79 Chapter 79 - Investigation Mission

(Before we start. I have something to mention. Warning, possible spoiler alert.

I by no means understand or know the plot and lore of Azur Lane and I doubt anyone does here. So, while most of the stuff I stated about the lore may be somewhat accurate. It's by no means actually accurate with so many conflicting iterations from CN lore forum etc and I may even purposely spin them around to fit my narration.

Next is the plot I came up with for Azur Lane world. I know some may already ask, what the hell is that floating tree? Honestly, I also don't know. I dream about it fr last night and say, maybe it's a sign? So, I add it and just roll with it and somehow it spirals to becoming the sign for Adam that the Azur Lane universe is in fact interconnected to a multiverse through that same dimension where origin energy is stolen from like a backdoor.

Also, someone suggested making Deus X the Being X from Youjo Senki. I accepted that suggestion.

So, rejoice my people. We will be graced by loli Hitler once again in near future. Possibly at the very end of the Azur Lane arc when we introduced freedom to the virgin land of Youjo Senki for whatever reason he might have in the future.

Anyway, back to the story.)

A few hours after he woke up in the infirmary bed, Adam is currently in the main bridge of the Orbital Fortress with Agent by his side as he tries to figure out what his next move is after accounting for everything which left him with one last missing information which is about the floating tree.

"So, anything new about that tree? Has the government investigated it?" He asks while still looking at the analysis data Agent presents to him about the said mysterious tree.

"No attempt has been made yet but most likely Master will be assigned with that task."

"That's… would be the best case scenario for us." Adam mutters as his eyes caught a glimpse of human or at least humanoid creature on the floating tree captured by the Orbital Fortress observation lens. The said human had elongated ears very strikingly similar to Elves.

The question would be why and how did they arrive in this world? The multiverse of Azur Lane is basically just multiple copies of the original universe created by Siren with the Natural Calculation System. So, to have Elves would mean there are Elves in the original timeline. But that is highly unlikely but not impossible either since the Elves might just accidentally stumbled into the original timeline before ending up here. Just like he could do Interdimensional travel, there are other beings out there with similar ability too.

"What about the Siren activity? Did anything change?" Adam put aside the conversation about the mysterious visitors since he will not get any further than what he had now until he investigates them.

"They remain passive ever since the arrival of the mysterious guest." Agent shows the images of Siren raking up their numbers but staying mostly around their own territory instead of harassing human ships and invading their waters like usual.

Adam has a guess that Leviathan's appearance has something to do about that. Understandably because they are definitely in shock that their nemesis almost breached out from the original timeline as only that timeline has fully manifested Leviathan.

Then Adam fell into deep thoughts. He learned that his action to raise the shipgirl's power is futile because no matter how powerful they become, they could never reach Deus X. Only his power could. Only his power can really harm the god. However, Adam couldn't help but wonder if that's truly the case.

His System will never propose an impossible task. His System proposes a task because he can accomplish it. If that's the case, then his System's quest to support the development of Project KANSEN would mean they weren't obsolete. He just missed something. He lacked a puzzle piece that would complete the entire puzzle.

Seeing a deep frown on his Master's face, Agent couldn't bear to watch and asked, "What is it that ails your mind, Master? Perhaps sharing it with me would help." She suggested while only trying to be helpful.

She knew Adam very well for obvious reasons. She trusts him to share his burden when he thinks she can help so they can shoulder it together while keeping secrets of what he thinks is better kept to himself. However, her question isn't to accuse him of not trusting her enough. Instead, she just has a gut feeling that Adam is needing her help to figure things out, which he did.

Adam explains everything. The new information he obtained and his thoughts about the missing puzzle piece. Upon listening and understanding what he said, Agent immediately figured out the solution.

"If the solution to defeating Deus X is Master's own Semblance. Then the answer is to make the shipgirls harness Master's Aura that contains the Semblance's effect. Just like how Siegfried, Jeanne and Jalter are able to harness the effect of Master's Semblance." Agent shared the solution she thought of.

"Indeed I thought of that. However, the problem would be how. The shipgirls aren't Servants that could siphon my own Aura for them to wield." He commented.

"It's possible." Agent corrected Adam who immediately gave her his full attention. "How?" He wondered

"Remember that you said Wisdom Cube can siphon energy from another dimension and store it? Why can't it siphon energy from someone and store it instead?" She answered.

Adam immediately had the urge to facepalm because the answers were that obvious yet he didn't think of it. The idea of using the Wisdom Cube simply didn't cross his mind because he was more focused on trying to find a way to solve his problem rather than improvise with existing resources in hand.

There isn't a need to praise. The grateful look on Adam's face when she presented him the answer is enough for Agent. But he praised her anyway and promised her a reward of her liking.

