Incomplete System in Marvel

A man wakes up in the body of Peter Parker with almost no memories of his previous life. How will he survive in a Marvel Universe that is much more different and dangerous than just the movie universe? A system, of course! But what’s up with this system being in version 0.1 and having almost no features? ------------ Turn off your brain and don't put too much thought into things. I certainly didn't.

The Old Pervert

Inside the futuristic-looking jet, Rogue and I sat down in the back seats with me only managing to strap myself in moments before we blasted off toward the X-mansion at high speeds.

The adults, Storm, and Wolverine, took the role of piloting the aircraft, which really made me nervous and wonder whether it's okay for an obviously drunk person to control this thing. If nothing else, at least there won't be any traffic police pulling us over.

"Hey, how did you even know to come for us? I didn't get a chance to send out a message to call for help since they kinda ambushed me." Rogue asks after we had already flown for a couple of minutes in relative silence.

"Oh? Well, you have your team leader and the professor to thank for that." Storm explains, but Rogue remains confused.

"Scott and Charles? What do you mean by that?"

This only results in Storm briefly turning around and giving Rogue a look of disapproval before scolding her. "Code names, young lady. We have a guest with us right now."

"Right, sorry…" Rogue looks at me, clearing her throat, slightly embarrassed about revealing his teammate's name. "So… what did they do, Storm?"

"Well, it was mostly the professor, really. When everyone arrived at the mansion without you, he started questioning Cyclops on why you were left behind, and when Cyclops explained that you went to meet with some people, the professor said he got a weird feeling and sent us out just in case."

Wait, what? Xavier sent out two overpowered teachers just to spy on a teenage girl meeting some friends just on a hunch that something could go wrong? Granted, he was right, but that is still a bit creepy.

Wolverine chugs down the last of his beer. "We were supposed to just check on you to make everything was alright before going back to the mansion, but when we got to the school, we only found a destroyed yard with the smell of blood heavy in the air. I picked up Sabertooth's scent and chased after right away."

All of a sudden, the jet descends, and we come to a stop.

"Alright, we're here." Storm says as she unbuckles her seatbelt, Wolverine and Rogue do the same, so I follow their lead.

"Already?" I ask, surprised at how fast that flight was. My question is confirmed by the back door of the jet opening to reveal the mansion that I remember seeing in the X-Men movies.

"The jet is fast, and we're not all that far from the city." Wolverine shakily passes by me with a brand new bottle in hand. "Come on, bub, there is someone that wants to meet you."

Without looking back or waiting for a reply, he beelines it for the front entrance. Not thinking about it much, I am about to follow after, but I get stopped by a hand on my shoulder.

"Don't mind him too much, Wolverine gets a bit cranky when he is drunk, but I assure you he is much more polite when he is sober," Strom explains with a reassuring smile, but the one who seems most caught off guard by her statement is, in fact, Rogue who is standing next to me.

"You have seen him sober?" She exclaims loudly with her mouth wide open in disbelief.

"Well…no, but… surely he has to be different, right?" She says, not sounding very sure of herself anymore. After a few seconds of silence, where she seemingly thinks about the possibility of Logan being sober, she just shakes her head in disappointment. "Well, anyway, we should head after him."

Storm is right. Looking over at the front of the mansion, I see Wolverine waltz through the door, leaving it wide open behind him. The three of us stop standing around and hastily walk after him.

A few moments after he disappears into the building, just as we are about to reach the entrance, a wheelchair rolls outside. The man sitting in said wheelchair has a welcoming smile on his face, but his most prominent feature is the bald head reflecting the glaring sun straight at my eyes.

"Storm, Rogue, I'm glad to see the both of you are alright." He says in a warm voice that almost subconsciously makes you trust him.

"Professor." Storm greets the man with a nod. "You were right about Rogue being in trouble. Had we left here a few minutes later, things could have gotten ugly between her and the Brotherhood members."

Professor Xavier's face turns serious. "Seeing Logan return covered in blood gives me a pretty good idea of what went down, but I'll be expecting you to tell me the details later. Magneto isolating and targeting our younger members is a considerable threat."

Storm nods in confirmation, then quickly pushes me in front of her to introduce me to the professor. "Actually, to tell the truth, Rogue would have been in a great deal of trouble if not for this guy here helping her out long before we even arrived."

Storm says nothing more but the fact that I was brought along was probably enough for the professor to conclude that Storm and Logan suspected me of being a mutant and a possible future recruit for the X-men.

Professor Xavier turns his gaze to me and wheels his way forward just a tiny bit to be within arm's reach of me. Extending his right hand for a handshake, he greets me with a gentle smile. "Ah, I'm sorry for not greeting you earlier. To be honest, I've been keeping an eye on news about you for a while now, and I'm glad to know there are still some of our kind that are friendly toward normal humans, Mr…."

The professor trails off at the end of the sentence, and immediately after, I get a concerning but expected notification from the system.

[Gamer's Mind has successfully blocked a mental attack.]

Looks like some nosy old pervert was trying to pry into my mind to figure out who I really am. Honestly, I am slightly glad he is as I expected. After Scott turned out to not be a colossal asshole, I really started to question how close this universe is to the one I remembered from my old world, but this puts things back on track. At least one of the jackasses of X-men still makes me want to strangle them on the spot.

With his mental probe failing, Xavier's expression turns to a look of shock for a brief second, but he quickly composes himself and puts the smile back on his face. "I'm sorry, I don't think I ever caught your name."

"No, you didn't," I say without grabbing his hand, instead just crossing my arms in front of me. "And I don't think it's too amiable of you to probe into the minds of people you just met."

"I…uh…I didn't…" The professor stutters at my accusation, clearly not having expected that I was aware of his deed. Perhaps he thought the attack was blocked subconsciously by an undiscovered power of mine.

"The professor did what?" "Perhaps you are mistaken about something?" Both Rogue and Storm are also equally surprised at my accusation.

Retracting his hand, the professor looks down apologetically. "I'm deeply sorry about that young one, sometimes I can't help but be curious about newly arrived mutants, especially young ones…um, it's my job to figure out if they have any problems with abuse or discrimination that I could help with after all."

Ah yes, what a noble deed you have done only out of the goodness of your heart…

Storm only shakes her head slightly before walking behind Xavier's wheelchair and grabbing onto it. "I think it's time I gave my report about today's proceedings to the professor. How about Rogue here shows you around the mansion and introduces you to some of the other mutants."

Saying nothing more, she pushes the wheelchair through the doors into the mansion. Seeing the two of them disappear around the corner, Rogue grabs onto my hand and pulls me inside as well.

Notes:

Hi! It's been a while!

As a small update to what is happening, I've moved back to my home country now, and I have a bit more free time again, so I should have more chapters coming out soon.

I haven't written in a while, so I hope the quality hasn't dropped too much. Sorry in advanced if it has, it will take a few chapters for me to get back into the swing of things.
