Dante's demeanor told that he didn't think he had revealed the most significant secret of his life.
James, on the other hand, was taken aback by the revelation, and the casual attitude had only increased his bewilderment.
Out of pure shock, he spat out his food. All eyes at the table were on Dante. James, attempting to regain his composure, apologized for what he had just done, but his mind continued to reel from the unexpected revelation.
In disbelief, James asked, "You aren't joking, right?" The storm of emotions on his face was unbelievable. Dante's unique abilities have already generated a lot of fascination for James, but this revelation added an entirely new layer of complexity.
Casually shrugging it off, I replied, "I mean, being an aspect seems rare, but I don't think it is that great.
James, still processing the information, explained, "Aspects are literally the chosen ones of their gods. Some gods are strict with their conditions, and there have been recorded cases of gods not choosing anyone for centuries."
Dante, however, remained steadfast. "I still don't understand. My path doesn't feel like it's set in a Silver Spoon nor that I have a diamond tiara and the world is my kingdom."
James replied, "You don't know you lost something till it's gone."
Indignant, I retorted, "HEY! I don't think so. My soul and body tell me otherwise. I almost died a few days ago. If not because I worked my ass off, I'd probably be dead by now. I would have loved to see that privilge in action."
Seeing Dante's demeanor, James explained, "Look, not all gods treat their aspects the same way, but just being one gives you a tremendous advantage." He continued, delving more into the aspects,
"Normal players get typical classes: knight, swordsman, gunner, summoner. If you're lucky, you'll meet the requirements for a rare one or acquire one as you advance, like me."
Dante nodded in understanding, absorbing the information.
James continued his explanation. "Normal players like us have classes like knight, swordsman, gunner, summoner. Now, rare classes come with an extra title, for example, Archer of Artemis, Disciple of Buddha, or just a weird class like a magical girl or parasite, which requires a certain set of requirements."
"To not dwell much and make this last the entire day, normal players need to search for something they are good at within their class scope. Even if you are a swordsman, not any sword style will work. You have to pray your percentage is good enough."
"But aspects..." James paused, trying to emphasize the deviation in their paths. "Aspects have a pre-set trajectory with a merging rate of at least 90% or higher. Their abilities can be obtained and upgraded directly from the system, eliminating the need to search for perfect weapons or similar items."
I reply to him, "I mean, the difference in power shouldn't be that great. What levels are y'all?"
Su Yuan responded, "37," Thalassa, "38," and James, with a small hint of pride, said "40."
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Dante could only mutter a low, "25..." The following minutes hung in a heavy silence, with no one daring to break it after Dante's revelation.
After what seemed like an eternity, James finally broke the silence. "Even if he is an aspect, it doesn't automatically translate into a blessing. If he follows a low-tier god, the benefits might be small."
Fiddling with the chair he was sitting on, Dante asked, "How do I check that?"
James instructed, "Name of your god, and I'll check it quickly."
Name of my god? I'm the aspect of Aqarath, so it should be... "Aqarath"
James brought an item and searched for something in it, but his frantic search suddenly stopped as he froze. James asked in rectification, "Are you sure you didn't spell it wrong?"
He inspected Daniel from head to foot before explaining, "Aqarath is a high-low tier god. In his peak, he was almost breaking through high-mid. I tried to search about him, but the records are corrupted or expunged. It seems he did something to get downgraded to mid-low, and after some time he recovered a fraction of his power, stagnating as a high-low tier god."
Interrupting him with a question in mind, I called him, "HEY!" James fell silent, waiting to see what I had to say. With his attention, I asked, "What is a high-low?"
James explained, "Gods are divided into simple categories so we can measure them: low-low, low-mid, low-high, and this continues up to high-high. Something to remark is that your god is quite weird... sometimes he chooses a lot of aspects, and there is a record of him not choosing anyone for 68 years."
That sounds interesting, but is there something else important I should know?
James explained to him a bit of how Aspects worked. After digesting all the new information, he left the place to see about this "Aspect of Authority."
What are you supposed to do in Shop 2.0?
The purple page opened again, revealing two quests to reclaim:
----
The beginning of a new start (Completed)
Destroy your past to create a new you.
---
The Genesis of all the problems (Completed)
Obtain a mental problem.
---
Uh... why is the second so ambiguous, and what's with this Requisa stuff?
The system gave Dante the same explanation about this currency and why he had a low amount.
Daniel told me about spending my money on upgrading myself... Let's do it!
The pegasus went to the system and quickly explored everything about his abilities.
Should I upgrade myself or... save for a new transformation
His gaze faintly fixated on the name Pinkie Pie, and her exorbitant price... 1 Million... and that was the price taking into account the coupons he had in his inventory.
Yeah... keep dreaming, but why is Pinkamena so costly? Her stats and abilities don't fit her huge price.
The system replied to his question, "Potential."
So it's kinda like a late-game bloomer?
With a new "goal," he passed on something he could do now.
Elemental control Adaptation A: let you harness the elements of Air, Snow, Water, and Electricity in a more tangible manner. (Will Disable Weather control)
I don't know... Let's not make a rushed decision and see how useful it is first.
Time in a Bottle Adaptation A: It turns into an active with cooldown in exchange for enhancing it
I'll think about it!
These were the only two adaptations available for now, and the price was quite costly. He didn't instantly buy them because, technically speaking, he hadn't ever fought before, so his capabilities remained unknown, and making a choice would be unwise.
Authors note:
(I'll put Dante's stats in the next chapter tho... I don't know how to write stats :M_Sip: I'll kinda ignore the stats... It's hard to put stats cuz I'm sure I'll contradict myself sooner or later.)
Me at the screen, watching how I didn't press "Upload." and the chapter was never published.
