Chapter 71: Biggest fish market and Sightseeing

Bai Yi Yang and the team doesn't have much time, they can only take a quick bath and change clothes before leaving the inn. Old man Cui looks younger by a few years as he feel excited heading to the fish market. He was talking non stop along the way.

When they arrived at the huge fish market at 5.30 am in the morning, there are quite a large crowd already. Of course they are not here just for them, the auction for other tuna is already going on since 5.00 am. But the tuna they caught is also a big reason that there are more people here today, or to be exact the 670 pounds tuna that they bring with them.

Their tuna is freshly caught, everything is labelled as Grade 1. Tuna are graded into grade 1, 2+, 2, and 3. Grade 1 is the best, and the tuna that they caught is even better than average Grade 1 tuna. Other than the grading, the size will also determine how much the tuna can be sold. The bigger the tuna is the more attention it will get so it is always good for big restaurant to buy big tuna.

So Bai Yi Yang and her group is excited when it was their tuna turn to be auctioned. Bai Yi Yang's bluefin tuna that weighed 562 pound was sold at 325$ per pound, 477 pound sold at 285$, 421 pound at 235$, 405 pound at 230$, and lastly the 397 pound was sold at 215$.

This prices is very high, but it is only natural, there are no tuna that can match their catch today and the freshness too. Their catch has also caught a lot of attention, it has been spread that the fishing crew caught a lot, so this is free publicity if they are able to get one of the tuna. There may be other people who also have similar quality and freshness as the one they caught but their fish is sold at lower price, that is because there is no story that the restaurant can spread out to attract more people. This is just how the world's work.

Tuna is actually just tuna, but when a restaurant buy a tuna this big, make a video as and advertisement, let the local news informed that their place bought a giant tuna, then it really worth the price. Its just that small restaurant won't even compete with this, they are usually bought by big restaurant, hotels or even from overseas.

Even the 562 pound tuna was bought by an oversea people, this is why the pricing was put in dollar. This is an international fish market that not only local people goes to.

Finally it is the 670 pounds tuna which everyone looks forward too.

"I can see that this can sell for whopping 400$ or more." Old man Cui said. Watching the auction is fun as long as they understand the hand gestures that the people is using, but they haven't see any tuna bigger than this one that was caught by Bai Yi Yang.

As the leader of the fishing crew, the captain is standing in front with the auctioneer, they are amongst the crowd watching as they also didn't want to stand out.

"Actually it can go higher during festival day. But this will fetch a good price." An uncle in their group commented.

As they guessed, the auction price immediately start from a high 300$ per pound. Bai Yi Yang is amazed, the 562 pound tuna start from 250$. She is actually amazed with the purchasing power of the people here.

The price keep going up fast passed 400$ and some had already give up. The remaining people however still didn't want to back off, there is even this one person ask for a break because he wanted to make a phone call. When the price passed 500$ range, there is only two local buyer left, the foreigner gave up when his price of 495$ is suppressed, he left feeling devastated and make another phone call.

"The two left are well known buyer, the other is a buyer for the biggest sushi restaurant who has chains even oversea and the other is a buyer for a famous hotel." A person among the crowd who can speak Chinese said. He had heard these group of people talking and he also feels interested to gossip.

"You are local?" Old man Cui said, he shield Bai Yi Yang behind him. They never know when bad people can pop out anytime so they big men naturally need to shield the young lady.

"No. I am a buyer for our restaurant in City Shang, you all are from City Nan?" He said. Seeing that they are a bit guarded against him, he smile politely. This old man is protective of his granddaughter, why bring her out to this crowded place at the first place?

"Yes, correct." Old man Cui said.

"I have been staying here for long. You know, it's really hard to compete here, people all over the world come here to buy authentic tuna from Country J." He tell them a bit of his story.

"The two people competing won't stop anytime soon. The one with the blue shirt has the restaurant's pride behind him while the other guy in maroon, he is in trouble if he can't get this tuna." The man said,

"Why do you say so?" Bai Yi Yang is interested.

"It's because the blue shirt is like a king here, the biggest and finest one always went to him. As for the one in maroon, their hotel is hosting a big international event, they will need this to show off." The man said again.

"Then who do you think will get it?" Bai Yi Yang ask again.

"The maroon guy bah. You see, the blue guy has a pride but he will freak out when the price passed 600$." The man laugh.

