keep him there as long as possible however that didn't mean putting themselves in danger.

"Stop right there and drop the money asshole!!"

*BOOM!*

A projectIle was thrown in his face and exploded, and the force of the explosion sent him flying back and slamming into one of the police cars that had surrounded him.

the police quickly holstered their guns before backing away and running for cover, A man

wearing a bright orange and yellow suit with goggles had appeared.

His hand glowed a bright yellow energy, energising the objects in his hands which would then explode if they collided with a physical object, the man was a superhero and his name was Rexplode.

"yall gotta always have to mess up my pay day, like come on man"

Kevin got off the hood of the police car and dusted himself off, he took no damage from that attack, nothing but a slight crack on his stone skin.

That attack probably destroyed things like stone easily however thanks to his power the normal durability of an object is enhanced when he absorbs it.

"you robbed a bank bozo, last time I checked that's not a payday and it's illegal"

"yeah but that bank is owned by a cooperation and corporations are Evil, robbing Evil entities is not wrong"

He answered and shrugged his shoulders, as if robbing a back was an inconsequential thing.

"I'm not here to argue morality with you, you broke the law and now I'm going to break your face!"

Rexplode states as he puts his hands up readying himself for a fight.

"you can't handle this Rexplode, let me leave and I don't gotta break your nose"

Of course it's useless telling him that. After all he's a hero. He can't let even a bank robber get away, otherwise the trust the public has on him would crumble.

"how wonderful a C list villain is threatening me, I can't let that slide, you know"

Rex jumped into action, lunging toward his opponent and threw energised pennies that exploded upon impact before energising his own hands, ready to fight hand to hand.

Kevin simply stood his ground and let the pennies explode on his face, however this time he did get pushed back a few feet and his vision was covered by smoke which allowed Rex to deliver a powerful punch to his face.

*WHAM!*

The punch forced him to stagger back a few feet and his rock hard skin crumbled off his face revealing the metal hidden underneath.

Rex threw another punch further pushing him back, he delivered a punch to the stomach forcing Kevin to bend forward before punching him in the face and simultaneously releasing the energy on his hand resulting in an explosive punch that sent Kevin flying through the air and crashing on to the wall of the bank he just robbed.

"C list villains should know their place and surrender when a hero with A tier status shows up, maybe you'll learn that in prison"

Rexplode proudly informed as he arrived before Kevin who was only just beginning to stand up. In order to keep his foe down Rex went in for another punch however Kevin grabbed it.

His skin turned back to normal and his hands glowed bright yellow. Rex's eyes widened from behind his goggles as he realised what happened

"You can't hang with me, little bro!"

With those words, a vicious punch was thrown sending Rex hurtling through the air and crashing through the windshield of a police car and exiting out its back window before he rolled on the floor and eventually he stopped.

"you ain't built like that, for real"

Kevin said to no one in particular as he walked towards his bags grabbed them, slung them over his shoulders and began to walk away

It's a bummer I can't absorb more than two things at once, plus the stronger the power the more strain it puts on my body and there's the risk of going literally insane. This is a major nerf and I don't like it.

He thought to himself as he walked away and the police were unable to do anything and simply watched, Rexplode was knocked out and now the villain was getting away.

"Put the bags down and nobody gets hurt"

This time a female voice spoke which caused Kevin to turn his head towards her and saw the biggest reason why he didn't like the nerf he had on his powers, Atom Eve.

She floated down gently, wearing her iconic pink suit with her ginger hair flowing freely in the wind. She had a slender and petite frame that he quite liked.

"I just laid your boyfriend out flat in one punch, you can't deal with this Eve"

He said her name as if he was talking to a friend, her powers were powerful perhaps more so than his own.

He could absorb energy and matter(DNA included) and alter his body whatever way when it has absorbed matter. He can store and discharge or infuse the energy he absorbed to other things

However, as stated, the downside to his ability was that he could not absorb too many things at once, as that puts a strain on his body and absorbing too much matter and energy could drive him nuts so he has to moderate himself

Eve is able to manipulate matter in whatever way she sees fit, it didn't matter if it was biological matter or inorganic matter she could do whatever she wanted, although she had mental blocks keeping her from manipulating organic matter

"He's not my boyfriend but if you want to try me go ahead, but you know you don't have to live like this right?"

She spoke, her tone familiar and gentle and he couldn't help but roll his eyes at her words.

I suppose she came out with better morals than me plus I'm a reincarnator who's watched plenty of superhero stuff before so I'm kind of over that whole superheroes are cool phase.

It was obvious to any spectator that the two knew each other somehow.

The reason why he hates the nerf on him is because while he probably can absorb her power, he won't have the same mental blocks as her and will get the full scope of her abilities.

That's good but due to the powerful nature of the power he wouldn't be able to absorb anything else without losing the power and he would want that.

"sorry but I'm not becoming a hero like you, I'm not nearly as kindhearted and besides, I kind of like doing whatever the fuck I want"

He said, being a criminal was certainly unsustainable and probably more trouble than it's worth but being a hero meant following the laws made by the very government that experimented on children to make them super weapons.

Miss me with that bullshit.

"Then you leave me no choice"

She took a fighting stance and Kevin only sighed before he threw the bags at her feet.

"Tell you what, you take the bags and let me get away. How about that?"

He asked, trying to negotiate, he'd rather not have to harm her considering that they're both lab grown babies but if she forces his hand he might have to.

"I can't let you just walk away just like that, plus you still have millions worth of diamonds in your back pocket."

She said with a confident smile on her face.

Kevin clicked his tongue at her words, the three bags of money were just the distraction he didn't even plan on leaving with them, he supposed she could sense the diamonds because of her power or something to that effect.

"I'm being a gentleman by wanting to not hit you, accept my kindness and leave me be."

He stated as he used his hands to shoo away Atom Eve like a pest.

"Sexist much? Its 2021, we left bullshit like that in the 90s "

She quirked her brows as she folded her arms and looked at him questioningly, she seemed to quickly forget that she was ready to fight mere seconds ago.

"How is It sexist to prefer not to harm someone? You're not gonna stand there and tell me you actually like being punched in the face"

He shrugged his shoulders and shook his head and said.

"But hey if you're into that type of kink, I won't shame"

"what no!! What do you take me for?!! and to answer your question–"

Eve became flustered as she tried to explain herself, as she was doing so her words were cut off.

"JESUS CHRIST EVE! ARE YOU GOING TO FIGHT THIS GUY OR NOT!"

Rexplode suddenly shouted as he leaned against the police car to support himself, he was still disoriented from the pinch earlier.

"Rex you were awake this whole time?!"

Eve quickly turned her head toward Rex and asked in a bit of surprise.

"no I wasn't, but your chit chat with the villain was long enough for me to wake up. Why the hell are you debating him about sexism?!"

*BOOM!!*

Before Eve could respond to Rex, Kevin used the energy he absorbed from Rex and launched himself through the air and successfully got away, although he left the bags of money.

"oh great now he got away! Great job"

"He only got away because you distracted me, Rex!"

"He wouldn't have gotten away if you fucking did your job, you know Robot is going to be on our asses for this right? I don't want to hear his emotionless voice telling me I messed up."

The two then began to argue back and forth about who's fault it truly was that the villain got away.
