Chapter 71
It's been seven months and it seems like some people have resigned themselves to their fate while others have not.
For a long time, nobody has heard anything from Sarah and even her mum is worried about her because she has not set her eyes on her. For months, she has been searching for her daughter and even employed private investigators to help her search for her daughter but none of them has been successful in finding her and this has become a cause for concern to her mum and the few people that like her because to many, not seeing Sarah was good riddance to bad rubbish.
What nobody knew was that Sarah has been in captivity for a few months. Samantha's mother decided to take laws into her hands and avenge her daughter's death because she knew that before the law will be able to catch Sarah, it will take a long time and she might not even be alive by then. Every time she sees Sarah happy and laughing, her stomach turns and all she wants to do is strangle the evil girl who took her only child away from her.
"Well, you evil child from hell your mother has been searching for you for months without any success of finding you but today she will find you and when she finds you, she will understand how I felt the day you killed my daughter. Do you know that if you had had any remorse after what you did I would have let it go? I would have accepted it as my fate and told myself that I was not destined to have a child but instead of being remorseful, you were happy and mocking me. You were challenging me and asking what I could do. Well, for your information, today is the day I send you back to your original father who is the devil. You deserve to burn in hell for all the evils that you have perpetrated."
For once in Sarah's life, she never believed that Samantha's mother could be this ruthless or that the woman would get her someday because she has been planning on how to kill the woman but unfortunately the woman got to her first and right now, the only thing going through her mind is what to say to preserve her life until she is able to escape because for the time she has been here, she has been devising an escape plan.
With tears in Sarah's eyes, she replied with a shaky voice "I'm sorry for everything that I've done. I'm sorry for the pain that I have put you and your family through and Sam did not deserve what I did to her. I don't know what possessed me to keep ruining people's lives like I was doing because since the time that I've been here, my conscience has been weighing heavily on me and all I've had in my heart is regret because I have brought many people to their unexpected ends and I know that I am a bad person who does not deserve forgiveness. Sam has always been a good person but I did terrible things to her even though I knew that she never believed in revenge rather she will always avoid problems. Please forgive me and I will make amends even though I know that they won't bring Sam back from the dead. If you kill me, you'll be doing the same thing that I did to your daughter and I know that Sam will never want this. You will destroy yourself by killing me because it will weigh heavily on your conscience so why not let me turn myself in to the police and confess all my crimes. For once, please give me a chance to make amends."
"Wow Sarah, I really applaud your acting and I can see how you have managed to deceive everyone around you for years. Do I look like Mrs Richards your dear godmother? I am not my friend so you can't deceive me as you deceive her all the time. It's quite unfortunate that Jamil came to know the kind of person that you truly are only after Samantha's death or are you not aware that he has been investigating you? Well for your information, killing you will not weigh heavily on my conscience because I am doing the world a favour by getting rid of one trash that has never done anybody any good. Killing you will be just like killing a wall gecko and don't worry about what my daughter wants or doesn't want because she is dead and the dead knows nothing. If my daughter wasn't as peaceful as she was, she wouldn't have fallen victim to your antics and as you can see, I am not my daughter and you have put your hand in the wrong mouth because this mouth will bite off your throat."
After speaking, Samantha's mum went outside the room where Sarah was tied up and came back with a few hefty men a few minutes later. Two of the men were holding a box and when Sarah saw their faces, she instantly knew that these are the relatives of people that she has killed and they are here for revenge. The sinister look on their faces alone made a cold sweat run down her spine and all she could do was to beg for mercy. All her pleas fell on deaf ears because the man pretended not to hear what she was saying as they went ahead to open her mouth and put a mouth prop so that it will stay open. They brought out a viper which was the same kind of snake she used in killing Samantha and has been using to traumatized Samantha's mother for a while. One of the men laughed and said "I am sure that you are very familiar with this creature because two of you are siblings as you are both cold-blooded but we want to do an experiment by shoving it down your throat and seeing who is more cold-blooded amongst the two of you."
