Tyrone returned exhausted. Isabella had been nothing but kind. She tried her best to help him with his business and even forced him to make sure that he would have his meal.
She treated him in the tea house when he told her they would be late in the market and it would not be appropriate for her to return to his palace at such a late hour.
She only smiled and accepted his every word, things that Cassey had never done. Even from the start, when Cassey was just a commoner, she had been unruly with a headstrong views of right and wrong.
She had her ways to convince him to do her bidding. He paused.. When he realized that he was thinking about her again.
Cassey was the only reason he was feeling exhausted. Every time when he lied to Isabella, it was because of that woman only and it had worn him out.
He felt miserable and awful lying to a saintess who did nothing but help. He sighed as he tugged the collar of his shirt as if he was suffocating.
He was walking towards his new room when he paused. The door of her precious room was ajar. And he was tempted to give a good night kiss. He was sure it would rejuvenate him.
"But what if she woke up?" he sighed. He was still not good with calming her when she was agitated. She cries for her mother for hours, not letting the maids or him touch her.
But when she was in a good mood, she would shower hugs and kisses to him that made his day, and all this felt worthwhile.
He struggled for a second before opening the room and peeking in. she was sleeping with that crooked posture again.
She had thrown away her duvet and had crawled onto the pillow upto her waist and her ass was rose high in the air when he chuckled.
Walking closer, he kissed her cheeks and then covered her with a duvet.
As if feeling the heat again, Penny tossed and kicked the duvet again. She puckered her lips and muttered something before raising her left leg to kick it if the duvet came back.
Three deep lines formed on his forehead as he held the duvet again. Though it was still summer, the nights were windy and sometimes it even rained.
"She would not let you. She did not like heat." He paused but did not turn back. He should have expected her in the room when the door was ajar.
His face hardened. He still covered Penny with the duvet and this time tucked her well so that she could not kick it again.
"Just because she did not like good things, that does not mean I will let her suffer. It is my duty to remind her what is good for her." his voice was cold as if blaming her for rotting the child when she sighed.
If it would have been the other day, she would have argued over parenting with him for hours. But after reading only three files in the library. She did not have the heart to be angry with him.
How much he had suffered, how much he was still suffering. The hatred, it was all justified. If she would have been at his place, she was not sure she would have the heart and courage to bring such a woman back to his house!
"I know, I will keep that in mind in future." she nodded slowly, shocking him.
He finally turned to look at her, sure that it was her another trick. But.. her eyes were red and swollen. It looked like she had spent the whole day crying again.
His heart was torn at the thought of her crying in her room. Did she think that he was having an affair with another woman when she saw him leaving?
He had noticed her eyes but he did not react, afraid that Isabella or her maid would notice her too.
But why was he feeling guilty! He had done nothing wrong when she had already cleared that she wanted divorce and wanted to meet other men.
His eyes sank. He turned to leave when she blocked the door.
"What is it?" impatience laced his voice. He did not want to face her, he did not want to comfort her when she was in the wrong.
"I am sorry!"
"......" Tyrone blinked as he stared at her face to decipher her thoughts but he failed. She looked so vulnerable and hurt as if she had suffered a lot yet she was the one saying sorry?
"Tyrone i…" Cassey stopped. She knew if she told him that she had not done it, he would not believe her. It would only lead to another argument.
Though she wanted to ask why he did not trust her? Did he think she was such a shallow and greedy woman but she had realized there was more to the accident. And if she wanted to know the truth, she had to be patient.
Who knew what else she was unaware of.
"I am sorry for keeping you away with your daughter." For that, he really deserved an apology from her, "if possible, can we spend some time together as a family. I mean.. Penny will trust you more if she sees all of us bonding."
His eyes turned colder but he knew she was right! Penny did not trust him enough. She asked for Cassey whenever she needed anything. Even going to washrooms reminds her of her mother.
But if he would be able to win the trust…
"I will arrange a picnic in the garden tomorrow." she smiled at his efforts. Now she understood why she could not leave the boundaries of the palace.
"Tyrone! I needed a favor too. I wanted to know if Julia is still working here?"
The man frowned again, he paused for a second before shaking his head.
"I did not know any maid by such a name. Perhaps you are forgetting the name since it has been so long?"
