Chapter 12: Ashes and Oaths(I)

Ok guys there is a very idiotic review in which they are saying this is a Chinese novel

I can assure you this much I didn't even know there were Chinese fanfics for vampire diaries this is something I do on my own the storyline

the dialogues the editing

the character templates

do I use chatgpt hell yeah I use it so my drafts come out at least a little sensible because I just write out my thoughts in a draft after chatgpt gives me a structure

after I edited the chapter added my dialogues and situations

and ask for catgpt to check for any errors

read it 2-3 times then I go to Grammarly to check for mistakes in spelling and grammar then I accept its changes then I re-read the chapter again to see if I can add anything and then when I am satisfied I will post the chapter

so no there is no mtl or some bullshit the only fic I like of kol mikaelson and I know of is Vixen and Fox on AO3

I like the Klaroline pairing

I read bashing novels as time pass nut my novel is not one-dimensional i want to explain a person can be good and bad at the same time

because most of the vampire diaries fics I read

either humanize them or demonize them

the ones I like the best are She Deserves Better and Mama one shot by Animelover the author has many good one-shots

Sorry for the rant needed to get that off my chest the next part will be released tomorrow at the same time I have already scheduled it on p@treon it will be available as for the next arc it will be a small one till the ball starts it will be a 6 -7 chapter arc

as always thank u for your support if u can please support me at p@treon

if not please vote with ur power stone and add the novel to your collections

Over and Out

-----------------------------------------------------------

The Mikaelsons returned from the bar and settled into the Library.

The Mikaelson manor simmered with an unsettling energy.

Elijah paced the library, his brow furrowed in contemplation.,

A crackling fire mirrored the turmoil in his gaze.

Rebekah, leaning against the cold stone fireplace,

tapped her foot impatiently, her eyes reflecting the flames with fiery intensity.

Niklaus, sprawled in his usual armchair, nursed a glass of bourbon, a storm brewing behind his eyes. The revelation of Kol's pain, centuries-old suffering hidden beneath his facade of mischief, had shaken them all.

It was a stark reminder of the darkness that lurked within their family, a darkness they had chosen to ignore for far too long.

"Kol," Elijah finally spoke, his voice a low rumble,

"he has been in so much pain, and we didn't even try to help him. I failed him, WE FAILED HIM." Elijah growled at the end,

losing his composure as his monster was surfacing.

Rebekah scoffed. "Always and forever," she spat,

bitterness lacing her words, "yet how little we truly care for one another. We are bound by blood, yet separated,"

letting a little pain and anguish leak into her voice out,

to think he was trying to cheer her up even when she betrayed him.

But amidst the tension, Klaus raised his glass. "Let us not dwell in the past,"

he declared, "Let's see this as a lesson of what we need to start working on.

This backstabbing has gone long enough."

The words hung in the air, a fragile promise echoed by the others.

For the first time in a long time, a sense of unity, albeit fragile, flickered within the trio of Mikaelsons.

Meanwhile, in the vibrant streets of Richmond,

laughter and music filled the air.

Caroline and Kol caught up in the infectious energy of the night, danced amidst the revelry.

Their steps, once hesitant, were now infused with a newfound ease,

a shared joy that transcended their initial awkwardness.

As the night wore on, they shared stories under the watchful gaze of the moon.

Caroline, with her infectious enthusiasm, regaled Kol with tales of the modern world, its technology, its trends, and its complexities.

In turn, Kol, his mischievous grin ever-present, painted vivid pictures of his ancient past, a time when magic danced in the air and mythical creatures roamed.

The night culminated in a moment of quiet understanding.

Kol, his gaze softened, saved Caroline's number in his phone, playfully calling her his "little light."

The nickname, imbued with a hint of teasing, warmed her heart.

She exclaimed, "I am not little, Kol!"

Kol laughed,

"Darling, you are a very young and naive soul. See the world, roam it, learn things which interest you, revel and devour the experiences to your heart's content. Then I will stop calling you 'little light.'"

"That's also somewhat similar to what Klaus said." Caroline blurted out

"Oh, what did my bastard of a brother say?"

[Flashback]

Caroline's heart raced as Klaus entered her room, the air thick with tension.

Her voice quivered as she posed the question that echoed her deepest fears.

Caroline: Are you going to kill me?

Klaus: On your birthday? Do you think that low of me?

His words sent a chill down her spine, and the weight of the situation hung heavy in the air.

Caroline: Yes.

Klaus: That looks bad. My apologies. You were just collateral damage; it's nothing personal love.

I love birthdays.

His nonchalant demeanour grated on her nerves, and she couldn't shake the fear that this might be the end.

Caroline: Yeah, aren't you like a billion or something?

His ageless existence seemed both fascinating and terrifying, and she couldn't help but let a note of sarcasm creep into her voice.

Klaus: You'll have to adjust your perception of time when you become a vampire, Caroline. Celebrate the fact that you are no longer bound by trivial human conventions.

You're free.

The irony of his words didn't escape her.

The freedom of immortality felt more like a curse in this moment,

as she grappled with the reality of her impending death.

Caroline: No, I'm dying.

Klaus: And I could let you die if that's what you want. If you really believe your existence has no meaning. I thought about it myself once or twice over the centuries, truth be told.

His admission of contemplation added a layer of complexity to the situation,

and Caroline couldn't help but wonder about the weight of centuries on his shoulders,

but she was feeling the effects of the venom and couldn't concentrate on other thoughts.

Klaus: But I'll let you in on a little secret, there's a whole world out there waiting for you, great cities and art and music, genuine beauty, and you can have all of it, you can have a thousand more birthdays - all you have to do is ask.

The offer hung in the air, tempting and terrifying.

Caroline's mind raced, caught between the fear of death and the allure of an immortal life.

Caroline: I don't wanna die.

Klaus: (bites his wrist as he picks Caroline up to give her his blood) There you go, sweetheart.

Have at it. (she begins to drink) Happy birthday, Caroline.

As Klaus offered his blood,

Caroline felt a mix of relief and trepidation.

The warmth of his wrist against her lips was a lifeline, a chance at a future she hadn't thought possible moments ago.

Happy birthday, indeed.

After she explained how his brother saved her,

Kol told her it's not so easy to get his brother's blood and let her contemplate.

They returned to Mystic Falls, and Kol told her he would talk to her later, and she would be in for a surprise and left her at her home.
