Aaron woke up to the soft light of morning streaming through the curtains, his arm gently draped around Sophie, who was still fast asleep beside him. Her auburn hair splayed out on the pillow, glowing in the warm light. He watched her for a moment, his heart swelling with an unfamiliar feeling of contentment. He hadn't felt this at peace in a long time.
Carefully, he reached out and brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, his fingers grazing her soft skin. Sophie stirred slightly, mumbling something under her breath. A sleepy smile curled at the edges of her lips.
"Good morning, little bunny," Aaron whispered playfully, grinning as she let out a soft hum in response.
Sophie blinked her eyes open, a lazy smile lighting up her face. "Did you just call me a bunny?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep.
Aaron chuckled, pulling her closer. "I did. You looked so peaceful, I didn't want to wake you."
