Trouble in the Watchtower

"Hello," I say, tapping the radio Hal gave me. Somehow, despite never touching, the man was able to call me on it. Hitting it against the palm of my hand, I then bring it back to my ear. "Hello? Are you there? Pick up! Pick up damn it!"

"Yeah," Oliver says, arms crossed and back leaning against a seat. "I don't think he's going to pick up. Barry, we have to know. Who in the living hell is that guy? Where did he come from?"

"I have no clue," I reply, vibrating my hand but still not getting an answer. "All I know about him is that he's a tough fighter, a talented hacker, and is not a people person."

"What gives you that idea," Selina asks, adjusting the goggles on her head.

"The time he slammed my head against the window of the Batmobile and threatened to kill me," I say.

"And we're just supposed to not assume this guy is bad or anything," Dinah says. "I mean, he just kidnapped both Firestorm and Blue Beetle."

"I know I'm going out on a limb here Dinah, but I don't know," I say, racking my brain for some kind of explanation. "There's just something about the man that says something! I honestly don't think he would have taken the three without some sort of plan! I'm sure right now, they're all just fine."

"Stay back," we scream, shooting the ground in front of them and covering it with fires. "Stay back or next time, you're barbecue!"

Turning around just in time, we face more One Earth soldiers! Firing off their guns, we blast the ground and launch into the air, leaving in our dust a blanket of smoke!

The soldiers being too busy coughing and pounding their chests, they left themselves open! Dropping to the ground, we toss fireballs at them, knocking them out and to the ground.

"Well that went better than plan," we say, smiling and clapping my hands. "No, it did! Yeah, I know the first plan was just to come here, put the bomb in its place, and then leave, and we did most of that before the soldiers came! What I'm saying is that--Oh nevermind! Let's just get out of here before we have to fight someone else! With all this noise we're making, I just know sooner or later, a regime will show!"

Walking out of the binary cannon maintenance room, someone then tackles us to the ground! Without any time to react, someone else jumps on us! And then someone else! And someone else!"

"Betas," we yell, looking up to see the horrifying, skull-like faces of Brainiac's robots, their dead, purple-eyes meeting our!

Dodging to my right, I grab the beta by its wrist and elbow. Pushing up on the elbow, I rip it right off and use it to attack the head, the head of the stupid robot slamming against the wall!

"Betas," Kara screams, backing up as more and more pile into the narrow hallway, their eyes and hands aim at us. How! Brainaic was defeated!"

"Brainaic was defeated," I say, backing up alongside Kara, "But his betas weren't! They were just turned off, left to rust in his ship until a new mind turned them back on!"

Watching as some of the betas rush forward, they separate Kara and me! Latching onto her like moths to a light, I pull back my fist as far back as it could go! Channeling what I know into it, I then look toward Kara as she cuts through the betas with her laser vision.

"Kara," I scream, "Lay low!"

Slashing the gun in half, I then pull back my fist and punch the final soldier as hard as I could, the soldier flying into the air before dropping back onto the ground.

"Finalmente," I say, bending over and letting my hands rest on my knees. Letting myself rest a bit, I then shake my head and activate my wings. Leaving the reactor room, I head back to where we first arrived, the storage room with the Batmobile! Hoping that the others would be there, something pops out in front of me and knocks me to the ground!

"Blue Beetle," Hawkgirl says, walking over me, her mace in head. "I do not know how you got up here, or what it is you are planning, but I do know it ends now!"

Spreading her wings, she leap into the air, raising her mace even higher into the air! Bringing my hands together, I form a shield and block the attack. Despite blocking, the attack still knocks me to the ground! Freeing one hand, I turn it into an arm cannon and fire, hitting Hawkgirl into the ceiling and off of me.

Now, with the both of us getting back onto our feet, we prepare for our fight.

"Do you really think you can beat me," Hawkgirl asks, bouncing her mace up and down in one hand. "I was once a member of the Justice League! I fought villains stronger than you could ever hope to become! I have years of experience! You're nothing more than just a kid in a suit of armor."

"A kid in a suit of armor that comes equipped with an arm cannon," I reply, bringing up my dual arm cannons. "Correccin. Dual arm cannons. Let's see how you mace does against these."

