Chapter 4 - Pure luck

Before we start, if you haven't read ToG yet then I recommend you don't read this until you catch up since this chapter has spoilers as long as my earlier chapters. Come back after you read most of the webtoon

(also I will be changing Bam into less of a naive dumbass because I feel like he really needs to let that bitch Rachel feel pain)

In the second test point, the test is about to begin. Ravid looks around and finds the protagonist, Bam. Chatter starts to emerge within groups. Ravid looks at the other teams, it looked exactly how it looked in the webtoon but way better.

"FINALLY!! I GOTCHA!!"

"I WILL KILL YOU!" a person with red hair exclaimed at Hatz

"LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO MY ARM! HOW ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE UP FOR THIS?! HUH?!" He yelled

"I don't know. Maybe you can buy a stick and attach it to your arm" Hatz said calmly

The person with red hair shouts at Hatz more but Ravid looks away and starts focusing on someone else. a man with yellow hair walks inside the test point and stops them from fighting.

"I'm the test administrator, Lero" He said

"Test...Administrator? Then you are A R-Rank-"

"Yes I'm A Ranker of the tower" Lero interrupted

"A real...Ranker...!" the one with the red hair said.

The person leaves Hatz alone while shouting a death threat at him. Hatz ignores him and focuses on Lero.

"Hmm..... isn't this a feisty crowd?"

More chatter starts to emerge from the groups but gets stopped by Lero who introduces himself.

"Nice to meet Chu!" Lero said with a smile

an awkward silence and whispers comes from the groups. The awkward atmosphere passes and Lero explains the pretest. He flicks his hand slightly and a wave of shinsu pushes everyone back. Ravid looks at the other people being pushed back by the shinsu and then realizes that he didn't get pushed back.

"Is this...shinsu?"

"Yep, I created a barrier of shinsu. I compressed the shinsu to make a barrier that pushed you all out" Lero explained

"As you well know, shinsu is everywhere in the tower, and it plays an important role because it allows us to breathe and provides water. However, shinsu can be...a powerful murder weapon depending on how it's used"

"Highly concentrated shinsu is so strong that it can break an arm. So all the contestants in the tower uses shinsu to fight" Lero says

Lero explains some of the properties of shinsu and how some people who can't deal well with shinsu aren't good candidates for the tower. He says everyone can begin and more chatter emerge from within the groups.

"Wait! Did you say team!? What if one of your teammates can't pass through the barrier?!" One guy asked

"Isn't it obvious? That team fails" Lero said

Anger and shouts come from the groups as they don't like the idea of this concept.

"Hey, do you know what is the most important to move up the Tower?" Lero asked

"It's luck."

"The luck of having a strong body. The luck of being smart, the luck of being rich. The luck of escaping from death. The luck of saving a teammate"

"The only reason you got this far...was because you were lucky. And now you say it's absurd to test luck? Stop jabbering and just take the test, you regulars."

More chatter and questions come from the other groups but that all stops when Bam says he wasn't pushed out.

"Um...to take the test I should probably go out and come back in, right?"

"A- ha ha ha...um.... it's--"

Lero looks at Ban with shock.

"I'll go back out! It's a test after all!" Bam said nervously

"No, Mr.Bam. You're in"

"I think I made a mistake but, that is also part of your luck" Lero said

Lero looks in Ravid's direction before he widens his eyes even more. He quickly calms down and looks back at Bam before saying he passed. A yell of anger comes out from the groups as Ravid walks in the direction of Lero and sits down.

He watches as his team goes through the shinsu with no problem at all.

"I don't have the materials to make anything right now. I guess I should go back to my team now..."
