With the call ended, I finally turn my attention to the new class I got as the quest reward.
------------------------------
[Spider-man class]
[3 STR, 3 DEX, 2 VIT, 2 END, 6 Free points each level up]
------------------------------
16 points per level seems like a lot, but then again, it makes sense for this class to be powerful. Rather than being a generic fighter or thief, it is spider-man, after all.
Unfortunately, for now, I have no way to compare it to other classes or enemies' stats.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name - Peter Parker
Race - Human
Level - 0
Class - Spider-man (0 / 100)
XP - (0 / 10)
HP - 100 / 100 (20 per minute)
SP - 250 / 250 (25 per minute)
MP - 250 / 250 (25 per minute)
STR - 10
VIT - 10
END - 10
DEX - 10
INT - 10
WIS - 10
LCK - 10
CHA - 10
Free Stat Points - 0
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My status panel hasn't changed much, I have gained a class, but I am still at level 0, so my stats remain the same. The few things I can pick out are that the class has a maximum level of 100, and I need 10 xp to reach level 1.
With the Spider-man class also came several new skills.
------------------------------
[Increased Regeneration - Passive] (Max Level)
Doubles HP regeneration per each vitality point.
------------------------------
Not bad. Before, it would have taken 10 minutes to recover my HP fully, but now it only takes 5. This will be extremely useful for drawn-out fights since I will keep recovering while my enemy continues to get more hurt.
------------------------------
[Wall Crawling - Active] (Level 1 - 1%)
[Cost - 10 SP per minute]
Allows the user to stick to and crawl on walls.
------------------------------
A classic Spider-man ability. I tried it out in my room, and it was very straightforward to use, just think about activating it, and I stick to anything I touch.
While trying it out, I also managed to level the skill up once, and it feels like I got faster when using it.
The stamina consumption also went down to 9.9 SP per minute. If losing 0.1 SP per minute from the consumption with each level is a pattern, then at level 100 it would no longer need any SP at all.
During the testing, I did get a bit disoriented when hanging from the ceiling, so it will take a bit of getting used to.
------------------------------
[Spider Sense - Passive] (Level 1 - 1%)
Gives a warning when danger is imminent.
------------------------------
Another classic ability that every spider-man has. I tried to test it out by throwing a rubber ball I had nearby high in the air and letting it fall on my head, but the ability didn't trigger.
All my experiment resulted in was a small bump on my head. Either it only triggers for attacks by others, not myself, or the rubber ball falling was not considered a danger.
------------------------------
[Night Vision - Passive] (Max Level)
Allows the user to see perfectly in the dark.
------------------------------
That's it for the skills I got. I had hoped there would be more like Venom Blast or the ability to control spiders like Ant-Man controls ants, but no such luck. Maybe I will get them when leveling up the class.
The biggest bummer is the lack of organic webbing. It seems like the system is expecting me to make a web shooter myself, but I have no clue where to even start with something like that.
I'm also missing a suit though I have a feeling that is a lot easier to make than a web shooter. I mean, even Toby Maguire's spider-man figured out how to create one.
[DING!]
Oh, what now?
------------------------------
[New Quest - Friendship]
[Description - Make one new friend at school]
[Reward - Web shooters, Web fluid recipe, Classic Spider-man suit ]
[Failire - All stats -1, you feel sad]
[ACCEPT?]
[YES / NO]
------------------------------
Well, that solves literally all my problems, but what's up with the sudden difficulty increase? I can't just go up to people and ask if they want to be friends, right? They would just think there is something wrong with me.
Anyway, that's a problem for tomorrow me, I'm just not going to think about it for now.
I spend the rest of the evening looking through Peter's memories, so I wouldn't constantly be caught unaware of the things I'm supposed to know, or things I'm not supposed to know, for that matter.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[The next day at school]
I really should have planned things out yesterday instead of trying to figure out how to do the quest today. It is already 3 pm, school is about to end for today, and I still have no idea how to do this.
The worst part is that today is Friday, meaning if I don't get this quest done today, I'm gonna have to wait out the whole weekend before I get another chance.
"Hey, Gwen," I whisper to Gwen, who is sitting next to me during the current math class. Well, she sits next to me in pretty much every class, but that's beside the point.
"Hm, what's up? Having trouble with the problem?" She asks, looking over at my notebook. "Wait, you're already done?" She says the last part a bit too loudly, making the math teacher tell us off for chatting during class.
By the way, I had already finished them a long time ago. By just joining a class, I had gained the related skill for it. For example, by coming to the math class, I acquired this skill.
------------------------------
[Mathematics comprehension - Passive] (Level 1 - 8%)
Grants knowledge of anything related to mathematics.
------------------------------
A very useful skill considering pretty much everything is related to math in one way or another. I had also gotten other similar skills for biology and physics from their respective classes. Nothing from music and art class, though.
Fingers crossed, there is a way to combine skills later on because if I keep collecting them, the list will get long, very long.
"No, it's not math I need help with," I say, and Gwen looks at me curiously, prompting me to continue. "How exactly would you go about it if you suddenly had to make a new friend?"
"Am I really the best person to ask this? I also don't have many friends, you knowโฆ" she says but starts thinking about my predicament anyways, what a good friend I have.
After some time of being quiet, she says, "I really have no clue, I guess maybe just find someone with similar hobbies and start talking about them?"
That's how the two of us became friends in the past. I don't think that advice is going to help in the quest, though. "Any other ideas?"
"Just pick the first person you see and go talk to them?" She says, clearly giving up on giving on thinking too deeply about this any longer.
"Why are you looking to make new friends anyway, am I not good enough for you anymore?" Gwen uses puppy eyes. It's super effective. Am I being teased? How exactly am I supposed to respond to this?
Seeing the confusion apparent on my face, Gwen starts silently giggling, "Relax, good luck with whatever you are up to, and call me for backup if you need any help."
I breathe a sigh of relief, I'm saved.
"Now, show me how you completed all these problems since I spent all that time trying to help you out." She says, taking my notebook for herself without waiting for me to answer.
I close my eyes, waiting for the class to end so I could go have an attempt at completing this quest.