Firing off two shots, Hawkgirl easily blocks them, slamming them with her mace while moving toward me. Preparing for a third shot, Hawkgirl hit my arm cannon before I could! Missing, she then hit me, knocking me to the ground again.

Shaking my head to get rid of the blurriness, I manage to dodge Hawkgirl's attack, rolling right out of the way of her mace. While Hawkgirl is on her knee, I kick my foot in her face. The kick not doing anything, I got creative. Firing off the rocket booster hidden in my foot, Hawkgirl got hit right in the face with a bit of exhaust.

Confuse and blind, Hawkgirl stumbles around, swinging her mace around. Charging forward, I switch from cannon to sword, blocking Hawkgirl and placing a cannon right against her chest. Charging it, I then fire, sending Hawkgirl flying into a wall.

Groaning, moaning, and slowly getting up, I bring up my weapons, a sword on the left and a cannon on the right.

"Where's your experience," I joke, smiling and preparing for the second wind. Back on her feet now, Hawkgirl leap into the air and rocket toward me, her mace at her side. Hovering in front of me, she hit me over and over again with the mace! Blocking with my shield, Hawkgirl then kicks me onto the window of the Watchtower, the only thing separating us from the emptiness of space.

"Please tell me you come with a space feature," I say to my scarab. "Something like an oxygen helmet so if this window cracks, I won't die from lack of oxygen."

Hearing a woman screaming, I remember where I am and what I'm in the middle of. Blocking with my shield once again, the spikes on Hawkgirl's mace still pierce through, the small needles mere inches from my eyes. Struggling to keep the needles from getting any closer, I begin to hear the sound of glass cracking.

"Hawkgirl," I yell. "Stop! You're breaking the window!"

Going in one ear and out the other, I had to think of something fast. An idea dawning on me, I activate another one of the powers to my suit. Two long, large, blue appendages shooting out from the scarab on my back, I launch them toward Hawkgirl. The first hitting Hawkgirl in her chest, it pushes her back and gives me some room. The second appendages piercing one of her wings and pinning her to the wall, I then combine my arms together. Forming my big cannon, I fire it right away.

"Stonecutter," the man yells, punching the Watchtower's floor with a glowing fist. The floor breaking apart, bright-yellow waves appears and travel on top of it. More of the floors break apart as the waves travel, the waves then hit the betas, all the betas exploding and bits of them flying all over. Somehow, none of the exploding betas parts hit me.

"Kara," the man screams, running to my side. Kneeling beside me, he places his hand on something. Realizing that I'm in some sort of bubble, the man waves his hand around, the bubble disappearing seconds later. "Uhh, that was a force field. I made it just in time to protect you from the power of stonecutter."

Offering me his hand once more, I grab it and together, we're back on our feet.

"So you can also make force fields," I say, dusting myself off. "And make things explode with that 'stonecutter'."

"The stonecutter is just a really, really hard punch," the man replies. "And as for the force fields, well that's just combining the air around a person to make it stand enough to withstand whatever you need it to. Anyhow, come on! I sense Firestorm and Blue Beetle have already finished their things! It'll look really bad if we don't do ours. The archives aren't much farther."

Nodding my head, I follow after the man as he runs through the hallway. Luckily, we made it to a pair of steel locked doors without having to fight anymore soldiers or betas.

"Guard please," the man says, entering the passcode. The doors opening, the man then slips in, leaving me alone. Alone now, something starts to bug me.

"I like you," the man said. As soon as he said those words, I felt uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable.

"Why did he have to say that," I thought to myself. "I mean, here of all places! When we're in enemy territory! He did say I wouldn't like the answer, but I never thought that would be the answer."

Thinking it over again, I place my hand against my forehead and sigh.

"I can't do this," I say. "Not here! Not now! I have to stay focused and keep an eye out for trouble--"

Jumping a little when the doors open, the man then walks out. Looking around for a bit, he grabs my hand and starts dragging me away.

"Hey," I say, pulling my hand free. "What's the big idea? Why are you dragging me all of a sudden? What did you see in there? Did you get what we need?"

"Yeah," the man says, very quickly. "Oh yeah, I got what we need. Really, really, incredible useful information. Now, as much as I'd like to tell you about it right now, I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because we're kind of on a strict time limit. That and also because Superman himself is coming here."
