Elena hitched a shoulder. "You know, with all of this, what are we doing? This was actually supposed to be an act to get Bernal jealous, so he can like me, but it no longer seems to be so. It's as if we are now dating for real."

Mateo released a slow breath. "And you don't like it?"

"What? That it now seems like we are dating?" Elena asked.

"Yeah."

"But we were supposed to be acting, and now we kiss even when Bernal is not in sight, you send me gifts, and you do things that boyfriends do for their girlfriends and even more. You sent me box of chocolates this morning because you know I crave them when I'm on my period, isn't this too much for just pretense?"
