Chapter 32
Ryan would have called Merrick, as soon as they’d hung up, to give him the good news, but Merrick had made it clear from the beginning that Ryan wasn’t to call him at work unless it was an emergency. Ryan had the feeling this would not fit his designation of ‘emergency’.
So, knowing he should pick out what he wanted for the show, before anything else, he began going through all his artwork. By the time he had to leave for work, he had his selections laid out on the floor along one wall.

“I need ideas,” Ryan told Merrick Saturday morning, after they’d eaten breakfast. Of course he’d already filled his lover in on his discussion with Mr. Foster, which had elated Merrick. “I have a month and a half to create at least half a dozen drawings.”
“Oh, boy. That’s not much time, given that you spend five nights a week at the restaurant.”