Sarah began to tremble because she never thought that this will be how she dies. She began to shake her head while the men laughed. Two of the men held her head in place while one of them put the snake inside her mouth as she began to struggle. The one they put has not successfully gone down her throat when they brought out another and put it in her mouth also trying to make it go down her throat and that was the last thing she remembered before leaving this world because the rest of it was excruciating pain.
Jamil and his lover met at a restaurant when he told her that Sarah has been found but she was found dead. The news sounded like a hoax to her because she never believed that Sarah would die so easily. She was still trying to process the news when she suddenly asked "did you see her dead body and confirmed that she was truly dead? Because she could just be fooling everybody."
"You should know that before I come to you with this kind of news I had already confirmed it. I'm really grateful to whoever took her life because I would have done it myself. She did all she could to keep you and I apart and when I thought that I was finding love again, she took the woman away in a very cold way and I know that her family will never remain the same because she is an only child and Samantha was too good for what Sarah did. I also spoke to Samantha's mother to convey the news of Sarah's death to her and the woman was very happy as she blessed whoever took her out of this world."
When Sarah's mother heard about her daughter's demise, she had a heart attack and died instantly because the news was very shocking to her. All this while that she has been searching for her daughter, she refused to entertain the possibility that her daughter might be dead. The only person who really felt sad about the whole incident was Mrs Richards because she felt that she has lost a friend and a daughter and she could not understand why nobody could sympathize with the family.
Na'ima devorced Zahid a few months ago and has moved on with her life as she told her mother that she doesn't care about what anyone thinks of her because she is tired of being with a man who breaks her heart all the time. Her mother tried stopping her from taking that step but her father was solidly behind her as he praised her courage for taking a step towards freedom and happiness.
Zahid has already been forced by his father to divorce Najiba after the results of the paternity test carried out on her baby proved that he is the father which meant that she never cheated on him but he has accused her falsely. After the paternity of her baby was proven to be her husband, Najiba was asked what she wanted and she said that she is tired of the marriage and wants to leave.
After her Innocence has been proven, her mother who has always been after money and telling her to stay with her husband was in support of her leaving the marriage because she is also tired of having her friends mock her that her daughter is married to a street dog. Zahid had spoken to his doctor before the paternity test was carried out and his doctor made him to understand that it is possible for a man who has done a vasectomy to get a woman pregnant in very rare cases but Zahid could not understand why his case should be very rare which was why he still went ahead to get the paternity test done so that he will be sure that he's not raising another man's child. Now the results came back to slap him in the face for doubting his wife and his life has been turned upside down because he was not even allowed to name his son.
Najiba named their son "Noman" and on the day of the baby's naming ceremony, his paternal grandfather carried him and said "May all the blessings of Allah be unto you according to your name." The old man smiled at the baby and wished within his heart that this little one never turn out to be like his father.
When Zahid's father was about to leave, he walked up to Najiba and said, "I'm very grateful to you for having the patience to bring the gift that Allah has given to this family into this world despite the opposition that you faced during your pregnancy. Amongst all of my son's wives, you are the least wealthy and influential but when Allah wants to bless someone or make them important, he doesn't look at their financial status or their level in society. You are the most favoured my dear and you will have my financial support for life. You are already in my will whether you remain with my son or you decide to marry someone else. Do not let anyone pressure you to do what you do not want to do but I have only come to beg you for one thing. I know that my son was immature and I also know that he is very sorry for that. The only favour I need from you is that you do not stop him from seeing his child. I don't want anyone of you taking custody of the boy because I want you both to co-parent and also promise me that you will allow the boy to visit me. That's all I ask of you and I hope you grant it because I know that I have no right to ask you for anything."
Najiba looked at the man and smiled as she said "your wish is granted even before you asked." The old man smiled at her as he nodded before walking away.