"Then, I will be awaiting you tonight, Master." She lowered her face next to his ear before she whispered and gave him a wink after that as she smiled devilishly.

Adam came to a swift realization that he did the deed with all his wives except Agent and she definitely knows it because she has ears even in the walls. Tonight will be a long one considering she is the only one that can keep up with his stamina because she didn't have the concept of exhaustion.

The same afternoon, Adam received his order from the top to investigate the mysterious visitors which include threat assessment and if they are friendly or not.

———

The next day in the late morning, a team of special force soldiers along with a US diplomat arrived on the base by a twin rotor military helicopter.

They were the group that Adam was supposed to escort to handle the meeting with the mysterious visitor. He isn't the one doing the contact obviously as it is not in his job description as the Commander of the shipgirls.

Adam was there with Enterprise and New Jersey when the diplomat arrived. He dressed in full uniform as he watched their newly arrived group exit the heli and greeted them.

"Welcome. I am the Commander of this base, Adam White." Adam offered a hand which they immediately shook as he noticed the diplomat warily glanced at Enterprise and New Jersey a split second before accepting his handshake.

The fact his escorts are very tense and wary around the shipgirls is enough to tell how bad they perceive them. But at least they are professional enough to not let their opinions interrupt their task.

"Alan Genesis, the diplomat assigned to make contact with the unknown visitor." The man introduced himself.

It piqued his interest that someone would have such a unique surname but he dismissed it a moment later as he was questioned about his preparation.

"Your escorts are ready to set sail. New Jersey will be the flagship of the fleet." Adam introduced New Jersey who immediately started introducing herself.

"Indeed. I am New Jersey, the Indomitable Black Dragon of the Eagle Union, will be escorting you. Hehe~ With me, you can rest assured that the escort will be 100% safe." She said with both hands on her hip as she proudly declared. "Don't cha think so too, Commander?" She slung one of her arms on Adam's shoulder asking him a question.

She is indeed correct as she is technically the strongest ship in the entire base. If she can't do it, others wouldn't either. The mission is to escort the diplomat into the waters which sits in Siren territory that are currently swarmed with Siren ships that are on high alert after the recent incident.

"Indeed, she is currently the strongest ship in this base. I have my full confidence in her." Adam nodded and recalled that New Jersey had become exponentially more stronger post upgrade.

"I will take your words to it, Sir White." Alan nodded as his opinion about shipgirls improved slightly as he started to interact with them.

Although Adam failed to take notice that Enterprise behind him was silently pouting due to jealousy when he said New Jersey is the strongest even if it's the truth and she normally wouldn't bat an eye over it but now she did as she feel her heart and mind becoming restless when he praised someone else but not her.

"Then, if you are prepared. We can depart immediately." Adam asked while he already had everything ready to go.

"That would be perfect. We will depart immediately." The diplomat, Alan, agreed.

Adam led everyone to the port to see a fleet ready and waiting to be deployed. There is Indianapolis, Portland, Laffey, Saratoga and Hornet waiting by the port as they aren't being assigned to this task of escorting.

Adam introduced them one by one to each other before he stopped at Laffey who nodded and summoned her rigging ship much to the diplomat and his bodyguards surprise as this is the first time they ever see a KANSEN in action.

"I see, so she will be our ride." Alan mutters quietly but unfortunately was still heard by Laffey and gets a not so friendly stare from her.

Indeed it is as the Navy hadn't sent him any spare ship for this mission. He can't exactly just ask the girls to carry them with their hands. So, the most obvious solution is to use someone's rigging ship and Laffey is his choice because Destroyers have the highest speed.

The plan was to get everyone on Laffey's ship instead of letting everyone travel on their own because they have different speeds. With Heavy Cruisers, Aircraft Carriers and Battleship in the fleet, their speed is obviously slow as an entire fleet but that's not the case if everyone just boards on Laffey's ship. Also, in case of battle. They can just jump off the ship and return once done.

"Now, let's go." Adam invites everyone on board and prepares to depart since time is the essence for this mission.

The journey will take more than a day even at Laffey's top speed. That is if the sea is calm. One could never really expect what the weather will be on the sea but thankfully Adam can see the weather and the potential Siren ambush using the Orbital Fortress and plan his route ahead of time.

—————

(I think I forgot to talk about this. Adam is called Commander. That isn't actually his Naval officer rank. But actually his appointment as the one who runs the base and manages the shipgirls. So, his rank in the Navy isn't high at all. More like a special circumstance kind of rank that was created as an exception out of necessity to command the shipgirls as a way to not give too much power to someone that will be managing an equivalent group of humanoid weapons and rebelled or staging a coup. Just a minor detail.)

(Energy from Wisdom Cube can create life, create things out of nothing and bending reality? Called Origin Energy?

The sign couldn't have been more obvious hinting Origin Energy is the divine power of a god.)
