Chapter 141: First branch
"The three of you follow me to the kitchen." Bai Chang Yan said to his two sons and 4th daughter when they arrived home, as for the younger generation, they should stay out of this conversation even though Bai Yi Chao is an important cause of the humiliation they received today. Those who didn't come together to the ancestral home is confused.
"What happened? Why did you all return this early and why is our granddaughter crying?" Grandma Bai or her real name Tang Ji Ren ask her husband.
As soon as they enter the house, everyone doesn't seems to be in a good mood, the adults are frowning and her granddaughter Bai Yi Chao are crying as she directly enter her bedroom. As for the other grandchildren, they didn't say anything and only look at their feet when they enter.
"Don't ask. You follow me too, youngest, you too." Bai Chang Yan glare at his old wife and said to her youngest daughter.
"Dad, I am taking care of the children." The youngest of the siblings said, she is called Bai Ji Na, also a school teacher.
"So many people are here. Eldest daughter-in-law, you take care of the children." Bai Chang Yan said it to his eldest son's wife who is not doing anything.
"Yes, father." The eldest daughter-in-law said and take over watching over the children. Bai Ji Na said a few words and follow the rest to the kitchen.
"Now say it." Tang Ji Ren become impatient and ask.
"All because of you..why do you have to say that kind of words and let this stupid daughter of you to say it outside." Bai Chang Yan scold his wife.
"Dad, I am not stupid. It's the ungrateful children who is rude to me first." The 4th daughter Bai Ji Li said, still not satisfied.
"This is why I am calling you stupid. Your words affect our whole family, we have become a laughing stock!" Bai Chang Yan lose his cool and got angry again. This makes everyone didn't dare to open their mouth to refute, even if Bai Ji Li is unsatisfied, she can only shut her mouth.
"Eldest, you are stupid too this time. How come you don't know that your daughter caused that much trouble? What if that lawyer from City Nan really sue her and the school, your career will end and our family will be shamed too. Useless!" Bai Chang Yan said. Nobody else said a words after that. Tang Ji Ren is confused but she is afraid of her husband so she didn't dare to ask anything even though she really are not sure on what is currently happening now.
"Dad, you call me and mom here but you didn't even tell us what's going on before you get angry. Since it's like this, then why even bother to call us?" Bai Ji Na said while frowning. She is the youngest but she has more influence than her 4th younger sister in the family since she have her own career, so, she dare to speak like this.
"You all tell them what good things you have done." Bai Chang Yan glare at her three children who was present at the ancestral home.
After they retell the real story in details, Bai Ji Na look at her three older siblings with a ridiculing expression.
"Dad I told you that kicking them out is a mistake. Where do you think they get the money from? Must be from the Jiang family, they must have received something in secret that's why they didn't only survive up to these days, but also looks much better than before. Dad, you really lose a lot because of second brother's temper. Such a group of good grandchildren, and you remove them from the family, people surely will laugh at us." Bai Ji Na said.
Bai Ji Na is one of the member of Bai family that doesn't agree with her parents and other siblings way of treating the children. When her late 3rd brother's children were abused 2 years ago, she was on the children side since she also can relate to her second brother's abusive tendency, when they were young, she is also a victim but her parents keep siding with the 2nd son because he is a boy while she is a girl. Then, the abuse also happened to her 3rd brother's children, how can she continue to keep quiet?
However, in the family, she is the youngest and also a female, her power is really very limited. Other than calling the doctor to look at the siblings, she really cannot win against her parents and older brother. When the children wanted to move to City Bei, that is the least thing that she can do to help them. Help Bai Yi Chen arranging the school transfer and also transportation. With how her family treated the orphans, she also feel a bit guilty from it.
"You shut up, so disrespectful!" The 2nd son Bai Jian Guo warn his youngest sister.
"So what? You going to beat me? Go ahead, I won't settle like that bunch of children and let you stay in jail to reflect." Bai Ji Na look at Bai Jian Guo in the eyes and laugh as if ridiculing him.
"You b**ch!" Bai Jian Guo stood up and wanted to slap Bai Ji Na on the face. Tsk, tsk. His temper haven't change a bit.
"Sit down! When are you going to control that bad temper of yours?!" Bai Chang Yan shout at his second son. This makes Bai Ji Na smile in triumph behind her dad.
"Don't try to drag me into this mess. My relationship with them is good, the pair of twin is smart, they will know to differentiate right and wrong. You all slowly discuss, I will go look after the kids." Bai Ji Na said and wanted to leave the kitchen.
"You stay. Because of your good relationship..I am thinking..why don't you go and ask them about how much the inheritance is. If..it its worth a lot, then it's not to late to transfer their registration again..anyway they are your 3rd brother's children.." Bai Chang Yan shamelessly said. Still thinking of the money that he can get from the children after everything they have done to the children.
"No, they are so rude..I don't want.." Tang Ji Ren dislikes the children even more after the story at the ancestral home. So what if she lose 5 grandchildren, she still have a lot.
"What do you know?! Keep quiet and listen." Bai Chang Yan scold his wife.
"I don't want to, even if I am meeting them again, I am not doing it for you." Bai Ji Na reject it outright.
"Right, I will bring my husband and children home now since there is nothing else to discuss. Then." Bai Ji Na add before leaving the kitchen.
Bai Ji Na is not the favourite child, nor the favourite daughter. She is a teacher but her husband doesn't have work and stays at home to take care of the house and children, that's why her parents is looking down on her husband. When there are family gathering, her husband will usually stay in the kitchen to cook since her parents always find something to mock her husband. She really hates it but what can she do, they are still her family after all.
"That…she is getting more rebellious.." The 4th daughter Bai Ji Li point at her younger sister.
