GETTING THE AWARD

After the president gave the speech, the function started, and then an announcer started to call out the names of the soldiers.

"Captain Dmitri will be given the orderFOR MERIT TO THE FATHERLAND 4TH CLASS' for showing extreme valour on the battlefield while facing the enemy soldiers."

"Major Alex will be given the award of 'Merited Military Pilot of the Russian Federation' for special merits in the development of aviation technology, high performance in education and training of flight personnel, and a multi-year accident-free flying period in military aviation."

That guy is really something else. I am wondering what type of technology he developed—is it spy planes or something different?

"Also, he will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; please give a big round of applause for him."

"Now let's call lieutenant."

And the function continued on. I saw various people of various militaries getting awards, and with each name, my nervousness grew, and finally the time came when they started to call the first benchers or senior officers in my case.

"Colonel Alexander will be given the order of 'SAINT GEORGE 4th CLASS' for personal bravery, courage and valour, and high military skills, resulting in the victory of a region."

"Brigadier General Dmitri will be given the order of 'SUVOROV' for skilful organization of the operations and management of groups of troops (forces), formations and military units, who managed, despite the stubborn resistance of the enemy, its numerical superiority, better technical equipment and a more favourable location in the theatre of operations to achieve the goals of the operation to keep key areas of its territory (or territory of allied countries), to create conditions for seizing the initiative and conduct further operations with offensive purposes; for skilful organization and management of units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during events of strategic deterrence, to ensure that no escalation, aggression (conflict) against the Russian Federation and (or) its allies occurs."

That is a huge information dump on me, and if he is this good, why not just make him the chief of general staff? But now I should prepare myself since next is my name.

"Rewarding the special operations forces commander X with the order of' SAINT GEORGE 1ST CLASS' for doing various deeds for the fatherland that cannot be told for security reasons; also, no questions will be asked to him since we are afraid that it can reveal his identity."

That is a lot less talk then the previous person but still it helped me for giving a speech so let's go and take my reward now that I look at it it has a star, a ribbon and a cross so first the cross is a white enamelled cross pattée with a central medallion bearing the image of Saint George on horseback slaying the dragon the star is a four-pointed silver gilt star with a gold central medallion bearing the cipher of Saint George "SG" topped by a crown and surrounded by a black enamelled band bearing the motto of the order "For Service and Bravery" while the ribbon is orange with three black stripes, commonly called "George's Ribbon" with a miniature golden star and the most important thing about it is that the star is worn on the left breast for both the Order first and second classes which I do not know why is it important."

"Everyone must also congratulate Mr. X for getting promoted to the rank of lieutenant general, making him the youngest person to achieve it. Maybe since we do not know his real age now, I would like to ask the president to give him this award with his promotion."

"Before giving this award and promotion letter to him, I would like to tell everyone that this award was only given to only thirty people, ranging from Catherine the Great to Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich of Russia. This award, despite being a military award, was only given to the nobles, and there were very few exceptions for this reward, and today commander X is going to be one of those exceptions due to his great military achievements, and I hope he will do these miracles again and again. Also, I would like him to become the Lieutenant General of the Russian Army since our country greatly needs his expertise in this war. Now let us all say FOR THE FATHERLAND!!."

"FOR THE FATHERLAND!!!!."

Wow, what an inspiring speech he gave there, and I totally shouted for the Fatherland myself. Thank God I held myself back, and after this, he gave me my award and my stars. By that, I meant he changed the stars on my shoulders from a blank background to three stars with five points, and the reason why my shoulders were blank and not having two red stripes with a star was obviously security reasons.

"Now that everything has happened, then the reporters can ask their questions."

And after that, he left the platform entirely and left with his bodyguards while the reporters, just on cue, started asking questions, and their first target was not me but the newly promoted Lieutenant Alex, but I think it is acceptable since they already knew that I cannot talk due to my situation.

"How are you feeling lieutenant after your unexpected promotion?."

"I am feeling glad actually since I always wanted to do something for my fatherland, and thanks to our scientists I was able to achieve this dream."

"What did you do, sir?."

"Nothing special I just flew a plane over the mountains to the Donbas region and did a small bombardment there, and I also became the only air force pilot to use our newest aircraft."

"Can you tell us about the aircraft?."

"I think I cannot since the authorities want to remain mysterious about the plane?."

"Thank you for answering our questions, Lieutenant Colonel."

Well I knew that they are taking the blame for that air strike but promoting a guy just so that everyone will believe them? well no matter what they about it since that is good for me too since no one will come to know about it being linked to me except for russian government after all.

"Brigadier Dmitri can you tell us how is the war situation going?."

"Well the war is going to fine we have entered some new regions in Ukraine while conquering the region of Donbas and we also got ourselves defended from the Ukranians since they tried to take our Kursk region under their control."

"Were there any casualties?."

"Yes there was a casuality but it was only one and nothing more and the dead was also a spy of the Ukranians."

"I meant any civilian deaths."

"No, there were no civilian deaths."

"Brigadier how long do you think the war will go on or the victory is in sight?."

"Well I cannot for sure since war is not a game between childrens there are many things which can go wrong with this so I would give a moderate answer of five years."

"So you are saying that in the war you may get defeated?."

Who is this person does not he know he is in russia and he dares to say that the country might get defeated and when I saw the tag on him then I realised that he is a reporter from BBC while I was thinking that I felt someone touching me and I saw a person of Presidential Security Service.

"What is it?."

"General the president has called you to go with him to The Presidential Executive Office."
