Tabby would be returning soon as Evan had been up almost all night to perfect the fusion mastery apprenticeship, so, he decided to crack open the beast mastery guide to pass the time until then. He no longer needed Tabby's help. She was too strong for him to attempt a pseudo soul stone, but she was useful for the learning technique. He could match her feelings but knew that an actual ability technique would be impossible to learn at his level.

In order to actually create a pseudo stone at his level he would need an unascended ability user, which was simply impossible. Even Evan's ability was still locked at this point, and he was much stronger than the average unascended person, and he was as strong as most people when they finish the ascension. So, he knew there was no point in trying to use Tabby any longer.
