Chapter 11 - Third Phase Clear

The blue faced prisoner came out and Sachiko almost swore.

'Damn it. I should've gone this round.'

Kurapika started fighting with the blue-faced prisoner. The prison showed him his fake spider tattoo. Kurapika got irritated and knocked him out. Kurapika was about to return to his place when Sachiko said, "He's not dead yet."

"I know, but he lost the will to fight." Kurapika replied, "I will not continue to fight someone who already lost."

"You're putting us in disadvantage!" Leorio shouted.

"If this comes to it, then...I will..make a bet." Sachiko said finally. If leaving the bet to Leorio was dangerous, she just had to do it herself. She could definitely think of an interesting bet.

"What are you doing, eyepatch lady?" Killua asked.

"Just going to get us out of this mess, skateboard kiddo." Sachiko said as she walked over to the middle platform.

"Let's make a time bet. We still have 69 hours 45 minutes left. Let's bet with all the time we have!" Sachiko said.

"Who are you to make the decision for us?!" Leorio was mad.

"Relax, I hate the idea of failing. I'm not gonna lose." Sachiko replied.

"Interesting. Tell me more." A prisoner said.

"Well, we have 69 hours left. Let's bet with that until one of us runs out of it. If I lose the first round, we will give 20 hours to you." Sachiko said.

"Well, what are you going to bet on?" A prisoner came to the platform and asked.

"Hm, let's make a condition first. You cannot change your bet once you place it." Sachiko told her.

"Fine. What are we betting on?"

"Simple. We will bet on him." Sachiko said with a grin. "Do you think he'll wake up in three minutes?"

The blue faced prisoner was lying on the floor, he had not been touched or no one had gone near him yet. Sachiko knew there was no way for the female prisoner to know how he was doing. Frankly, Sachiko didn't know it for sure either.

"I guess you will bet on him waking up in three minutes?" The prisoner asked.

"Are you sure you want me to choose first? You can't change your bet later." Sachiko asked.

"Well, then I bet he's waking up in three minutes." The prisoner said. She just had the gut feeling that this eye patch girl would do something crazy to wake him up. She didn't think he was dead so she chose to bet on waking up.

"Then, I say he....is not waking up." Sachiko said with a smile.

"How do we find that out?"

"Simple, I will use this." Sachiko created a sharp dagger with her cursed energy, "If he wakes up and screams in three minutes, you win. If he doesn't, then I win."

"Okay."

Sachiko flashed a sinister grin and put the blade straight into the prisoner's head. The prisoner didn't even make a sound as his breathing stopped.

"Oops, he died. Guess he's not going to wake up after all." Sachiko said as she pulled the blade out.

"You killed him on purpose."

"Well, I didn't say I wasn't going to kill him. I just made a bet on him not going to wake up in three minutes. I also didn't say I wouldn't use my sword to kill, I just said I would use it. You're the one who agreed on the conditions." Sachiko said with a shrug.

"So that's how you want to play?" The prisoner laughed. "Fine, we will bet on the rest 49 hours this time."

"Alright, this time...I will bet on my life." Sachiko said, " Two of you can attack me at once. If I die, you get 49 hours. If I don't, then you lose."

"Is she out of her mind?!" Leorio was shocked that Sachiko would propose this.

Killua eyed at her with interest, he knew that eyepatch lady was something as soon as he met her. There was just something about her.

"Fine then, let's kill this bitch." Two prisoners came to the platform.

"So, that's a bet!" Sachiko grinned as she created a new sword with her cursed energy. She hadn't used her cursed energy except for the sword earlier so she should still have about 4900 units of cursed energy.

'That's more than enough for time manipulation eye ' Sachiko thought.

The two prisoners closed in on her , about to snap her neck. Sachiko pulled the eyepatch up so that her left eye could take a look at them. Time slowed by ten times, giving her enough time to slash their throats.

It took about thirty seconds to her but to everyone else, it was in less than three seconds. The two prisoners who attacked her fell onto the floor with blood gushing out of their necks. In less than a minute, they bled out to death.

"I guess that's my win." Sachiko had already lit the eyepatch back to its place just after using it.

Killua looked at Sachiko and thought, 'Her left eye. She doesn't wear an eyepatch not because she's blind. Whatever is in those eye, she used it to defeat these guys. Everyone might not notice it but...she is crazier than she looks.'

Kurapika also had similiar thoughts. He also thinks she was hiding her real strength in that eye.

"How can that be?" The female prisoner was furious but there was nothing they could do now.

"Huh? Why are we at 2 wins? Shouldn't it be 3?" Leorio asked.

"The prisoner in second round wasn't killed by applicant no. 404. So, this is not counted as a win."

The examimer announced on TV.

"That's really troublesome then." Killua said, "I will go."

There was still a prisoner left but the female prisoner was the only one who was left. She was so scared that she was about to surrender.

"Let's make a death match , old lady." Killua said.

"Alright , I...sur.."

The female prisoner didn't get a chance to finish as Killua walked past her , then there was a pumping heart in his hands.

"Give...give it..back."

Killua put the heart into her hands with an innocent smile.

Gon, Kurapika and Leorio froze at that. What was wrong with Sachiko and Killua?

"God, you're as crazy as I am, skateboard kiddo." Sachiko told Killua.

"I am an assassin , of course, I am crazy. " Killua said as if that's the most obvious thing in the world.

