Chapter 67: An Unexpected Discovery

After some time, Senju successfully installed the portal. He sought out Ishii to inform her, ensuring she wouldn't worry if she couldn't find him later.

Following the sound of machinery, Senju discovered Ishii outside, attempting to start up other machines in the area where snacks were made yesterday. The nearby station began operating.

Due to the noise, Senju walked up to her and greeted, "Ishii, what are you doing?"

"Wow! That startled me. It's just Senju." Ishii's body jolted, and she turned around, relieved. "I want to see if I can operate these machines. If successful, I'd like to make a batch of military rations for storage."

"Can these machines still function?"

"They can, for the most part. Some minor issues, but nothing that hinders production. Plus, I found they require minimal labor and can be operated easily by one person."

"That's great. By the way, Ishii, I'm planning an experiment. I might return to the base. If I don't come back soon, I'll be at the base."

"Experiment? I'm curious. I'll observe," Ishii replied, intrigued by Senju's experiment.

"Okay, it's about the experiment on the portal. Based on the results, I'll see if I could close the portal." Then Senju told Ishii the purpose of his experiment, and she became somewhat interested in this experiment.

Upon entering the portal, Senju noticed the surroundings were somewhat different from what he had seen before.

A dark red building stood nearby, seeming to connect to the netherrack above. On one side of the building, there was a flowing lava stream.

Carefully avoiding the lava, Senju used a pickaxe to excavate the building and explore its interior.

After a while, he realized it was a solid structure. He decided to dig upward and collected a pile of nether bricks.

Entering the building from below, Senju inspected it and found a passageway leading to the front—a Nether Fortress.

Wary of getting lost, Senju placed torches along the roadside as he advanced in the Nether. Initially searching for nether warts, he unintentionally walked forward and noticed a glow on stairs ahead.

Cautiously, Senju prepared his gun and approached. Upon closer inspection, he found a monster spawner, yet there were no mobs(Blaze) in the vicinity.

Examining the monster spawner, Senju felt a spark of excitement.

The idea of creating animals thrilled him, but he pondered over which type to introduce.

Unsure if certain animals could survive in this environment, Senju stared at the four mob (animal) eggs in his inventory, deep in thought about the best choice for the Nether's conditions.

Senju reflected that he had been overly cautious when entering the treasure house.

The only monster(animal) eggs he found were for cows, horses, sheep, and chickens.

Horses were dismissed first, leaving him to decide between cows, sheep, and chickens.

After weighing the options, he concluded that cows were the most practical choice.

Milk's ability to cure abnormal conditions was crucial for travel, while wool and eggs were of lesser importance.

With his decision made, Senju introduced the cow into the monster spawner. A rotating calf emerged, followed by several square-shaped cows appearing in the air nearby.

Anticipating the need for beef and leather, Senju took out an enchanted bow. Before collecting resources, he decided to secure the surrounding area to prevent the cows from escaping.

Observing the calm cows in this peculiar environment, Senju found their lack of reaction strange.

It seemed off, if someone with ill intentions lurked nearby. Why weren't the cows responding?

After contemplating, he decided to start by collecting some milk. As he approached the cows with an iron bucket in hand, words reminiscent of the "Interface" appeared, making Senju feel like he was in a the game where milk could instantly be obtained.

After tasting it, Senju realized that the content was just ordinary pure milk.

While he didn't know the original taste of milk in the game, it matched the flavor of commercially bought pure milk.

Senju internally complained why it wasn't flavored like yogurt; it might taste better that way.

He collected milk into a bucket that was initially filled with water, intending to gift it to Ishii.

He also captured a few cows for her. Unsure of what they ate, considering their appearance, it seemed like they might not even need to breath air.

(T/L: With cows like that in real life, we could just build like a building with these in no? No maintenance, just feed them wheat then let natures(Minecraft?) go on it's course...)

After collecting several buckets of milk, the cows here became very crowded, and cows kept popping out of the monster spawner.

Senju stood next to it and started blasting(shooting/aiming).

The enchantment makes the arrow glow with fire. After it hits the cow, it disappears after running for a few times, leaving only a few pieces of cooked beef, leather and experience balls on the ground.

(T/L: See? Now you have to commit geno- *Cough* I mean slay these pitiful cows so that you won't have to worry about a thing!)

(T/L: Also considering the time ratio of it, like if he steps into the portal, time apperantly stops in the 'overworld'.)

Senju is right next to it and keeps shooting arrows. Infinite enchantment guarantees unlimited arrows

Initially concerned about killing too quickly, Senju soon realized that his pace couldn't match the monster spawner's output.

After a while, he amassed a considerable amount of cooked beef and leather, noting that the cooked beef resembled more of a beef jerky.

After an unknown amount of time, Senju filled the container with beef jerky and decided to stop.

His level had also risen to forty-two. Now, he wanted to lead the cows to the portal to see if they could be lured through.

Returning along the original path, he temporarily blocked a fork in the road with netherrack, leaving only a path leading to the portal.

Senju then took out a wheat plant, prompting a herd of cows to run towards him.

In a comical scene, he turned around and ran in fright before throwing himself into the portal just as the cattle arrived.

After a wave of fluctuations, Senju found Ishii standing beside him. He hadn't been teleported to the base, and Senju breathed a sigh of relief.

It appeared that the teleportation gates were synchronized, and it would have been troublesome if he ended up at the base.

He decided to avoid using the portal casually in the future.

"Huh? Were you there?" Ishii questioned Senju, who had fallen into deep thought, and started speculating, "How did the experiment go?"

"The experiment went well, but the biggest gain is something else," Senju replied, nervously eyeing the portal, hoping for a 'lucky' cow to emerge. After a while, none appeared.

"It seems those cows won't come out. What a pity," Senju expressed a little disappointment.

However, considering there was nothing for the cows to eat in the 'overworld', he decided to let them roam.

While Senju contemplated, Ishii inquired, "Any new discoveries over there?"
