Jasper sat by Inayah's side and furrowed his brows. ''Inayah, just who are you?'' He was about to stand up when he felt her touch and stopped.
Inayah slowly opened her eyes and looked at him with warmth.
Her gaze softened as she held on to his hand for a while.
''This is the man who loved me more than anything else in my past life. Because, I tried to rebel against him; I listened to Samantha and ended up committing suicide. Now, in this life, I am cursed to fall in love with him with every breath in me. Even though I don't love him now; I can still see myself falling for him sooner or later. But, will I be able to help him in this life?"
Inayah's gaze was a little complicated. There were a lot of emotions in her eyes.
"Will I be able to prevent anything from happening? I still feel a few of my memories missing; for example, what place Noah has in all of this? Is he really the only man for me even in this life.'' Inayah smiled.
''You look happy!'' Jasper sat back and asked her. He felt that something had changed about her, but he couldn't put a finger to it.
He looked at the way her hand held unto him tightly and his lips curved into a subtle smile.
''How did I get here?'' Inayah asked softly.
''You passed out in front of your house. I found you and brought you inside. Do you know what happened to you? Why did you suddenly passed out?''
''Is this your bedroom?'' Inayah looked at the room which had a dark and dull appearance. ''It's just like you.'' She ignored his previous questions.
''What happened? Are you sick?''
Inayah shook her head and sat up, leaning her body against the headboard. ''I'm fine. I was just out for a little. Right, guess what I did today.''
Jasper furrowed his brows and took his hand away. ''What did you do?''
''I made up with my childhood friend today. I even ate at her place. She really knows how to cook. I wanted to pack some home.'' Inayah noticed the frown on his face and asked. ''I'm like a chatterbox, right? We are not that close for me to tell you all this.''
''Why? Do you wish that we were close?'' He lifted his brow.
''Of course not. I took your time and your bed. Thank you for bringing me here. I should probably be on my way. Good night!!'' Inayah got down from the bed and Jasper held her hand when she was about to go.
''I have ice cream in the fridge. You can take some with you.''
''Really? I love ice cream.'' Inayah turned back energetically.
''Follow me!'' Jasper stood up and they walked out together. When they got to the hall, Inayah followed him into the kitchen where he opened the fridge and brought out a bowl of ice cream.
''Whoa, banana flavour.'' Inayah took the bowl and opened the lid and started eating. She went out and followed him as he went towards the garden.
''Are you that happy because of ice cream?'' Jasper asked.
''Yes. Ice cream lifts up my mood.''
''You are really a girl.'' Jasper sat down and shook his head. ''Don't eat it all. Too much of it is bad for the body.'' He added.
''Ice cream is my weakness.'' Inayah pulled out a chair and sat across him.
''Nick told me you went to see him.''
''Yes. I went to ask him if he could help me get rid of my tattoo.''
''A tattoo? You have a tattoo? The same one I saw the last time? It shone.''
''Yes, but, I realised it was for the better. It can't be removed anyway and I don't want it to be removed. It is the sign of my rebirth.''
''Rebirth?''
''There is something like that, you won't understand and you won't believe it. Is the reason why you can't touch other women. Because you were waiting for me.'' Inayah said the last part to herself but her gaze on Jasper became even more intense.
''Why are you looking at me like that?''
''You are handsome… I guess I went crazy for a moment back then, to have chosen him over you.''
''What are you talking about'' Jasper looked at him, finding her even more strange.
Inayah's phone buzzed and she looked at it. she looked at Jasper and smiled before answering, ''hello, Noah. What's it?''
''Ayah, are you not back? Your house seems empty?''
''Are you at my house?'' she looked apologetically at Jasper and stood up from the chair. ''But, I told you I would call you when I'm done?''
''It's already this late and you are still out there. I am just worried about you and I missed you.''
''Noah, I've told you already. My life is like a roller coaster now; so, I can't afford to like someone or go into a relationship. I really want us to be friends. I will see you in school tomorrow.'' Inayah hung up and turned to go, bumping into Jasper's chest. ''Oh my!!! What are you doing here, Mr. Miles?'' She robbed her nose.
''I was curious about who is so stupid enough to fall in love with you.'' Jasper said even though he knew who the caller was.
''What? Just what are you trying to say?'' Inayah frowned and went to pick the ice cream.
''You have nothing at all. Ordinary face, no curves, no…'' His gaze shifted to her chest and Inayah frowned and covered her chest with the bowl. ''Nothing at all. Plus, you're not so good at studies.''
''Wow!!! You make me speechless. At my age, I am considered good to look at, okay? Do you have any idea the number of love letters I receive in a term?''
''Really?'' He looked at her doubtfully.
''Why am I even having this conversation with you? What a strange man you are!'' Inayah glared at him.
''I must really be strange; sitting here and chatting you a stalker.''
''I will just eat my ice cream before it melts.'' Inayah said and concentrated on the ice cream.
Butler James walked into the garden and said something to Jasper and his gaze turned cold. He turned to look at Inayah and said to her. ''Stay here, don't go anywhere. I will be back.''
''Okay!'' Inayah nodded her head.
