Blood battle competition

The clan heads met up and agreed to hold a blood battle competition. Short explanation for y'all: two guys fight to the death, one wins, one dies. The one who wins can go back and rest, or keep fighting. This continues untill one side gives up and submits to the other, effectively turning two clans into one.

This is a pretty effective system of establishing the ranking of the new hierarchy. The clan leader's are definitely going to fight to the death. They have no choice, but they are the last contenders, so they technically can submits way before their turn, but that means giving up your name. I don't care about name or anything else. The only thing I care about is what is useful for the righteous path, aka reputation and strength.

The reason I wanted to stay behind was Gu Yue clan's strength. They are stronger than Xiong clan, so I need to sabotage them. I will secretly use my luck path Gu on the contestants and, coincidentally, I am the battle lord here. The green man Qing Shu can kiss my ass! His reputation can't compare to mine and all he got is co-leader. My strength is also superior to him, as I have the rank 2 little moonglow combo and a perfect defensive move. I fought him and he was forced to admit defeat within 3 moves. Ya, like some random guy with no killer moves can compete with my unique killer set of rank 3 offense and rank 3 defense.

That is how I became the lord and can now directly attach failure Gu to anyone I feel like. The first fighters were Gu Yue Mǒu rén and Xiong Suíjī. Rank 1 battles are basically pointless, so I will skip over them for you guys. The number of people literally took a huge dive and went from 330 to about 180, which are pretty big casualties if you ask me. 150 MFs died for a clan, that doesn't even care about them.

Rank 1's are random garbage to be thrown around by higher ups, so no one cared about their resources. They felt like this was a huge chance to earn merits and increase their standing, especially for a clan like Gu Yue, where rank 1 are abundant and are widely "used". One guy really impressed me with his dedication and skill, though.

"I am rank 1 pinnacle stage Xiong Ken Shou! Who dares challenge me!" This guy sounded a bit too arrogant TBH, but the rank 2 luck inspection Gu in my eyes said his luck was pretty high. It was barely 1/10th of my sagely luck, but I have a rank 4 luck path Gu and he doesn't.

The entire Gu Yue clan thought he was too arrogant, so one guy went out and said " I am rank 1 Gu Yue Shin Ten! Rank 1 pinnacle stage. I challenge you! Get ready to meet your maker!"

Shin Ten's body suddenly lit up with fire so grand my treehouse might have burned down if hit by it, but it was a defensive Gu, so I don't have to worry about it that much. What the other guy did was what really impressed me.

Roots grew out of his legs and embedded themselves into the ground and the guy stood there like an immovable mountain with his upper body in a ready stance, his body slowly growing out vines and his fists got covered in leaves, turning greener and greener each second.

The fire guy laughed at this, as he easily noticed the elemental advantage and charged at him. From what I understood, his intention was to hug Ken Shou, restricting and burning him up, which would have worked, if the guy wasn't a fucking beast!

Ken Shou sneered and pulled his right arm back, really slowly, as if his entire body was trying to rush forward and he was forcefully pulling it back. As soon as he pulled it back to the limit, Shin Ten got close and it felt like the force pushing his arm back suddenly reverted and his arm punched out at an alarming speed.

Even I could barely see it, but the leaves on his arms suddenly shone in a metallic glint and tens of leaves penetrated the poor Shin Ten's torso and skull, killing him instantly and his body just fell down, lifelessly and bleeding out of multiple holes.

My initial reaction was to wonder what kind of overpowered killer move he used, but then I realized none of them were killer moves. They were 3 individual Gu worms called rooted strength, razor leaf and spring weed. I did not know spring weed could be used in such a way. I took a good look and realized they were actually weeds, not vines after he took down the second guy to challenge him.

