A Small Memory

For almost 15 days an experiment had been going on in the centre of the garden, or rather a competition. Admon, knowing he was going to get a headache, had gathered several high ranking people, including Lawrence, into the garden and asked each of them to find him some exotic plants. It was an experiment, because Admon wanted to find out how many different kinds of plants he could get his hands on, and it was also a competition, because Admon had set up a prize for one of the [enlightenment pills], which was not even valuable in his own eyes, but which he thought might even help him.

In a way, it would be a special gift for the one who took the pill.

"Master Admon, I know I'm being greedy and stingy, but isn't this prize a little too much?" Mery suddenly posed the perfect question that had been on both Nalin's and Vered's minds as the final hours of the competition knocked on the door.

"I mean, this pill is not worth anything to me, I already know how to make and purify pills. I just wanted to have different plants and this was an excuse for me to have fun." By the time Admon had answered the question, the trio was staring at him, quite puzzled. Mery knew that the recipe for this pill had been lost for almost 10,000 years, which made her particularly confused.

"As always, my master is top notch." Mery thought after all these thoughts. There was a reason for her astonishment, of course.

Admon didn't know the exact value of the pills, of course, but Mery, Lawrence, and every one of the royals knew that each one was worth enough to buy an entire country. Mery clearly remembered a part of the story her mother had told her when she was little:

-----

"My daughter, there are three pills that are precious in our mortal world, each of these pills, according to legends, is of rare value even in the world of the immortals, but it is said that the recipe for each of them is in the hands of an inconceivable being, and this being is above the immortals and even above the gods. We call him [the Demon God]. The three pills in the hand of this god, whom we constantly worship, are known as the Pill of Enlightenment, the Pill of Knowledge and the Pill of the Heart, according to their value. Who knows where these pills, each more precious than the other, are now, after all, they are legends. The only thing that is known is that even in the world of immortals there are very few of these pills left, immortal sects gift one of these pills to some of their geniuses who appear perhaps every thousand years, and as a result, a new member joins the immortal council. This god knows not only these pills, but all the techniques and facts on top of them. He's above it all."

"How do you know all this mum?" Mery asked her mum and then she saw her mum pointing to a statue, she wondered what the statue was but couldn't think of anything other than it was a statue.

"This is the statue that our ancestor in the immortal world used to teach us, if it is broken, we will have no chance to communicate with our ancestor. It is this statue that has kept our tribe alive for so long." Mery looked at the statue in amazement and asked herself whether she would be able to meet [Demon God] in her lifetime....

-----

"I think I've met the Demon God, Mum." Mery was suddenly lost in her thoughts and filled with hope in what she thought was true or not. Otherwise, why would anyone save a demon monster from danger and keep it with them? Especially when every single one of them hated them, well most of them let's say.

Whatever it was, Mery was very happy with everything that had happened and chose to live with the hope of seeing her master's future.

"I'm here, sir! I'm here first!" The crown prince entered through the open garden gate, panting and sweating, fell to his knees, and with his hands he passed the pot with a strange-looking plant in it towards Admon.

After he did this, three other people entered the garden gate and saw the crown prince on the ground, they were too late.

"System, what is the name of this plant and what does it do?" Admon asked as he took the plant from the crown prince's hand, before long the detailed description of the plant churned in his mind and then he turned to the prince with a pale face.

"This plant is too dangerous to be in the garden, unfortunately I have to disqualify you." After Admon's words, the crown prince, tears streaming down his face, stood up and bowed, stepping backwards.

The other three then handed their plants to Admon, and of course the conversation between him and the system took place again. Unlike this time, however, the plant that Lawrence had brought made Admon's eyes sparkle, and though his face remained pale, he was clearly pleased with the results.

"Looks like we have a winner." Even though Lawrence had been holding himself back when Admon said that, he was still wagging his tails in an attempt to let himself go and soar into the air.

The flower in Admon's hand was a kind of ointment plant, with good cultivation, it definitely had the potential to become a very beautiful plant, and according to the system, his garden was very suitable for this kind of cultivation. So Admon was of course quite "happy".

Of course, Admon had quite a lot of healing plants at his disposal, but in his eyes there was no such thing as too much, only too little, so the more the better. That's why this was the most interesting of the four plants.

In the end, it was just a simple part of a simple experiment, and the beautiful appearance of the plant was definitely a point that would take it to the next level. So for Admon, there was no bad or missing piece here, on the contrary, he had had an incredible amount of fun on these days when he had been making an effort to relax.

It was definitely worth the headache.