"You have a point." Sachiko hummed. "Let's go. We have 69 hours 20 minutes left."

"Alright. let's go." Killua said.

The whole scene was played on the monitor examiner was watching.

"Applicant no. 406, she sure is interesting. She got the craziness and darkness inside her even if she might or might not realize it."

"Applicant no. 99, as expected of a member from Zoldyck family."

After winning three rounds, the group continued their way to the base. They had a few more obstacles but they were nothing too hard. With 65 hours left, they got to the final obstacle.

"Well, it says this will be the last decision made by majority rules. Are you ready? Choose O or X." Killua read.

5 O

"Please choose a path. There're two options to choose from, the long and difficult path which the entire group take or short and easy path which will be limited to only three of you." The examiner announced from the speakers. "The long and difficult path will take minimum of 45 hours while short and easy path will take you to the final destination in three minutes."

"Long and difficult road obviously." Gon said. "We have time to complete that."

"Yeah." Kurapika and Killua agreed.

"But, the short and easy road will only take three minutes." Sachiko sighed. "Although leaving two of you is not ideal."

"Hmm...I have an idea!" Sachiko said. "Let's choose the long and difficult path."

"Finally." Leorio said, tired of her antics.

"But everyone, get a weapon each. We will destroy the wall!" Sachiko announced.

"Huh?"

The four blinked in confusion.

After a moment, Kurapika said, "I see you want to break the wall and enter short and easy path from there."

"Bingo!" Sachiko gave him a thumbs up. "Everyone , give a round of applause for Kurapika!"

"Can we just get the weapons and go already?" Kurapika asked.

"Alright, grab them. Let's go!"

After choosing long and difficult path, everyone except Sachiko started destroying the wall between the two paths. Seeing Sachiko was not doing anything, Killua said,

"Hey, eyepatch lady, you are not going to help?"

"Alright , alright." Sachiko said with a sigh. "I guess I will contribute a little bit more."

"Finally." Leorio said.

"Okay, stay back." Sachiko said. Only after the group was out of the way, she threw a huge ball of cursed energy towards the wall. The wall started to crumble at that, revealing a huge slide.

"I will be going first, guys!" Sachiko waved before getting onto the slide. She also made sure to reinforce her body with cursed energy to prevent any bruises from friction.

At the final destination, a door opened to reveal Sachiko.

"Nakamura Sachiko, applicant number 406, is second to pass. Time elapsed : 7 hours and 14 minutes"

As Sachiko stepped outside, Hisoka flashed a creepy grin.

Three minutes later, Killua, Gon and Kurapika appeared from the same door.

"Gon Freecs, applicant number 405, is third to pass. Time elasped: 7 hours 17 minutes."

"Killua Zoldyck, applicant number 99, is fourth to pass. Time elapsed : 7 hours 17 minutes."

"Kurapika, applicant number 404, is fifth to pass. Time elapsed : 7 hours 17 minutes."

"Three of them too?" Hisoka muttered.

About a minute later, Leorio arrived.

"Leorio Paradinight, applicant number 403, is sixth to pass. Time elapsed : 7 hours 18 minutes."

"Yes, we did it!" Gon cheered.

"Of course, we did." Sachiko said with a laugh, "Hisoka arrived before us, but it can't be helped. We had to face those annoyingly cunning criminals."

"But you are the creepy one, eye patch lady." Killua said.

"You are no better , skateboard kiddo!"

"Hahahaha." Gon laughed as he listened to their bickering.

Waiting until 72 hours time limit is up was the most boring thing, Sachiko concluded. All she could do was wait and watch as other applicants started to arrive one after another. Other than that, she really didn't have anything to do.

"This is so boring." Sachiko complained as she put another piece of cookie into her mouth and then took a sip of coffee. "How come we can't have chicken nuggets? Or burgers? or barbeque?"

"Do you think we can get out of the tower?" Sachiko asked the other four.

"Huh? Why?"

"I mean...this is boring. You saw those huge birds who ate an applicant while he climbed down the tower, right?"

"Yeah.. why?" Gon asked, having a bad feeling.

"I wannw roast them." Sachiko said seriously.

"But why?"

"I want a barbeque for dinner." She replied.

"I don't think we can go outside the tower. At least not until the third phase is officially over." Kurapika had to interfere.

"Ahhh...I'm going to die...." Sachiko lied on the floor and said dramatically.

"No, I think I'm going to die!!"

"Please do..die." Killua said.

"Noooo! Skateboard kiddo! You can't say that to your sister!" Sachiko said, drawing the attention of other applicants.

"Sister ?" Killua froze, Did he have a sister without him knowing?

"You're his sister?"

"I have decided to adopt you as my little brother!" Sachiko told him.

"Please don't." Killua said.

"What did you say, little brother? Don't make your sister sad!" Sachiko said it even louder so that it would draw more attention.

"You're embarrassing us." Killua and Kurapika massaged their glabella.

"I thought you want to be cool." Gon said.

"Yeah, but I'm bored so now I'm acting!" Sachiko announced.

"Please stop, you suck at it." Killua said.

"Not until you call me sister !"

"I will kill you instead!" Killua replied.

Just like that, the 72 hours time limit was finally up. There were only 25 applicants who passed the exam, including a deceased one.

'Congratulations for passing the third phase of hunter's exam. Random reward received. Do you want to open it?'

'Yeah, of course.'

'Reward opened. Host received an assassin's art : Shroud.'
