49 Aftermath

Andrea was euphoric! This was a momentous victory. Sure, it was only bail, but even that had looked hopeless the last time she had left court. To have turned things around in only a weekend…

It had been a very, very busy weekend. Lots of hard work, research, and preparation for the hearing. Lots of worrying about Kyle in prison, not knowing how he was doing. Lots of late nights.

She knew she was going to pay the price for that later. But for now the adrenaline of the victory had her feeling on top of the world.

Cunningham had been polite but clearly wasn't in the mood for small talk after the judge concluded the hearing. Just collected up his papers, wished her a good day and left.

She wasn't sure if he shot a look at Kyle or not. It didn't matter though, since Kyle apparently only had eyes for her.
