6 The new A.I.

The forest was quiet. Almost too quiet. Nothing lived except for trees and plants along with a hundred thousand ants on a planet half the size of Earth. However it was more dense giving David a familiar feeling. David still trained his physique, because he could only speed up or slow down time not stop it. David was currently riding on the back of an ant. He reached the base as it was growing in size. It had two layers of walls, along with watch towers. David got off the ant and ran towards his mother ship

core. The first ring was almost done, and David completely ignored it. Later on, production became a bigger issue then science or resource gathering. Industry had to be built from scratch. David slammed the automatic door behind him as he sat down and looked at the completed A.I. He excitedly said," Hello?". No answer.

David was now worried. He worriedly asked "Hello?". No answer. David was getting completely worried, before a blasting noise came out of the on board speakers.

"I CAN HEAR YOU OVERLORD DAVID NOW PLEASE BE QUIET WHILE I ADJUST,".

Silence came afterwards as David had no words. Weren't A.I.s nicer? Weren't they more reliable. What happened?

"I'm sorry overlord, however the computers on this core are extremely advanced and powerful. It is like a baby holding a gun. The processors are powerful, but I need time to adapt by adding rules to the way data is processed,"

David just sat there before mumbling out," so what?".

The A.I. said obviously annoyed," Me need time to work,".

"How much time?" David bluntly asked.

"One month," the A.I. replied.

"That's way top much, what is the time with this upgrade card?". David held out a coin. It was the upgrade token embalmed with a fiery one.

"Use it to find out," the A.I. replied.

[Upgrade grade C A.I.?]

Grade A was standard like the mining bots. B was like the soldier bots. C was this A.I.

"What would D be like?" David wondered as he clicked accept. Nothing magical happened yet.

"Hello" David asked.

"Hello," David asked a bit worried. He felt it was like a fleeting dream.

"Helloooo," David never finished as another loud voice blasted out of the speakers.

"WHAT IN THE COSMOS IS THAT COIN, IT FIXED ALL MY PROBLEMS WITH THE PROCESSORS, BUT NOW IT ADDED MORE FUNCTIONS WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS,".

"David started to cover his ears as he heard the last couple of sentences from the A.I.

"Overlord please give me two months to recover," the A.I pleaded as it finished with," and no more of those tokens until I'm ready you hear me?".

"I regret my choice," David finally said after thinking for a bit. He could still utilize Dragon's robot slots of 80(Base ten times 2 for each rank past A) however the mothership was taking a whopping half of the slots automatically, and the A.I. was taking another quarter to finish fixing the mess inside of its kernel. That left 20 slots. David quickly filled it up with 10 soldier bots with upgraded A.I. and the other ten onto a turret. It was an anti- air cannon that shot out solid shells made from the depleted uranium created from the mothership reactor. Nothing was wasted.

David compiled his thoughts as he finally asked the more important question on his mind.

"Hey A.I. what's your name?".

David was genuinely curious. After all the A.I referred to itself as I.

"You still didn't answer my previous question," the A.I. countered.

"Sure, but tell me your name," David continued.

The A.I. thought for a long time, also known as three seconds for David. The A.I. had all the processing power of a rank E mothership core after all.

"Why not Hey. Its extremely efficient," the A.I. stated.

"That's confusing, when there are more people, you would be called accidentally often.

"Error, Overlord mentioned he would be with people, however the functions are reporting a very low number with your current behavior,".

David took a deep breath, and turned around to take another deep exhale.

David turned around to say," I want a better name,".

"Kitty, or Unicorn," The A.I. mockingly said.

"No," David bluntly said.

"No fun, alright how about Dragon. You strive to be like one after all,".

David thought about it. Powerful, check, Free, check, rich, check, and even immoral, check.

"Alright then, when will the ring finish," David finally asked.

"One more week, and also you should train your body in the mines in order to increase production and strengthen your body," Dragon advised as he went back to work.

David then spent the next whole week grabbing a pick axe straight from the fabricator and picking a solid wall. No technique, but with his resolve and purpose he widened it. Callouses, bruises, and blisters wore at him. However David bought cheap healing items and persevered. He added barely any ore, compared to the grade 1 ants, mining robots, and the grade 0 ants, but they all worked.

[Achievement get Manual Labor]

"Well at least I got that going for me," David nonchalantly said, while shivering and shaking from the pain.

Dull pain. Waves of pain. Jarring pain every stroke. His back hurt. His character was refined in a way.

"SCREW THIS CRAP," David yelled out at the last day as he walked out of the mines and chucked the pick axe into the smeltery. Dragon got mad at him for that muttering something about efficiency loss, but David felt a lot better. David straightened up as he looked into the stars. It was nearing his time to leave this planet for the stars.