"Eldest, you are the wisest here..what do you think we should do?" Bai Chang Yan ask his eldest son Bai Jian Hua.
"Dad, I don't think we can do anything for now. Just now, I try talking to Yi Chen, but he didn't even glance at me. Yi Chen is the most soft hearted amongst them, he was also the one who agree to not report the case from 2 years ago because of the family relationship, but even him is treating me coldly now. I think we can only stay low for now, let the youngest get close to them and we can take advantage to this later." Bai Jian Hua said.
"Good, good. Then we do this. Make sure your children didn't find trouble with them, learn from Chao Chao, she almost got into trouble because of her mouth, especially you, wife and fourth." Bai Chang Yan warn her family. He doesn't want anyone to ruin his plan to take the children inheritance from the Jiang family.
After that, they were talking about the Bai siblings money. How they were able to fly to City Bei at ease and wear all the expensive clothes that only people in the city can wear. Flights ticket is not cheap for people like them who only have enough money for daily expenses, the beautiful clothes also have brand that Bai Ji Li's children is wearing.
Two years ago, the siblings money is at most 50,000 yuan left, maybe even less than that. After this two years, if they didn't have an inheritance, then it's really impossible to have some extra money to travel to City Bei, so there is really other source of money.
This is the case for the first branch while the Bai siblings is already asleep in their hotel room. Everyone is a bit tired today so after arriving at the hotel, Bai Yi Yang ordered a room service, just a bunch of sandwiches for a quick lunch. Who was it that said that room service is too expensive? Bai Yi Yang ends up ordering 3 times now because of it's convenience. The siblings quickly clean up and had their lunch and they all fall asleep.
TongTong was waiting for them in front of the hotel when they returned, so Bai Yi Yang was complaining about those things that happened at the ancestral home. TongTong don't even have the chance to tell her about its exciting journey around City Bei, meeting stray cats and talking to them, then being chased by stray dog, then going to the zoo to meet the other animals. It was really exciting. Anyway, it will have a lot of time to tell the host when the host return to school, the host will dazed off in class and it can talk about it then. TongTong also joined the siblings eating sandwich for lunch, then sleep comfortably with them in the spacious bed.
Bai Yi Yang woke up at 4.30 pm and saw Bai Yi Chen sitting at the lounge area with his phone. He is texting someone. Actually they still can sleep a bit more, they only settled down by 2.00 pm so it is fine to sleep a bit more. Bai Yi Yang tuck in her younger siblings and TongTong who is sleeping on Bai Yi Ling's stomach before waking up. She head to the lounge and sit with Bai Yi Chen.
"Who?" Bai Yi Yang stretch as she tied her hair into a bun.
"Youngest aunt." Bai Yi Chen said, he have this slightly complicated expression. Bai Yi Yang is a bit confused, which youngest aunt is this again?
"Our late father's youngest sister." Bai Yi Chen sigh. Youngest aunt is still good to them, but it's not like they are very close too. Youngest aunt doesn't like to attend the family gathering before, so Bai Yi Chen is also not as close to her as the other. But, 2 years ago, she was the only one who stand by their side and also helped them a bit, so he didn't dislike her. Bai Yi Chen is not a fool, only because they are from the same family, it doesn't mean that everyone is bad.
"Ohh..why? What did she say?" Bai Yi Yang ask. She doesn't have impression on this youngest aunt, and nobody ever mention her. So most probably she is neither good nor bad towards them siblings. This is the category of people which she still can consider getting close to.
"She wanted to meet up and invite us siblings to eat dinner at their house." Bai Yi Chen said as he look at Bai Yi Yang's expression. The first branch just insulted them, now someone from the first branch wanted to get close to them.
"Then invite her and her family to the restaurant. We can add a few more seat to the reservation." Bai Yi Yang said.
For dinner, the original plan was to go visit Bai Yu Jing's house and have dinner there, but Bai Yi Yang changed it to a dinner at a restaurant to thank Bai Yu Jing and her family, including the Old Nian couple. They were supposed to eat together in City Nan last time but Bai Yu Jing and her husband was in a rush to return.
Bai Yi Yang has browsed through the good restaurants in City Bei and found a place called Oriental Restaurant, its specialised in authentic City Bei dishes and other famous Chinese dishes. She book a private room and ordered a total of 8 dishes, since another family is coming, the she can add 2-3 more dishes.
Bai Yi Yang already ordered City Bei's famous roasted duck, boiled mutton with the restaurant's signature soup, shredded pork with City Bei's special sauce, bird nest soup, three kinds of dumplings, shrimp with vermicelli and garlic, kung pao chicken and a vegetable dish.
Bai Yi Chen immediately reply back and got a confirmation from Bai Ji Na, she agreed with the arrangement and said that she will bring her husband and three children to meet them.
Bai Yi Yang didn't waste time, she called the restaurant once more to add the chairs. Since there will be a lot of children, the staff from the restaurant suggests to add a table for the children, Bai Yi Yang immediately agree. Other than that, she also add two more dishes which are steamed fish and sweet and sour pork. Then since there will be a lot of children, she also ask the staff to add their specialty dessert into it.
Only then did Bai Yi Yang put down the phone. Their dinner reservations will be at 8.00 pm, so they still have a lot of time. Bai Yi Yang chat with Bai Yi Chen until 5.00 pm when the children also woke up by themselves.
"Jie, I am bored watching TV, should we go take a walk?" Bai Yi Fang is standing in front of the floor to ceiling glass wall and watching the place around the hotel in interest.
"Okay, let's change into casual clothes and walk a bit. The hotel staff said that there is a tourist street 10 minutes from here." Bai Yi Yang said.
The siblings cheer and immediately went to wash their face and teeth then changed into casual clothing with jacket, then wear their sneakers. Since they are going for a walk, they need to wear something comfortable.
