Damian Cross, a young man in his late 20s. Once hailed as a child prodigy, currently the Director of New York Central Health with a Ph.D. in Neurosurgery. That wish of his? To simply return home. Now Damian will face demonic invaders from an unknown realm as countless mysteries unfold. Despite bringing about the end of humanity, he is merely a cog in the machinations of fate alongside the wheels of time. ... [Phase 1: Choose A Side] Objective: Kill 1 or more humans ... The Good Don't Lie

There was an awkward silence in the apartment. The breeze from the window blew gently and the curtains flapped.

Damian waited but he didn't feel anything, meaning David wasn't lying.

He was nearly 90% sure that David had something to do with what happened on the 6th floor but now he wasn't sure.

'Is there something wrong with my skill?' He started doubting the efficiency of his skill. Maybe David was just telling the truth.

"Ok. I will take my leave now," Damian was already facing the exit so he just walked forward.

"Wait!" David said, "You're going to your haven right?"

"Oh yes, I forgot to tell you its location," Damian gave a dry laugh, "It's Worth Street Subway Station."

"Nice. You can go now. And be sure to expect us soon."

"...yeah."

Damian walked forward to leave then Harry trapped his shirt by the hand and looked at Damian with eyes that showed hints of fear.

"Don't worry, it'll be fine," Damian patted Harry on the head and proceeded to leave the apartment.

Walking down the stairs back to the 4th floor, Damian was in deep thought.

'Is it that David wasn't lying? If so then why is Harry so scared of him? I suspect Harry isn't letting out as much as he knew… anyway, I'll settle that later.'

Damian took his phone out from his pocket and wanted to try out the store function.

'So that's all it has?' Damian was disappointed to see the only two products the system had to offer.

'It was stupid of me to think it could sell physical items,' It seemed the system could only sell incorporeal products.

'But this system update will prove to be useful in the future... hmmm… how many feats do I need to accomplish to get that amount?'

Damian strolled down the stairs and realized he was too broke and powerless to be able to stay in the abandoned station with other people with ease.

He had to think of a way to constantly farm rings. He thought of duping people with dollars to get rings but who on earth would fall for that trick?

'Mark should probably have something in mind,' Damian quickened his pace down the stairs.

Arthur was staring blankly into the air as he sat at the dining table. Mark snored like a ferocious beast on the longest couch in the parlour.

Damian opened the door and entered the apartment and sat down on the couch dejectedly.

The weather was cold but not too cold. The air had a soothing sensation when taken in.

There was no power so the heater wasn't functional. Only Arthur wore clothing that could keep him from the cold.

The time was a quarter past three and it was getting closer to the end of the 1st phase.

They had to leave before the 2nd phase started since they didn't know what it had in store for them.

Damian took out his phone and checked the current phase details.

Damian had already packed all they needed earlier in the day so all they needed to do was hit the road.

Damian got up and re-checked all they had and made sure they weren't forgetting anything.

He knew they couldn't carry too much so each person had only a bag, the type used for camping.

All their supplies were in another bag. 2 tents, 3 coolers of food and drinks, 2 cartons of snacks, a medi-kit and other minor supplies.

They needed 2 round trips to transport their supplies to the basement, where Damian parked his car.

Damian woke Mark up and they immediately got to work.

They first had to go down to survey the area to see if it was clear.

Moving down, they quickly scanned through the 2nd and 3rd floor but there was no sign of life on both floor.

Getting to the basement, they were met with a mindless demon that was on a car.

Damian and Mark instinctively hid behind a pillar and carefully watched on as the demon banged the ceiling of the car.

The demon wasn't like Arthur's mother. This demon was skinny and had black featherless wings. It's back was bent in an unusual manner as it kept on banging on the car. Its horns were short and its eyes were red.

"What type of demon should we call this?" Mark asked, he had seen different types of demons flying around, walking around the streets and had seen the one that possessed Harry. He knew that not all demons were the same.

Damian didn't speak, he was only focused on what was on the hand of the demon… a silver wristwatch.

Damian didn't find this particular demon all that threatening so he decided to evaluate the type of demon using his skills; which was only swinging a knife.

"Wait here, I'll take care of that."

"Wait! Are you sure?"

"You're pretty cowardly for a police officer, do you know that?"

Mark let him leave uncaringly, 'If he wants to die so bad then why should I stop him?'

Damian walked to the demon calmly and taunted it. It turned to him and gave an ear-splitting scream.

Damian sped up his pace and the mindless demon jumped down the car and charged at Damian. It couldn't stand up straight so it moved on all fours.

Upon contact, the mindless demon slashed Damian's face with its sharp nails but due to Damian's agility he was able to dodge the attack by retreating backwards but it managed to scratch his face.

'It's faster and more agile than I anticipated.' Damian saw an opening here and headed straight for its abdomen with his knife ahead.

Stab!

The demon screamed in pain but succumbed to death in the end. It had no quick healing or resilience to be able to evade death.

Damian removed the wristwatch from the demon's corpse and kept it in his pocket.

"You'll be called 'skinny demon'."

Damian and Mark headed back and successfully transported all they needed to Damian's CUV.

Damian also had a Sedan but it wasn't large enough for what they had to carry.

All the transporting took approximately 30 minutes, adding the time Damian used to kill the demon. They had only about 28 minutes to the end of the 1st phase.
