Chapter 18:Second trial

A book appeared in front of Richard on it was a name of a combat art and an introduction.

[Combat art - Light formation - Hexagon Light slaughter]

It is a combat art that uses the light ability of the user to set a formation to trap its target in a never ending attack that only ends with the targets death or when the user stops it voluntarily. Peak Earth rank art.

Richard showed joy when he read the information about the art as it was not only a light art but at the same time an Earth rank art.Arts were divided into three ranks:Mortal,Earth and heaven.They were further divided into initial,medium,high and peak meaning this was an art at the pinnacle of Earth arts.

Even in the family there are no more than three peak Earth arts and here it was only a reward for the first trial.That made Richard look forward to what other rewards he would gain and what the inheritance would be.

He rested and took out a serum to heal his injuries and sat in a meditative pose while running the meditation technique.It took 15 minutes for him to heal and he moved on to the next trial.

[This is the second trial where your creativity will be tested.]

The room was empty and Richard didn't know what to do.

'What is this trials objective supposed to be?'

Richard was confused when suddenly he felt a chill down his spine and dodged to the left.Where he stood a claw mark suddenly appeared meaning he was just attacked.

"Fuck,an invisible enemy!"

Richard stood up and looked around warily as he heightened his senses with energy in order to find the enemy.It was in vain however as in the next moment he was attacked again without being able to find the enemy.

He tried to wreck his brain to come up with an idea however he came up with nothing.

'How do you find an invisible enemy with no smell or sound?Think Richard,think!'

Richard thought long and hard but the enemy didn't give him a chance to come up with an idea.Before Richard could react he was attacked again at the back of his neck causing himself immense pain.

"Crack!"

He heard a crack and was sure his neck was almost broken and any excessive movements will break it completely and that will be the death of him.

Richard cursed as this was the second life and death crisis he encountered involving his neck.This made him remember Elk.

'Damn!Not my neck again,why does my near death experience always involve my neck.First it was that little bastard with the weird smoke that scattered and blocked my energy now it's this invisible bastard.Wait...'

As Richard thought of Elk an idea came to him and he gathered his energy in the form of a ball and shit it into the air.The ball explodedand the light scattered and fell down like snow.As it fell Richard felt movement from his scattered energy and saw the outline of a long thin beast moving towards him ready to attack.

"There you are you bastard!"

"Light blades!"

He used his ability and conjured a blade and sent it toward the beast.The beast was stunned as it didn't think it would be found so fast and was too late to react.The blade slashed and cut through its neck causing its head to be cut off.

Richard grunted as his movement caused him to feel a sting of pain from the wound from his neck.He took out a healing serum and drank it,the wound slowly started to heal.

"I can't be wasting healing serums like this.I've already used three and I'm only at the second trial.I only have two left,I need to be more careful in the next trials.Hopefully it is not too dangerous in the other trials."

It took a while for Richard to heal however even after he was finished he still felt a pain in his neck.He knew he wouldn't be completely healed with the serums he had on him and need a stronger serum or a long time of rest.

He walked towards the other door and when he reached it signified he completed the trial.A crystal then appeared in front of him out of nowhere releasing a dense light energy wave.When Richard held it he felt comfortable and even felt his energy raise by a bit.

"Damn,it's a myriad light energy stone and a peak one!"

Unlike pure myriad energy stones this was an attribute one meaning it was ten times more valuable and stronger then an ordinary peak myriad energy stone.Myriad energy stone were divided into low,medium,high and peak.Low were commonly used by Refinement stage awakened, medium by Law stage awakened, high by Domain stage awakened and peak only by those who are overlords of the Domain stage.

He may not be able to use it at his current level because the energy it contains is too strong however that doesn't mean there isn't a way around it.If he uses an energy gathering formation he should be able to use it as a formation core and meditate using it and with how strong the energy wave is he should be able to use it until he reaches the peak of Law stage.

Richard was beside himself with glee not even caring about the pain in his neck.He anticipated the rewards he would receive from the next few trials and was sure they would be even better than what he just gained.

He stored the stone in his chest pocket fearing he would lose it and walked to the next trial.

"Time to see what rewards I will gain next."

What he didn't know was the moment he entered the third trial door the old man from before entered the trial room he was just in.He walked to the corpse of the beast and looked at it while muttering to himself.

"He will do nicely."
