The Hunt for the Key

"Where would your family hide the key to finding the Tear in a castle run by the single most fanatical person opposed to finding the Tear?" I ask, turning to stare over at Lucas, crossing my arms.

Even if the exact location of the key isn't on the map in his head, if his parents were part of the people who hid the Tear, then he is the best hope I can think of for puzzling out what their thought process might be.

Lucas purses his lips as we wander the halls of the palace aimlessly. "Probably his bedroom. But there's no way they could have gotten there."

"Hm."

In some ways it helps narrow things down to consider where his family could realistically have gotten.

In others, it just takes away all the smart answers.

And a part of me can't help but wonder if the people who were able to make that beast and its labyrinth couldn't have found a way to sneak the key somewhere like the king's chambers anyway.
