Infamous Journey

Opening my eyes all I see is darkness, which should be expected to someone who has just died. However, this supposed afterlife seems a little sketchy to me. First of all, why is it so cramped? I feel like I can barely move around. In fact it's almost like I'm trapped in some kind of box. Second is a weird screen in front of me… Maybe I should've looked into that first.

That's… a lot to unpack, and I'm just going to ignore that the system called me a loser. So what I liked the finer things in life? I chose not to have friends. I may not be used to crowds, but I'm sure I can do it. Right? It's not like I have a choice anyway, to survive in the world of One Piece strength is all that matters. My only path currently is getting stronger with the help of my new golden finger. 'System, what do you have for me?'

[Now that the host has finally accepted his new reality, we can start with the explanations. First is the Infamy tab. It keeps track of the feats you've done and how much infamy you gained from it. After calculating the feat's infamy you will receive infamy gems. Second is the Roulette your Life tab. There you can use your infamy gems to gain items that can raise your strength, new abilities/skills or give you useless items. Third is the Inventory tab, where items pulled through the Roulette can be stored. Lastly is the Status Page tab, where you can keep track of your skills development and your stats.

That's a lot to take in, if I'm understanding the gist of things. Then to get stronger I can either train and hope that I can gain stats quickly, or I can risk my life committing infamous feats to use the Roulette. In the meantime I'll open up my Starter Gift and see what I'll get…'System please open my gift.'

Wow, that's a pretty good start for me and I certainly won't complain like some whiney mc in a fanfic. The Candies and Recovery Pill is pretty self explanatory, but the Grade is unknown. I imagine the Grade affects the potency of the item, but by how much I don't know. As for the weapon, I only remember one with the name 'Yamato' but also may have such a high grade. A sword from the Devil May Cry series, a katana capable of cutting space itself.

I'll check my stats and whatnot later, in the meantime I gotta find a way out of my current predicament. I have the sinking suspicion that I'm currently in a coffin. Which is ironic for someone who was formerly dead, but it's time to get out.

Putting all my strength into my legs I push the coffin lid. Slowly but surely the lid starts coming off, until it falls over with a thud. Getting out of the coffin my surroundings are still dark, but I can see the outline of some ruins inside of a cave. While curious about the origins of my new life, I can't see any discernible information towards that in this ruin.

Making my way through the cave I found the exit, which leads to a pool of water. My guess is that this is an underwater cave. Now it's just a question about how deep the cave is, otherwise I might not be able to get out. I'll eat all the candies I have to increase my odds of survival *crunch*. Now to see my stats… 'Status Page'

All Diavolo have the ability to transform into a devil-like form, increasing all of their powers greatly. Partial transform can slightly increase certain stats depending on the transformation.

A unique energy that the race can manipulate. It can boost their attack, speed and/or defense, and contains a unique property to the individual. The phantasmal property allows the ability to create phantom weapons, create minor illusions around you, and move in a phantasmal form.

Beginner Swordsman(C): A reflection of a person's mastery of the sword. At the beginner level a swordsman is proficient wielding a sword.

Novice Marksman(D): A reflection of a person's mastery of projectile weaponry. At the novice level you have 40% accuracy at 3m.]

After viewing my stats I could feel a rush of information about my abilities enter my mind. The candies were able to raise my stats quite a bit, but I have no reference for how strong I am. However, I'm more interested in my race. I have never heard of a Diavolo in the world of One Piece. I won't say no to the extra perks that come with it though. It's like having a devil fruit power without having to eat a devil fruit.

I just hope I don't have a weird appearance like the Minks, not really into being a furry. I don't feel any extra appendages or scaly skin. In fact it's pretty breezy for my bare skin, all I have on are some rags that might've been pants at one point. I received some clothes from the starter gift, but I'd rather not get my new clothes soaked in seawater.

Taking a deep breath I jump into the pool and start swimming through the winding seat tunnel. Once I make it out into the open ocean I feel the pressure of the deep waters trying to crush me. Luckily my increase in Endurance made my body significantly tougher. Ignoring the marine life I swim with all my might towards the surface.

It took about 10 minutes to finally break through to the surface, and I immediately began gasping for fresh air to fill my lungs. Once my breathing stabilized I took notice of my surroundings, and I'm stuck in the middle of the ocean. But on closer inspection I can see the faint silhouette of an island in the horizon. Not wanting to risk getting eaten by a Sea King I swim at full speed towards land.

-Sometime Later-

Swimming towards the island I found out quickly it was much farther than it appeared to be. Unfortunately I lost the last of my clothes along the way, they couldn't handle my speed. Now in my birthday suit I've finally made it to the docks of some island. I quickly hid in some empty docked ship, and put on the clothes from the starter gift.

It was uncomfortable wearing clothes while I'm still drenched, but it's better than being mistaken for a pervert. The clothes were a snug black jumpsuit with short sleeves, black shoes, and two white belts around the waist. I also took this time to attach my sword to the lower belt on my waist. Now that I'm dressed I make my way off the boat onto the docks, it's time to collect some info.

The sword handle is white with a black diamond pattern running vertically, at the end the pommel is gold. The guard is a black and gold hexagonal shape with a gap in the top and bottom. The scabbard is black with gold lines on the top and bottom of the sheath. A truly fearsome weapon to have on my journey.

Making my way into the town, I'm stopped by two little hands pulling on my pants leg. "*Sniff* Are you my papa? Have you come back to get me!?" The voice of a teary little girl came from behind me. What the heck? I just came to this world and I'm suddenly a father???