The best part about this guy? He was a C grade talent. The Gu worms he used were also very cheep. Razor leaf is barely 1% initial essence for 5 leaves, spring weed is only 10% initial essence per use and rooted strength Gu consumes no primeval essence. It's disadvantage is not being able to move. This ingenious combination would go amazingly well if an earth path Gu master manipulated the ground and moved his body for him, or if you construct a wall and need living turrets.

Trully the 3 aspects of Gu are nurture, refine and use. I might have advanced in nurture and refinement, but my ability to use is truly lacking compared to the commonwealth! I might steal this concept in the future. This is an ingenious idea, which I have now claimed and copyrighted! Fight me in court, Ken Shou! If you come back to life, that is.

The next two fights ended in a similar way, but a shameless rank 2 butted in and said "I have acknowledge you, young man Ken Shou to be qualified to fight me, rank 2 initial stage Gu Yue Gou shi!"

The motherfucker is a fire path major at rank 2 and is fighting a wood path rank 1. That's a total bruh moment. Apparently the entire clan was more than happy to sacrifice this Chad of a man named Ken Show and so was he just to at least weaken a rank 2, but the guy did more than that!

This coward kept his distance and shot short and fast fire charges at ma boy. The ENTIRE crowd was booing him(I take full credit for that) and he was so distracted he didn't notice the small trap Ken Shou laid for him.

Ken Shou killed 3 Gu Yue clansmen and then died to the shameless Gou Shi, but this madlad isn't to be outdone so easily! His corpse fell to the ground and he was suddenly engulfed in a dark purple flame, which got brighter and brighter and passed from Ken Shou's shadow, which was connected to Gou Shi's shadow at some point during the fight, and engulfed him in flame. The guy quite literally melted in front of our eyes and died, screaming curses and profanities.

All I can say is this "Get fucked!" The guy melted to the ground and the morale of Gu Yue fell 6 feet under. I don't understand imperial, but it is a saying. This was the most eventful fight throughout the entire rank 1 catagory. The total of the rank 1 went from 330 to 180, with Xiong clan having 87 and Gu Yue 93. The loss Of Gu Yue was much worse than Xiong clan in this battles.

I may or may not have played some minor role in this huge loss. I have been conducting small investigations on my fellow clansmen ro find out which luck is most effective, so I could better my clan and help it achieve victory!

My findings were quite weird. I could kinda predict the victor and loser, but it is weird. Turns out, there actually isn't any bad luck in this world. Sure, there is death luck, but death lack isn't bad luck. It makes you more likely to die, but it can't kill anyone and can even bring fortuitous encounters if you have a lot of it.

Sadly these guys only get death luck because they are fighting to the death and there are no fortuitous encounters here to be had. Still there is no bad luck, there is only not enough luck.

Now the real battle has begun and the first to go is obviously "I am Gu Yue Fang Zheng, rank 2 middle stage Gu master. Who wishes to challenge me?!" I had a huge dilemma with this situation, should I let Fang Zheng live or should I kill him? The answer I came up with is kill.

Fang Zheng is probably a major antagonist and rival for Fang Yuan, so getting rid of him will only bring me benefits. How do I get rid of him? His attitude is cocky and I can just plant a few time bombs on his body and use my failure Gu along with implanting a hidden death luck Gu.

"Fang Zheng, as Your battle lord, I command you to come over here!" The dumbass sighed and came over to me. No matter how much he doesn't like me, I am still his battle lord and he has to listen to me.

I placed my hand on his shoulder and said "What do you think you're doing?! Sending yourself out first is not a wise choice. We need to probe them out first and you aren't supposed to be in any danger. Stand back or you will be killed by them!"

I know this cocky dumbass well and know for a fact he will ignore everything I said and still go out to fight of his own accord, but something unexpected happened. Fang Zheng grit his teeth and said "You are right. I'll head back, battle lord, and wait for your signal for me to go in."

Um... When did this guy become smart? Why is he so obedient now and where has his head-strong, self-centered and unreasonably idiotic MC attitude gone? I have a bad feeling about this!