Just like he said, the 670 pound tuna already passed 600$, people also become more excited to see the final winner. And just when the maroon guy receive a call, he immediately up the price to 650$, making the blue guy speechless. The blue guy is frowning but the price is too high, he really cannot bid anymore. Today, he really can't get his hand on this good item.

"Sold at 650$!" The auctioneer shout. The maroon guy laugh and clap with the crowd.

"Congratulations.." The blue guy said.

"Good. My friend, you see I really need this one, next time I won't compete with you." The maroon guy shake hands with the blue guy.

After all these, the other tuna is also sold, the buyer and seller can now settle the account. The captain was talking to the buyers when he ask for some time and come toward their group.

"Mr.Cui, little miss. For the money, we need to transfer it to your account, after I calculate the price and pay the auctioneer, I will gave you the receipt in details." The captain said. Bai Yi Yang and Old man Cui nod.

"This afternoon during lunch, let's meet at the restaurant at the inn. We will settle the account then." The captain said before going to the buyer again.

The team finally leave the fish market. Now is already 7 am, just right for a breakfast. They all crammed into a car so they can go places easily. They head to a famous restaurant for breakfast, it was Old man Cui treat. Bai Yi Yang actually never know these people background but she can guess by the way the casually enter restaurant and ordering without looking at the price. Old man Cui also can communicate in basic local language. So all of them have a hearty breakfast.

After that, they head to a fishing shop, the middle aged men immediately turn into a child seeing a toy. Only old man Cui and Bai Yi Yang who looks quite unaffected.

"I already fulfilled my wish, I think this is my last time sea fishing." Old man Cui said.

"That is good..I actually agree with that." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Hahaha. I was already making plans for next week, but since your little luck transferring ceremony, I caught a good one. When I told my wife about finally catching a tuna and quitting, she almost wanted to kowtow to you." Old man Cui said. Bai Yi Yang release a chuckle.

"Grandma is overreacting." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Old Sun said that you came from the town he is staying now. What does your parents said about you coming here?" Old man Cui said.

"I don't have a parents. I am living with my siblings." Bai Yi Yang said with a small smile.

"And I am not related to Uncle Sun either, he is just close with our family." She said. Old man Cui was taken aback.

"That..I don't know..I shouldn't have asked." Old man Cui said.

"It's nothing, I am used to it now." Bai Yi Yang said.

"How about after returning to City Nan, you come stay for a day at our house. We two old people live by ourselves, our children is old and our grandchildren is older than you." Old man Cui said.

"Then I have to decline. I already promised my siblings to return on the same day, they may be worried." She said.

"Alright, alright. Then when you come to the city in the future, you should call me and stay at our house for a day or two." He said. Bai Yi Yang nod.

After the fishing shop, they went to walk around a road to sightsee, enter a few souvenirs shops to buy things. Yesterday, Bai Yi Chen gave her cash and they exchanged it when they were in the airport. Now, she have 35,000 of local money in her pocket. It is really a bit difficult since she don't have her own bank account, she need to go by cash when she go overseas. Bai Yi Yang bought enough souvenirs and local snacks to bring home. Her money is almost gone too.

"Uncle Sun, when we return, I will pay for my cost here." Bai Yi Yang said to Boss Sun.

"Nonsense, I bring you here. If I ask for payment then I won't dare bring you along again." Boss Sun said.

"How can that be." Bai Yi Yang said.

"No need. This is a last minute trip, next time when you decided to join again, then I will let you pay your bill." Boss Sun said.

"Alright. Thank you Uncle Sun, because of you I make a lot of money in foreign country." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Hahaha. People will think that you rob a bank in Country J if you say it like this. Who is like you in this world? We only came to have little experience with tuna fishing but you are here to beat all the local fishermen." Boss Sun said laughing. Bai Yi Yang grinned, well, how can she let go of the opportunity ah.

After a short stroll, they all head back to the inn to rest. It was a bit tiring staying up all nights on a boat. They all promise to wake up at 12.30 and have lunch at the inn restaurant and meet up with the captain before catching their flight at 3.23 pm.

Bai Yi Yang return to her room and saw TongTong eating on a bunch of snacks in the room. Bai Yi Yang laugh and told it to wait for her. She went downstairs and order food to bring to her room. She immediately fed TongTong after she returned.

"So, how is the food?" Bai Yi Yang ask.

'The seafood is very fresh so its okay. But the cooking skills is not as good as host.' TongTong said.

"Sweet talker. Anyway, I am sleepy, wake me up later ya." She said and lied down on the bed. Leaving TongTong to eat the food.
