Chapter 39 The Start of a New Adventure

With his stats now sorted out, Dante joined his friends, who had already absorbed the information. They continued their meal, savoring the last bites of their food before exiting the restaurant.

And like that, a week passed, marked by Dante's growing desire to test himself. Dante was with Daniel, asking him a favor. Recently, he wanted to experiment with his capabilities and get stronger, but he wasn't foolish before leaving the place. He must prepare for any kind of situation that the outside might throw at him.

Dante took a ticket out of his inventory and showed it to Daniel. "It's a ticket to a random world," he turned to him. "I don't know what I might need there, and you seem like the type of guy who should know that stuff. To cut to the chase, can you help me make my backpack?"

Daniel didn't confirm him. Instead, he began listing all kinds of complex items, from simple things like antidotes, and basic first aid items, to a fucking astronaut suit. According to him, I might end up in a vacuum space or a hazardous planet.

I ended up spending a whopping 10k gold in total, but now I'm prepared with shit I don't know how to even use

He made me buy a mini-AI, so I don't go insane by being alone for too much time.

Just as I was about to break the ticket, Daniel spoke, "Are you sure you don't want to stay more?"

I responded, "Yeah, I won't force you guys, but are you sure you don't want to come with me?"

Daniel, unmoved, expressed his disinterest, "I have no interest in rushing everything. Why would I even want to be stronger in this moment?"

"Good point?"

"Anyway, I hope you have a great week or month. I don't know how much time I'll stay there, so goodbye until next time," Dante said, bidding his farewell and beginning to depart. Daniel's parting words echoed, "Just keep yourself safe, and I hope to see you soon."

I responded to him, "Ha! I don't think I can do the former, but surely I'll do the latter." As Dante held tightly onto the ticket, the world around Dante began to warp and twist as he held tightly onto the ticket. Suddenly, he felt a jolt of energy surge through his body, and his surroundings changed completely.

He found himself standing in the middle of a dense forest, with regular trees and the sound of birds chirping in the distance.

The air was fresh and crisp, and the ground beneath his feet was soft and damp with leaves.

Dante examined his surroundings before muttering to himself, "Now let's do what Daniel told me first. I can hear birds, so the planet won't kill me. Probably good start?" with a sense of excitement and adventurism stirring within him. He began exploring the place.

The moment I gave my first step, a notification popped up: 'Midas dilenma is resonating. Do you want to spend 50K gold?'

WHAT!

50k gold?

What the fuck are you gonna do? Give me cheats?

The exorbitant price was too much. He recently spent 10k gold, and it hurt him a lot, and now this hungry system wants to scam him 50k gold for something he doesn't even know.

Shit no! I won't spend 50K gold on something. I don't know what it is. At least tell me what it does.

...

...

...

"But..."

Dante started to slowly auto-convince himself. "I mean... It's 50k, it should be something good..." his hooves started making draws in the earth, "but if it's something useless, then I just wasted half of my money."

After standing there for five minutes, he pulled a coin from his inventory. "Alright, you're going to decide my fate, System, if the coin lands head, buy it." The coin flipped, and with closed eyes, Dante awaited the outcome.

Reluctantly opening his eyes, he pleaded, "Please be something good, please be something good." Without his consent, the Midas gem came out of his inventory. Inside the gem, an arrow pointed to the south.

Confused and frustrated, Dante yelled, "What am I supposed to do with this??? SYSTEM, EXPLAIN!"

The system answered him, "Right now, we don't know until you scan or discover how the item works."

"YOU USELESS GODLIKE MACHINE!" he quickly calmed himself down, being angry that it wouldn't change the outcome.

Dante investigated the arrow inside the gem, attempting to poke it and manipulate it. However, the arrow resisted any interference from the outside, constantly pointing in one direction. In a moment of instinct, he decided to test the arrow's meaning.

Attempting to try something, he went in the opposite direction. Yet, to his surprise, the arrow remained stubborn, consistently pointing at the same spot.

Dante followed the arrow till he emerged from the trees. His eyes widened at the sight before him. An old structure stood in the center of the clearing, surrounded by broken stones.

The arrow slowly began pointing at the floor in the rubble, and when he got close enough, it began pointing completely down.

"What am I supposed to do?" yet the system didn't respond to him, "Okey, you want me to go down, so let's do it!" his hooves began to dig the earth in search of whatever this damn gem made him spend whopping 50k gold.

His hooves scraped away at the dirt and rock as he dug deeper into the earth. He had been at this for minutes by now.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity of digging, his hooves hit something solid. He carefully cleared away the dirt and debris, and his heart started racing as he saw a glint of metal.

With trembling hooves, he reached down and carefully pulled the object onto the floor. It was a dagger. "A weapon?" he muttered, studying the strange, worn blade.

The dagger had a strange shape. It was twisted and battered out as if it had been used intensely and broken in combat. The handle was ornately decorated with symbols that Dante couldn't understand.

"System can you inspect this thing?"

A blue page materialized in front of him.

-----

???

A powerful dagger made with the function of countering sorcerer's magic, By [DATA EXPUNGED], after failing to kill the strongest sorcerer, the dagger met a gruesome fate, being sealed and broken to prevent its usage against his life again. Midas Dilemma temporarily fixed it back.

-------

Sorcerer? Is there magic in this world? I hope they aren't that strong... Dante pondered, with his mind brimming with questions as the mysterious dagger rested in his hooves.

Authors note:

Probably there won't be a chapter tomorrow. I gotta go with my family to "enjoy." these days.

also

New world!!!, I made a really fragile narrative that makes sense at first glance but is completely incoherent if you think too much.

so don't think much about it

Hey FF (IK, I killed this option, but I wanted to bring it back)

In my original script, this conversation was going to be like this:

Dante: "Anyway, I hope you have a great week or month I don't know how much time I'll stay there."

Daniel: Keep yourself safe, and I hope to see you soon."

"Ow, you are worried about me even tho we are almost like strangers and I'm stronger." (I was going to give even severe amnesia to him, like the first day he wasn't going to remember how to talk and move)

With a pissed-off face, Daniel responded, "You wasted a lot of money and my right to ask something." (In this version, Daniel had to use his right to ask something, wasting it into a potion to save our protagonist.)

"..." Dante turned to his ticket, trying to ignore what he said, "so technically speaking, I owe you my life... how much would I be worth? don't worry I'll pay it twice when I'm rich."

He broke the ticket and departed from the place, wondering what kinda of world he would find.
