Chapter 87 If not friend... then why friend shaped?

Dante's voice rang out with exaggerated surprise echoing in the trees, "OI! IS THAT YOU, ELIZABETH???" He actually had sensed her presence and her two friends, long before but he decided that it was okay to fake shock just for the fun of it. It would be more entertaining in this way and would allow a comfier meeting.

Elizabeth removed her knight helmet, revealing her large golden hair and a pair of striking blue eyes. "Yes, it's nice to see a familiar face once in a while." She subtly glanced to her left, signaling her friends with her eyes. And with a quick flick of her fingers, she sent a discreet message through the system: "Don't worry, I didn't tell them anything about you being an aspect."

A flash of confusion crossed Dante's face as he processed her actions. Then it clicked in his mind. He had acted really aggressively towards the mech.

For some unknown reason, his mind reacted defensively to being identified as an aspect, perhaps it was the learning with his alternatives, that some players out there hunt aspects as a job or maybe it was just his subconsciousness protecting him from a hidden threat.

Dante reassured her with a light tone, "Don't worry! It was just with that mech! We didn't quite like him! There was something odd about his intentions and how he looked at us."

As Elizabeth continued to speak, she discreetly typed in the chat, ensuring no one else would notice, "I mean... you guys normally kill each other because you get 'special' rewards."

Dante sidled up beside Elizabeth, his warm smile radiating casual confidence. "Well... We are still friends, and we can't actually do something harmful to each other. We accepted the alliance, remember?"

Elizabeth's tense shoulders relaxed, her lips curving into a genuine smile as she stopped her secret messaging, saying out loud, "Yeah, and I'm glad I did."

Dante's eyes sparkled and not metaphorically, "Before we continue, we have a tiny whiny question... won't take too long."

Elizabeth gently chuckled at her show of glittering sparks, "I promise I'll try my best to answer, even if I don't know it."

Dante asked for crucial information that he didn't have time to check, "What do we have to do to survive, like conditions or needs? Is there something that the system asked us to do?"

For a moment, disbelief was painted across Elizabeth's face. She blinked a few times, feeling her brain still racking itself to understand that this silly girl and almost naive player before her was an aspect. "You shouldn't be suprised anymore eliza..." After saying this to herself, she continued, "This is just a survival game designed to last 72 hours. The final part is a king-of-the-hill scenario that will last 6 days. To survive, you'll need at least five players to hold the hill, so when the time runs out, they count you as a winner. And, according to the event's statistics, the players anaylzed, 66.66% of all participants are going to die, meaning only 33.33% will manage to survive and win."

Dante wasn't stupid... well, at least not at this moment. His demeanor shifted subtly, and the lightheartedness was replaced with some seriousness. This was the upgrade 'Persona Protocol' kicking in, melding more traits of Dante and shining even more in combat. He tilted his head slightly, with a thoughtful expression, "Why focus on those statistics?"

"As you might know, two fists can't beat four palms," she recalled something, then corrected herself, "Well, most of the time that's true! But the more, the better, so my plan was to ask you if we could-"

"Yes!" Dante interjected, his enthusiasm cutting through her words with a bright, almost childlike eagerness.

Elizabeth brushed a strand of golden hair from her face, her eyes lighting up with joy. "Really? Oh... I didn't expect you to accept so quickly. I... Uh... I promise that we are gonna be useful in at least one way, and don't worry about me being slightly weak... I am actually the support of the team!"

Dante didn't doubt a single word of hers for a second. He sensed no malice or any kind of negativity from her; because now... his instincts could reveal truths that the naked eye couldn't see and they were telling him that, this girl was sweet and kind.

Elizabeth, standing nearby, looked at her companions, her eyes narrowing in thought. From a crouched position below her field of view, Dante suddenly leaped into the air with a burst of confetti, landing in front of her. "Well then, it's official!!! Nice to meet ya! We know it's quite late for introductions, but anyway! We are Dante, the robot is Thalassa, the moth is Su Yuan, and he is Daniel. What are your names? What do you like to do? Favorite pastries?"

"Um..." The group seemed taken aback by Dante's sudden burst of vibrancy, their expressions ranged from surprise to mild amusement. Elizabeth, sensing their hesitation, stepped in. "How about we sit down by this campfire and talk it out slowly? They aren't the best when it comes to meeting new players."

"Okie Dokie!" Dante replied with a cheerful nod. With a swift motion, he changed his attire slightly, creating all kinds of objects out of thin air. When she turned back to Thalassa and the others, she asked, "There isn't any problem, is there?"

Dante was the unspoken leader who glued everyone together, so knowingly or unknowingly, his words were orders. No one objected, and thus the group of five became a group of eight. They gathered around the campfire, watching the flickering flames cast warm light on their faces.

Elizabeth sat down and tried to spark a conversation theme with everyone, while swinging her legs like a child, "You know... I kind of discovered something. Well, to be exact, my mother taught it to me, and it's a question! It has always helped me to find out more about a person."

The energetic aspect responded with its usual insatiable curiosity that would never know an end, "Oh...~"

Elizabeth asked while writing in a chat to one of the two missing members, a question that he had never heard before, "What's your favorite compliment?"

😭I THINK I BURNED THE KITCHEN!!!! WHY DID Y'ALL LET ME COOK!💀

You see my fellow readers, I kind of got stuck... (Elizabeth was never suppoused to even say more than a few lines... I had to change a lot of the plot, because after reading what I wrote twice... IT DIDN'T MAKE FUCKING SENSE!!!)

but the Guten news is that! I am not stuck anymore!!!

just took me an entire week to get out of the hole... also I am starting to create a second work... (MY attention span is dying... I NEED HELP!!!)

I will slowly make chapters of the next novel (OBVIOUSLY) after FIRSTLY getting back with all the missing chapters I didn't write "In the Abyss As A Toon Character" and be near the end of this novel/fanfic.

So Expect me to upload it again and more constantly because I REALLY want to write what's coming in 10 chapters and an actual original work.

oh and sorry if this chapter feels slightly empty...
