Demon Hunting

Damian and Mark made their way to the 6th floor by stairs.

Mark was pensive and walked slowly and carefully. Damian had a feeling that just knives and metal bats won't be able to harm what they were up against and focused on his phone to possibly find a sure way to win.

Damian found something he wanted to test out so he put his phone in his pocket and increased his pace.

"Wait! Shouldn't we make a plan or something first?" Mark asked, making Damian stop in his tracks.

Damian noticed how hesitant and pensive Mark was.

'Is he doing this to try to atone for sins or something even though he's afraid?' Damian thought.

"Aren't you supposed to be a police officer? So why are you acting so cowardly even after putting up that show at the apartment?"

"... We aren't against normal humans and the police aren't taught how to kill demons!"

Damian sighed, "Fine. Have you seen your info on the new operating system?"

"...only at that time your phone fell."

"Ok. I have something I want to test out and I saw part of your information and it said you are half-demon and you have strength amplification."

"Y-Yeah, I think I saw that too."

"Good! Then it's settled." Damian immediately turned to continue his journey up the stairs.

"Wait!" Mark shouted, Damian, cursed and turned back to look at Mark.

"What?!" Damian asked spitefully.

"Is that it? We don't have a concrete plan yet!"

"How will we plan for something we don't even know?"

Mark couldn't answer and just followed behind Damian. Soon enough they got to the door of the 6th floor.

Damian got that eerie feeling from before once again.

"Feels so weird," Mark said. He didn't look pensive but disturbed this time.

'So he can feel it too.' Damian thought as he placed his hand on the door handle.

Click!

He opened the door and entered, Mark followed behind.

The lights of the hallway flickered and a sense of dread fell on the both of them.

"What the hell was that?" Mark asked but surely didn't expect an answer.

As they walked forward the lights flickered more intensely. Their destination was the 2nd apartment on the left, the apartment Stephanie said they stayed in for a few days.

When they got to the middle of the hallway the flickering instantly stopped and the light bulbs she's bright for a few seconds that felt like years then instantly went off, making the whole place dark.

"Shit! This is hella weird!" Mark cried out.

Damian continued moving forward because he heard a clicking sound.

Ting!

The elevator door opened and the elevator light gives the rest of the hallway dim lighting.

Damian stared at the elevator intently for seconds, then,

"Wahhhh!"

A black creature that had the head and body frame of a human but covered in thick black bandages emerged from the ceiling directly in front of the elevator then screamed right in front of Damian's face then disappeared.

Damian jolted backwards out of reflexes. The black creature only had a mouth and as it screamed it looked like the mouth was just tearing open.

"What the fuck was that? Shit!" Mark was scared out of his wits.

Damian looked around for it but it was like it was never there.

Suddenly, several black bandaged creature rose from the ground, walls and ceiling.

"Holy Shit!"

"Get your shit together Mark!" Damian yelled.

The creatures ran to then like madmen. Damian sliced and stabbed while Mark kicked and clubbed. Immediately the black creatures attacked they turn into black smoke.

The numbers of the black creatures weren't reducing but instead increasing at a frightening rate.

"We can't hold on any longer!" Mark sounded out to Damian.

The black creatures stopped fighting Damian and just collided with each other just a bit far in front of them, close to the elevator door.

Damian and Mark were perplexed but that changed to despair as they saw that they were merging to form a bigger black creature.

Mark didn't see but Damian saw the hand of someone, although it happened fast.

Damian had an idea of what he was to do since the creature was not trying to kill them but 'scare' them away. Damian realized the creature later joined together because it saw they were fighting back and now it thinks size will help it successfully scare them.

"Mark when I give you the order you grab onto that thing and hold it down ok?"

"What do you want to do?"

At least Mark didn't object. The big black creature wasn't fully formed and was piecing together itself together so it'll look large and humanoid. It had no legs and only an upper body, the lower part of its body was just black bandages merged with the ground but that upper body alone was large enough. Damian wasn't dumb enough to allow it to fully form.

Damian ran forward to it and it made one of its hands sharp like a spear so it could pierce Damian.

Damian dodged the hand by a near miss but the creature made a follow-up attack as it used its other hand to slam the ground.

The hand entered the ground and bandages emerged and swarmed over each other as it made its way towards Damian and Mark.

Damian looked at Mark and Mark knew why so he nodded in accord.

"Ahhhhh!"

Mark charged into the swarm, bitting and tearing the bandages.

He cleared a path for Damian but the bandages slowly dragged him into the ground.

Damian didn't wait for the bandages to recover and charged forward then stepped on Mark's back then leapt into the air and landed behind the black creature.

He stretched his hand forward into an opening in the creature's chest.

"Waaahhhhh!"

The creature screamed and all the bandages tried to pull Damian away but he lingered on.

Damian grabbed onto something in its body and it let out a scream louder than the last and all its bandages moved around crazily.

Some bandages came shooting out from its body and one sliced Damian slightly on his cheek and his blood slowly seeped out.

"Aarrgghh!"

Mark groaned and grabbed the creature from behind. Bandages were still holding him down but he pressed on.

Damian didn't want to waste the opportunity Mark created for him and grabbed what he held onto tighter.

Mark dragged the creature backwards while Damian dragged what he held onto forward.

"Arrrggghhhh!" They both shouted as what Damian grabbed onto slowly came out.

Split!

The bandages slowly turned into black smoke, the lights came back on, Mark fell to the ground out of exhaustion and Damian held a boy and gently laid him on the ground.

Damian looked at the number on the back of the boy's hand and it was '10'.

He got the result of what he wanted to test out and it was successful. It was his second time using 'Demotion'.
